The Snap Button Tester consists of an upper snap clamp, lower fabric clamp, and force gauge mounted on a stand. It is used to determine the holding or breaking strength of snap fasteners attached to garments by gripping the snap in the upper clamp and fixing the garment in the lower clamp. Turning the flywheel applies a specific force, and the force at which the snap holds or breaks can be recorded.

1. Snap Button Tester
To determine the holding or breaking strength of prong-ring attached snap fasteners on to garments. It
consists of an upper snap-clamp, with a lower fabric clamp & a force gauge mounted on a stand. The
snap component is gripped by the upper snap clamp and the garment is fixed to the lower fabric clamp.
By turning the top flywheel, the operator can apply a specific force and the holding force or the breaking
strength can be recorded. The assessment of snap attachment strength is an important criterion
especially in the design and manufacturer of garments for infants and children wear. The measurement
of a uniform force applied to the snap attachment shall be recorded by means of a force- measuring
device. Once the appropriate force is registered on the Imelda Scale, a stop clock is used for recording
set period of time.
