Baseball Operations Experience and Management
Arizona Fall League (MLB) – Special Assistant to the Director, Phoenix, AZ Aug 2013 – Dec 2013
Executed responsibilities as Senior Advisor to Baseball Operations department.
AFL Scouting Site (www.aflscouting.com). Accomplished full dynamic design management, implementation,
and daily upkeep of a first-of-a-kind site. Provides weekly pitching match ups and BP/IF times in advance,
game day starting lineups and scout packs, team rosters and changes, stadium scout information, and
all daily and day of game changes via desktop and mobile versions for scouts along with player development
and front office personnel.
Assisted in coordination of game testing of Instant Replay over six regular season AFL games.
Coordinated with Cris Jones and other MLB Umpire Supervisors from the Commissioner’s Office
to successfully accomplish a first-time umpire mechanic set of clinics for all AFL Umpires. This included field
procurement, location set up, and acquiring high school teams to assist as players.
Secured deals for workout options for each AFL team for strength and conditioning workouts during the season.
Headed up AFL’s first ever “Hitting Challenge” on opening weekend. Supervised AFL staff, established
sponsorship and marketing of the event, and coordinated with Salt River Fields management.
Recruited and signed new AFL sponsors including Zinger Bats, Title Boxing, and Sport Chalet. Directed
and implemented sponsorship requirements for these along with AFL’s Bowman sponsorship.
Designed a first time Hall of Fame Induction event for Darin Erstad that involved the University of Nebraska
alumni chapters and included pregame and in game private address and reception.
Researched, negotiated, and administered AFL’s storage location change.
Arizona Fall League (MLB) – Coordinator of Baseball Operations, Phoenix, AZ July 2012 – Jan 2013
Oversaw all facets of Baseball Operations for the Arizona Fall League, which included working
with the Farm Directors, Scouting Directors, and front office personnel for all 30 MLB teams,
directly overseeing seven employees, working with the Office of the Commissioner, and
daily communication with AFL team field staff and trainers and MLB Umpire Supervisors.
Managed team roster formations though discussions at the Farm Directors meeting and several
conference calls with Farm Directors and Pitching Coordinators while adhering to league roster
rules regarding level of play in minors, priority player status, and additional requirements.
Planned and implemented player and staff preseason hotel and roundtrip travel (domestic and international)
while adhering to all travel rules dictated by the MLB CBA, along with working with player agents.
Negotiated and ordered all league equipment needs and coordinated the logistics of uniform and
player equipment with MLB teams.
Procured deals for workout options for each AFL team to allow players to continue strength and
conditioning workouts during the season along with handling invoicing and waiver documentation.
Coordinated video scouting program for the league that was available to MLB teams along
with the players and coaching staff of each AFL team though iPads and clubhouse video stations.
