My Long Term and Short Term Goals
Professional and Personal Goals December 12, 2011
Someone famous once wrote, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." That's deep! But, in a way, it's obvious and should go
without saying. However, so many people try to just jump the whole thousand miles at once and seem to forget that careful steps and rest stops must
be made along the way to successfully (the main word is successfully ) complete that journey. I've had my goals and aspirations for a long time but I'm
not sure that I ever started out in the most organized fashion. My professional goals remain the same but I now realize that effective time management is
the main way to achieve my goals in a less stressful manner. I understand...show more content...
My original plan was to pursue my Bachelor's Degree after my sons graduated college, since I support them financially, but when I realized that most
of the hospitals require nurses to have a bachelor's degree, I decided that the sooner I start working towards my professional long term goal, the better. It
goes without saying that the two most important milestones to achieving this goal will be my sons' individual graduation days.
My personal long term goal is to go back to my country of Haiti and offer my assistance to those who have experienced and still experience the
hardships and tragedies which the country has undergone. When I left home and came to the United States, I came with a high school diploma
but could speak no English. As a single mother, I raised my four sons, worked, and went to school. With the help of scholarships and financial aid,
I obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing. I want to "pay it forward", as they say, and give back to my country so that others could receive the
same opportunity as I did. This long term personal goal will be greatly influenced by finances. Therefore, one of the milestones to achieving this
goal is tied into my professional goals (both long and short term). I will need to acquire one of those more stable positions at one of the area
hospitals and I will have to be working there for at least a few years before I would feel comfortable enough to ask for time to return to my country to
assist. This is where a timeline

My Long-Term Aerobic Goal
Over the term of the semester, I was able to fully achieve my fitness goals (and then some), due to a well–structured workout plan, persistence and
continued exercise throughout the semester, and reasonable goals. Due to this I was able to significantly improve my cardio and core strength. My
long–term aerobic goal was to be able to run the 1.5 mile benchmark run in 9 minutes and 30 seconds, a 3 minute improvement over my initial 11:48
that I tested at initially. I thought this was a reasonable goal over the course of 1 semester given a consistent amount of practice. I met this goal about
Вѕ into the semester and was able to consistently run the 1.5 miles every workout session in about 9:10. My aerobic workout schedule consisted of
going outside and running the 1.5 mile course every session, pushing myself to my limits every time and thus incrementally improving my time. I
found tht the most difficult aspect was to master my own self–effort, as my own internal effort seemed to make the difference between a terrible time
and a fantastic, fast, run. Once I was able to control this, however, my times became consistent, and I met my goals every day. My times slowly
decreased until I was...show more content...
In my initial fitness testing, I was only able to do 22 curl ups, significantly below average, and thus I thought it would be reasonable to set a goal of 60
curl ups in 1 session, which is considered average. By doing many repetitions of 10 curls ups each every day, I was able to build up my muscle
strength to the point where I could go for long periods doing curl–ups with little to no fatigue. This was a much more prominent change than the one I
noticed with my aerobic workouts, as I would collapse entirely from exhaustion after 20 repetitions early in the semester, whereas later I could do
curl–ups exceedingly well. I in fact reached 94 curl–ups on my final fitness

Immediate And Long-Term Career Goals
Please list any immediate and long–term career goals you may have: Looking into the future, I hope to achieve many things as a doctor. Research will
not only help me stand out as a medical school applicant, but also determine if I have a true interest in research, something I hope to pursue as a
doctor. In order to attend medical school, I will have to complete my education at TCU, take MCAT and prepare myself through other opportunities
such as doctor observations and volunteer work. During medical school I hope to discover a specific interest that I can . After medical school and
choosing a specialty, I hope to find a program that inspires me and pushes me to pursue further understand and research in that area that I can be

