Narrated logging in elearning platform
- 2. E-LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The purpose of this session is to: take you through the step-by-step process of logging-in into the Kenyatta University elearning management system. Demonstrate to you how to navigate through the elearning management system
- 3. LOGGING-IN STEP 1 Open your browser on your computer, laptop, tablet , etc.
- 4. STEP 2 On the address bar, type the URL for Kenyatta University elearning management system. kusoma.ku.ac.ke
- 5. STEP 3 Type in your username and password. Username is the middle part of your registration number and the year separated by a dot e.g., 4176.2020 . Default Password is 1234
- 6. STEP 4 Change password Default password 1234 New Password Retype new password
- 7. STEP 5 Logging-in process completed Your Name is now displayed on the page

- The learning management system is what most of the students refer to as student portal, elearning platform or kusoma platform. This is the platform or system that allows you to interact with your lecturers and others students within your class. It enables you access learning resources such as class notes and perform class activities such as taking a quiz, submitting assignment, discussing with your lecturers and students, among other activities.
- The first step in is to open the browser on your computer, laptop, tablet or smart phone. Note, there are different types of browsers such as Microsoft edge, Firefox, Google chrome, opera mini among others.
- Once you open the browser, it will take you to your default page. In my case Google is the default page. This could be different with what opens on the device that you will be using. On the address bar, type kusoma.ku.ac.ke. Note, 1. do not start with www and 2. do not type the address on the search field but type the address onto the address bar and click enter.
- In the next page the system will prompt you to login. To log in, you should have a surname and a password. Under the username field, type the middle part of your registration number followed by a dot followed by the year. E.g 4176.2020. For continuing students, username is the middle part of your registration number followed by a forward slash followed by the year. Since you will be logging in for the first time, the initial password referred to as default password, is 1234. Click enter. Note. Incase you have forgotten your password, there is forgot password link which will take you through the process of getting your password.
- Step 4 is where the system prompts you to change your password. To do this, there are three fields that must be filled. In the first field, type in your current password which is 1234. In the second field type in your password ie, give yourself a password. In the third field, retype the same password you have given yourself and click save changes.
- The system confirms that you have successfully changed your password. This completes the logging-in process. To confirm you have successfully logged in into the system, your name will be displayed on the elearning management system at the top right corner of the page. Click on continue button which takes you the home page of the elearning management system. Note, the next time you get back to the elearning management system, the system will not prompt you to change your password, You will be required to use your username and the new password you gave to yourself. The next session demonstrates to you how to navigate through the elearning management system.
