2. KEY ACADEMIC PROJECTS
The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA
Graduate student
Design of experiment to identify the significant factors affecting fluidity of material Sept 2014- Dec 2014
Designed a fractional factorial experiment to identify the significant factors for fluidity in plastic injection molding
Performed the experiment in laboratory and collected fluidity number response for each sixteen experiments
Analyzed the data in Design expert and Minitab software and ran semi folder over design to disentangle aliases
Concluded the project with confirmation test for three significant factors out of six and two interactions
Develop a Spreadsheet model for Supplier selection and order allocation Jan 2014- May 2014
Reduced the number of supplier selection criteria by using statistical analysis
Number of potential supplier are decreased to one third by using the L2 metric method
Suppliers are ranked by using Analytical hierarchy method(AHP)
Order allocation is optimized by using different goal programming methods and integrating the result of AHP
A real life supplier selection problem consist of 21 potential supplier and 7 criteria is illustrated using this model
Value stream mapping for an assembly plant to reduce the cycle time and inventory Sept 2013-Dec 2013
Drawn current state of value stream using information collected from front seat assemble line, Johnson control Inc
Future state of the value stream is drawn based on the annual and strategic goal of the company
Identified the bottle neck and recommended the improvements which reduced the inventory by 14.7%
Conducted the time and motion study to optimize per station process timing resulting in 7.5% reduced cycle time
Inventory management for manufacturer to optimize the inventory cost and orders Sept 2013-Dec 2013
Five different policies are used to evaluate the inventory management and ordering
Ten different cases with low or high inventory and back-order cost are applied to these policies to calculate cost
The average inventory cost different cases is calculated based on fifty weeks demand to draw inventory cost results
Recommended inventory policy and ordering strategy depending on inventory and back order cost
National Institute of technology, Surat, India
Undergraduate student
Design a Cam type valve for cryogenic pulse tube cryocooler July2011- May2012
Investigated and tested the leakage and failure reason in design of existing rotatory type valve
Developed a Cam type valve design to replace rotatory type valve without changing orifice or equipment specification
Fabricated the valve and conducted experiment which resulted in 3.9% efficiency increase and achieved 9 kelvin
Lean manufacturing techniques implementation best practices in operation July 2011-Dec 2011
Conducted literature review on lean manufacturing technique implementation