My Long-Term Goal
In my community, I volunteer immensely with the 4–H and FFA youth in Pima County and Arizona. I am a cavy judge at local shows throughout the
year, as well as a certified shooting sports leader to teach 4–H members safe shooting techniques with rifles. I was also given the opportunity to
volunteer with Future Farmer of America student members through my sorority, Sigma Alpha. I will be volunteering with the Meat Evaluation CDE at
the State CDE Day, and have applied to be a Camp Counselor at the Arizona State FFA Camp held at Camp Shadow Pines in Herber, Arizona in June.
Volunteering with youth involved in agriculture has allowed me to give back to a community that gave me so much during my youth. 4–H transformed
me into the young woman I am...show more content...
My short–term goal is to graduate from the University of Arizona with a major in Anthropology: Human Biology Emphasis, B.S. and a double minors
in Plant Sciences and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. My long–term goal is to become a Forensic Anthropologist, and assist the Federal Bureau of
Investigation in reconstructing discovered bodies and determining the cause of death. I'm attracted to working the field of criminal justice
because I would be solving the ultimate problem: how did the individual leave this world. Majoring in Anthropology allows me to solve this
question. Bones tell us so much, from a person's diet to any broken bones they faced during their life, and this can be used to solve the final
problem of their life. Plant Science comes into play because we can look at the life cycle of a plant as it grows around bones, and determine how
long the bones have been in the area; solving problems and relating other parts to solve the problem. Ecology and Evolutionary Biology is directly
connected to both fields, allowing me to delve deeper into two worlds I enjoy. I would be happy with a career in either field, but I hope to blend them
and have a career involving all

Long Term Goal Analysis
I have five more months to graduate with my bachelor's and I have to say that I am almost finished completing one of my long–term goals. Right now,
I am almost near done with my Research Analysis course for the summer semester and I have to say that this class was .....weird and interesting. At
first I thought I was going to panic (as always) because it was challenging but as I got use to the lecture and exams, I have gotten better. Today, I took
another exam and the whole class and I stayed longer taking the exam because the professor did a slight twist in order to explain deeply about the
statistical tests. Therefore, we are all clueless of what our grade will be once we get them back. My professor is a character. He is a short guy that
looks like he is in his early fifties. He wears a long pony tail and always dress like he is going to the beach everyday. All he needs next is a skateboard.
When he talks, he talks fast like he could be a auctioneer. He probably is outside of his career. The bad thing is that I have to bring a voice recorder in
class in order to catch up of what he said. Another funny thing about him is that he brings a big mug of coffee and always spills it on the classroom
floor. He does not spill it on purpose. He holds...show more content...
I think she has got to be the most freaked–out teacher assistant I ever met. She is a graduate student almost completing her doctorate in
Industrial–Organizational Psychology. In Research Analysis, we have a lab lecture and she teaches it. She grades our assignments and tests. She is
a sweet person, but sometimes she grades a little too harsh and with me, she grades my test wrong for some strange reasons. For example, she gave
me a 76 ,but she miscalculated the grade and I actually made a 86. She miscalculated my two of my exams. I don't know if she rushes or she is
dealing with too much. Since she is a graduate student, I can't fully understand her pain until I am in her

Goals : My Personal Goals And Long-Term Goals
Goals are important to have; it helps you to focus your energy and perform to your best abilities. Growing up my mom always wanted us to establish
goals because it would give us something to look forward to and feel accomplished once we reached that goal. Before coming to college I knew it was
important for me to not only set long term goals but short term goals as well; motivation to keep me going to reach my long term goals. As a result I
ended up with 3 short–term goals, and three long–term goals and I feel that me being at Spelman will not only help me to meet these goals but set new
ones and I am well aware of that. As with anything in life when you gain new knowledge things in your perspective will change; which is why I am
open to my goals changing.
My first short–term goal is to maintain a GPA of 3.5 and higher. There are many reasons for this; one because my parents expect nothing but the best,
secondly because I know that I can accomplish it. During our first meeting with Dr. Blash she was explaining her expectations for us as Health Science
majors. She posed the question to us " what GPA do you need to maintain for this semester ?" My immediate response was 3.5 and she looked a
little taken aback and replied " I was gonna say at least a 3.0 but now it's 3.5." Although we are stem majors and our workload may be more intense
then some we need to push ourselves to knew heights. My first long–term goal connect with my first short–term goal ; to graduate college

Examples Of My Long Term Goals
My long term goal is to gain the skills that I can use to provide support to my community and I believe I can do this by obtaining my bachelor's in
nursing from Georgia College State University. I've grown up hearing stories of how charities and nurses helped my cousin's life be a good one. As a
baby, she was diagnosed with leukemia. The hospital, nurse's, and charities did amazing things to help her. They made it a happy time for her. The
nurses and community helped raise money for my family. I want to be able to do the same for families as they did for mine. This is how I found what
I wanted to do. I've always had a hard time deciding what I wanted to be. I just knew I wanted to be able to help people. There are many ways to help
someone,

Long-Term Goals: Obtaining A Bachelor's Degree
Last year I sent my third and final child off to college. At that point I had to determine what my next steps with my personal and professional life
would be. One of the main things that I never accomplished was receiving my degree, so I decided to enroll in Patten University and begin my
journey of obtaining my Bachelors of Arts degree in Leadership Management. In earning my degree it would offer me additional opportunities with my
professional career in obtaining a position that would only be given to someone that has a degree.
My first long–term goals is to earn my Bachelors degree. When thinking about my education there are a few short–term goals that I can accomplish
along the way. One of the first goals that I want to do is to establish a study routine that will allow me to effectively work through each of the units
within the courses. My second goal is to complete at least two classes per term with a third goal of having a grade of a B or better in every class. By
completing these three short term goals, I feel confident that I will be successful in earning my Bachelors degree and completing it in a short period of
time....show more content...
The first short term goal that can help me accomplish this is to apply all the new skills that I am learning throughout my courses to my workplace as I
learn them. As for my second short term goal, I will meet with my manager to update my career path and succession plan. This will help to determine
what additional internal qualifications that I need to meet to advance with my company. My final short term goal is to test for the Professionals in
Human Resources (PHR) certification. Most high level human resource positons require a PHR or SPHR certification. This certification shows that
you are competent in your knowledge of human resource

A Short Term And Long Term Goals
As life moves forward, your goals will inevitably change and your definition of success and happiness changes with them. It may be time to take a
look at your goals and redefine them for a happy ending. Ask yourself what you want to accomplish. Most people envision a far–off future where
they're doing exactly what they want, have what they want, and live the way they want. It's all kind of fuzzy, with vague notions of future happiness
hinging on retirement in a sunny place where it never rains. The reality is that about 80 percent of people don't have a clue as to what their long–term
aspirations are. And that's a shame because we need to have goals to reach for. They help to identify what it is we want and how we're going to get
there. They bring that fuzzy notion of a far–off happy future into sharp focus. Goals can be divided into short–term and long–term objectives. A
short–term goal is something you want to accomplish in the near future, such as planting a garden next week, or buying a new car before the end of
the year. A long–term goal is for further down the road like graduating from college, or saving for that sunny retirement you long for. They require more
time and planning than a short–term goal and can be difficult to set. Here are a few tips to help make it easier for you to set or readjust your
objectives. Take a moment to think about what you want to achieve or change in your long–term agenda. Visualize where you want to be in five years,

My Long Term Goal Is My Life
I would love to get back into running. It used to be a passion of mine, a way to relieve stress, kept me in shape, and maintained my weight. Since I
have stopped running there's no motivation for physical activity, I'm out of shape, and gained weight. My long term goal is to get back into running
everyday. It will put me back into a healthy lifestyle and will make me feel better over all.
If I do not return to running it will affect my physical health by making me gain more weight, and continue to be out shape. This can make me
become lazy. Socially it has affected me because I pushed the friends I had away that I used to run with. I was ashamed to tell them that I was
getting lazy. Running used to help me clear my mind and allowed me to focus on priorities, but now that I have stopped, I no longer can fully clear
my mind. This is affecting my ability to perform my best in school. Without running everyday, spiritually I feel like I've just been going through the
motions of life, but not really living up to my potential. Since I pushed away all my friend who supported my running, I do not have an environment
that is supportive of physical activity. All of these factors are making me live an unhealthy lifestyle.
If I do return to running I will lose the weight I gained, and be in shape. I would be surrounded with people who support me living a healthy lifestyle. I
would be a lot less stressed and would be thinking a lot clearer. I will actually be able to remember

Long Term Academic Goals
My long term academic goal is to graduate from college with a four year degree, then continue on to pursue an MD and PhD. I hope to be able to
attend Columbia University, where I can enroll in the university's MD/PhD program after graduation. Of course, there are many other schools that
also offer an MD/PhD program for graduate students, but Columbia University is my top choice of colleges. The MD/PhD program will allow me
to attain a solid background both in the hospital and in research laboratories. This will be a necessity for my career goals, as I wish to work in a
research lab somewhere in the city, possibly at Columbia or in the facilities that coordinate with the work going on there. Asides from Columbia, I am

Item 1.1: What are your longer–term goals relating to your undertaking of higher education studies, and how do these relate to specific information you

step in gaining this goal is to begin a 2 year engineering degree by semester 3 in 2016 and complete it in full–time mode. While working on

of employment. Through the use of career choice software and a lot of research I came to select the area of mechanical engineering because it involves

My Long Term Goals
Helping in impoverished communities has been a goal of mine for many years now. I go on mission trips to Jamaica for two weeks at a time, every
year, for the past three years. These mission trips have shaped me into the person I am today and they have also carved out the path in which I want to
lead my life. For many years now, I have wanted to work in a place like Jamaica and provide medical care. This is obviously a long–term goal, because
who would let an 18 year old give them medical advice? Having said that, I have a plan on how I am going to accomplish this goal. Built into this plan
is many different short–term goals, but in the end my long–term goal is to become a doctor and work in developing countries like Jamaica. I have been

Mr. Berry was my biology teacher my sophomore year and is currently my AP biology teacher. He has helped me in so many ways that I can't even
keep track. Mr. Berry teaches with so much passion about biology that I can't be anything other than interested. He is one of the many reason I am
so interested in the way the human body works. He lit a fire in me that has yet to be extinguished. From the day I stepped foot into sophomore year
biology to right now currently in AP biology, I have yet to be anything less than extremely fascinated in the wonderful world of biology andmedicine in
particular. Long–term and short–term goals are great, but only if I have a plan to accomplish them. Luckily enough, that is exactly what I have. I am a
very driven and self–motivated individual. I know that if I set my mind on accomplishing something, I will accomplish it. I want to become a doctor
in order to help impoverished people all over the world in developing countries. I am not just a dreamer, I have a plan in place to accomplish this goal.
My mind is set and there is nothing stopping

Long-Term Goals: A Case Study
I adapted this idea to see what were my client's immediate goals: what they wanted to accomplish in the first few weeks, her intermediate goals: what
she wanted to accomplish when she left the program, and her long–term goals: what she wanted to accomplish overall in her life. This helped me
determine the best course of action for my client. My client's immediate goals were to decrease the amount of anxiety medication (Benzos) she was
prescribed, to begin intensive therapy twice a week and to start the process of working through her Twelve Steps. Like most clients, her motivation
ebbed and flowed; it took her two months to simply get through steps one and two. Step one was particularly difficult, because it asked her to
recognize a higher

What Is Your Long Term Career Goal
My long term career goal is to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and become an essential part of a professional team. Whether in a hospital
or outpatient surgical center, caring for patients is my priority. I am especially interested in a cardiac unit or an endoscopy lab. After graduation, my
objective is to pass the state board exam (NCLEX) and then bridge to Registered Nurse, while working as a Licensed Practical Nurse. I received my
General Education Diploma in 1989, but continued to be a "stay–at–home" mom to raise my children. After they were grown, I took a job at a daycare
to finance my Certified Nurse Aide training. I earned the certification with an "A" then began working in a nursing home for 2 years. I completed all
my prerequisites

My Long Term Goals As A Nursing Student
I am a nursing student. I have a great passion for caring for others. My short term goals are to graduate Riverland Community College with my
Associate's Degree in Nursing this December. I plan to work very hard and prepare to take my nursing licensure exam at the beginning of next year to
become licensed as a registered nurse. I will then transfer to Metropolitan State University to complete my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Some long term goals I have for myself is to achieve my Master's Degree in Nursing. In the mean time I want to work as a nurse and use my skills and
learn as much as I can on the job and to gain experience in the nursing world
In high school I participated in the National Honor Society (NHS) program. This is a program

My Long Range Goals: Professional and Personal As a prospective Biology major and Veterinarian, I hope to gain experience working with plants

accredited veterinary college. Upon acceptance, I will strive towards earning a Doctor of VeterinaryMedicine degree (DVM). If I do not gain
acceptance into a veterinary medicine program, then I will steer myself more towards the forensic science fields. A degree and certification in
veterinary medicine is appealing and preferable to me. However, to keep my options open, the field of forensic science and crime scene investigations

Long–Term Goals
2) Where do you see yourself professionally in 5 years?
In the past, I have volunteered with a variety of organizations such as Rebuild Joplin Head Start, as well as local nursing homes. Volunteering locally
has allowed me to see and understand the prevalence of large–scale problems existing within my own community and has encouraged me to want to
solve local issues as a route towards my career in nonprofit work. For instance, with the Cross–Generational Sharing program I worked to develop, the
Nursing Home Law Center came out with a statistic stating that over 50% of senior nursing home residents do not have family support and may never
have someone visit them. As a result, I wanted to provide the residents with a communication outlet they might enjoy, as well as encourage activities
where students could build relationships with the residents. Seeing the smiles the smiles volunteers could bring to their lives showed me the difference
one can make when bringing volunteers together and working towards a common goal.
In addition, At Head Start as another example, I...show more content...
For instance, I excel in completing the details and lasting effects of a program. However, when it comes to public speaking, I know there is always
room for personal improvement. From taking Foundations of Speech to attending two liberal arts colleges who constantly required presentations and
public speaking, I have become much more confident in my ability to speak in public. I believe that knowing individual strengths and weaknesses
will be important in optimizing and perfecting the work I would accomplish with your company. Giving up on a project or accepting failure is not
my route to success. Rather, I tend to be the person who is always looking to learn from my mistakes so that I may solidify and increase my personal
leadership

My Long Term And Short Term Goals

  • 1. My Long Term and Short Term Goals Professional and Personal Goals December 12, 2011 Someone famous once wrote, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." That's deep! But, in a way, it's obvious and should go without saying. However, so many people try to just jump the whole thousand miles at once and seem to forget that careful steps and rest stops must be made along the way to successfully (the main word is successfully ) complete that journey. I've had my goals and aspirations for a long time but I'm not sure that I ever started out in the most organized fashion. My professional goals remain the same but I now realize that effective time management is the main way to achieve my goals in a less stressful manner. I understand...show more content... My original plan was to pursue my Bachelor's Degree after my sons graduated college, since I support them financially, but when I realized that most of the hospitals require nurses to have a bachelor's degree, I decided that the sooner I start working towards my professional long term goal, the better. It goes without saying that the two most important milestones to achieving this goal will be my sons' individual graduation days. My personal long term goal is to go back to my country of Haiti and offer my assistance to those who have experienced and still experience the hardships and tragedies which the country has undergone. When I left home and came to the United States, I came with a high school diploma but could speak no English. As a single mother, I raised my four sons, worked, and went to school. With the help of scholarships and financial aid, I obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing. I want to "pay it forward", as they say, and give back to my country so that others could receive the same opportunity as I did. This long term personal goal will be greatly influenced by finances. Therefore, one of the milestones to achieving this goal is tied into my professional goals (both long and short term). I will need to acquire one of those more stable positions at one of the area hospitals and I will have to be working there for at least a few years before I would feel comfortable enough to ask for time to return to my country to assist. This is where a timeline Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. My Long-Term Aerobic Goal Over the term of the semester, I was able to fully achieve my fitness goals (and then some), due to a well–structured workout plan, persistence and continued exercise throughout the semester, and reasonable goals. Due to this I was able to significantly improve my cardio and core strength. My long–term aerobic goal was to be able to run the 1.5 mile benchmark run in 9 minutes and 30 seconds, a 3 minute improvement over my initial 11:48 that I tested at initially. I thought this was a reasonable goal over the course of 1 semester given a consistent amount of practice. I met this goal about Вѕ into the semester and was able to consistently run the 1.5 miles every workout session in about 9:10. My aerobic workout schedule consisted of going outside and running the 1.5 mile course every session, pushing myself to my limits every time and thus incrementally improving my time. I found tht the most difficult aspect was to master my own self–effort, as my own internal effort seemed to make the difference between a terrible time and a fantastic, fast, run. Once I was able to control this, however, my times became consistent, and I met my goals every day. My times slowly decreased until I was...show more content... In my initial fitness testing, I was only able to do 22 curl ups, significantly below average, and thus I thought it would be reasonable to set a goal of 60 curl ups in 1 session, which is considered average. By doing many repetitions of 10 curls ups each every day, I was able to build up my muscle strength to the point where I could go for long periods doing curl–ups with little to no fatigue. This was a much more prominent change than the one I noticed with my aerobic workouts, as I would collapse entirely from exhaustion after 20 repetitions early in the semester, whereas later I could do curl–ups exceedingly well. I in fact reached 94 curl–ups on my final fitness Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 4. Immediate And Long-Term Career Goals Please list any immediate and long–term career goals you may have: Looking into the future, I hope to achieve many things as a doctor. Research will not only help me stand out as a medical school applicant, but also determine if I have a true interest in research, something I hope to pursue as a doctor. In order to attend medical school, I will have to complete my education at TCU, take MCAT and prepare myself through other opportunities such as doctor observations and volunteer work. During medical school I hope to discover a specific interest that I can . After medical school and choosing a specialty, I hope to find a program that inspires me and pushes me to pursue further understand and research in that area that I can be excited about Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Long-Term Goal In my community, I volunteer immensely with the 4–H and FFA youth in Pima County and Arizona. I am a cavy judge at local shows throughout the year, as well as a certified shooting sports leader to teach 4–H members safe shooting techniques with rifles. I was also given the opportunity to volunteer with Future Farmer of America student members through my sorority, Sigma Alpha. I will be volunteering with the Meat Evaluation CDE at the State CDE Day, and have applied to be a Camp Counselor at the Arizona State FFA Camp held at Camp Shadow Pines in Herber, Arizona in June. Volunteering with youth involved in agriculture has allowed me to give back to a community that gave me so much during my youth. 4–H transformed me into the young woman I am...show more content... My short–term goal is to graduate from the University of Arizona with a major in Anthropology: Human Biology Emphasis, B.S. and a double minors in Plant Sciences and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. My long–term goal is to become a Forensic Anthropologist, and assist the Federal Bureau of Investigation in reconstructing discovered bodies and determining the cause of death. I'm attracted to working the field of criminal justice because I would be solving the ultimate problem: how did the individual leave this world. Majoring in Anthropology allows me to solve this question. Bones tell us so much, from a person's diet to any broken bones they faced during their life, and this can be used to solve the final problem of their life. Plant Science comes into play because we can look at the life cycle of a plant as it grows around bones, and determine how long the bones have been in the area; solving problems and relating other parts to solve the problem. Ecology and Evolutionary Biology is directly connected to both fields, allowing me to delve deeper into two worlds I enjoy. I would be happy with a career in either field, but I hope to blend them and have a career involving all Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Long Term Goal Analysis I have five more months to graduate with my bachelor's and I have to say that I am almost finished completing one of my long–term goals. Right now, I am almost near done with my Research Analysis course for the summer semester and I have to say that this class was .....weird and interesting. At first I thought I was going to panic (as always) because it was challenging but as I got use to the lecture and exams, I have gotten better. Today, I took another exam and the whole class and I stayed longer taking the exam because the professor did a slight twist in order to explain deeply about the statistical tests. Therefore, we are all clueless of what our grade will be once we get them back. My professor is a character. He is a short guy that looks like he is in his early fifties. He wears a long pony tail and always dress like he is going to the beach everyday. All he needs next is a skateboard. When he talks, he talks fast like he could be a auctioneer. He probably is outside of his career. The bad thing is that I have to bring a voice recorder in class in order to catch up of what he said. Another funny thing about him is that he brings a big mug of coffee and always spills it on the classroom floor. He does not spill it on purpose. He holds...show more content... I think she has got to be the most freaked–out teacher assistant I ever met. She is a graduate student almost completing her doctorate in Industrial–Organizational Psychology. In Research Analysis, we have a lab lecture and she teaches it. She grades our assignments and tests. She is a sweet person, but sometimes she grades a little too harsh and with me, she grades my test wrong for some strange reasons. For example, she gave me a 76 ,but she miscalculated the grade and I actually made a 86. She miscalculated my two of my exams. I don't know if she rushes or she is dealing with too much. Since she is a graduate student, I can't fully understand her pain until I am in her Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Goals : My Personal Goals And Long-Term Goals Goals are important to have; it helps you to focus your energy and perform to your best abilities. Growing up my mom always wanted us to establish goals because it would give us something to look forward to and feel accomplished once we reached that goal. Before coming to college I knew it was important for me to not only set long term goals but short term goals as well; motivation to keep me going to reach my long term goals. As a result I ended up with 3 short–term goals, and three long–term goals and I feel that me being at Spelman will not only help me to meet these goals but set new ones and I am well aware of that. As with anything in life when you gain new knowledge things in your perspective will change; which is why I am open to my goals changing. My first short–term goal is to maintain a GPA of 3.5 and higher. There are many reasons for this; one because my parents expect nothing but the best, secondly because I know that I can accomplish it. During our first meeting with Dr. Blash she was explaining her expectations for us as Health Science majors. She posed the question to us " what GPA do you need to maintain for this semester ?" My immediate response was 3.5 and she looked a little taken aback and replied " I was gonna say at least a 3.0 but now it's 3.5." Although we are stem majors and our workload may be more intense then some we need to push ourselves to knew heights. My first long–term goal connect with my first short–term goal ; to graduate college Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Examples Of My Long Term Goals My long term goal is to gain the skills that I can use to provide support to my community and I believe I can do this by obtaining my bachelor's in nursing from Georgia College State University. I've grown up hearing stories of how charities and nurses helped my cousin's life be a good one. As a baby, she was diagnosed with leukemia. The hospital, nurse's, and charities did amazing things to help her. They made it a happy time for her. The nurses and community helped raise money for my family. I want to be able to do the same for families as they did for mine. This is how I found what I wanted to do. I've always had a hard time deciding what I wanted to be. I just knew I wanted to be able to help people. There are many ways to help someone, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Long-Term Goals: Obtaining A Bachelor's Degree Last year I sent my third and final child off to college. At that point I had to determine what my next steps with my personal and professional life would be. One of the main things that I never accomplished was receiving my degree, so I decided to enroll in Patten University and begin my journey of obtaining my Bachelors of Arts degree in Leadership Management. In earning my degree it would offer me additional opportunities with my professional career in obtaining a position that would only be given to someone that has a degree. My first long–term goals is to earn my Bachelors degree. When thinking about my education there are a few short–term goals that I can accomplish along the way. One of the first goals that I want to do is to establish a study routine that will allow me to effectively work through each of the units within the courses. My second goal is to complete at least two classes per term with a third goal of having a grade of a B or better in every class. By completing these three short term goals, I feel confident that I will be successful in earning my Bachelors degree and completing it in a short period of time....show more content... The first short term goal that can help me accomplish this is to apply all the new skills that I am learning throughout my courses to my workplace as I learn them. As for my second short term goal, I will meet with my manager to update my career path and succession plan. This will help to determine what additional internal qualifications that I need to meet to advance with my company. My final short term goal is to test for the Professionals in Human Resources (PHR) certification. Most high level human resource positons require a PHR or SPHR certification. This certification shows that you are competent in your knowledge of human resource Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. A Short Term And Long Term Goals As life moves forward, your goals will inevitably change and your definition of success and happiness changes with them. It may be time to take a look at your goals and redefine them for a happy ending. Ask yourself what you want to accomplish. Most people envision a far–off future where they're doing exactly what they want, have what they want, and live the way they want. It's all kind of fuzzy, with vague notions of future happiness hinging on retirement in a sunny place where it never rains. The reality is that about 80 percent of people don't have a clue as to what their long–term aspirations are. And that's a shame because we need to have goals to reach for. They help to identify what it is we want and how we're going to get there. They bring that fuzzy notion of a far–off happy future into sharp focus. Goals can be divided into short–term and long–term objectives. A short–term goal is something you want to accomplish in the near future, such as planting a garden next week, or buying a new car before the end of the year. A long–term goal is for further down the road like graduating from college, or saving for that sunny retirement you long for. They require more time and planning than a short–term goal and can be difficult to set. Here are a few tips to help make it easier for you to set or readjust your objectives. Take a moment to think about what you want to achieve or change in your long–term agenda. Visualize where you want to be in five years, ten Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. My Long Term Goal Is My Life I would love to get back into running. It used to be a passion of mine, a way to relieve stress, kept me in shape, and maintained my weight. Since I have stopped running there's no motivation for physical activity, I'm out of shape, and gained weight. My long term goal is to get back into running everyday. It will put me back into a healthy lifestyle and will make me feel better over all. If I do not return to running it will affect my physical health by making me gain more weight, and continue to be out shape. This can make me become lazy. Socially it has affected me because I pushed the friends I had away that I used to run with. I was ashamed to tell them that I was getting lazy. Running used to help me clear my mind and allowed me to focus on priorities, but now that I have stopped, I no longer can fully clear my mind. This is affecting my ability to perform my best in school. Without running everyday, spiritually I feel like I've just been going through the motions of life, but not really living up to my potential. Since I pushed away all my friend who supported my running, I do not have an environment that is supportive of physical activity. All of these factors are making me live an unhealthy lifestyle. If I do return to running I will lose the weight I gained, and be in shape. I would be surrounded with people who support me living a healthy lifestyle. I would be a lot less stressed and would be thinking a lot clearer. I will actually be able to remember Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Long Term Academic Goals My long term academic goal is to graduate from college with a four year degree, then continue on to pursue an MD and PhD. I hope to be able to attend Columbia University, where I can enroll in the university's MD/PhD program after graduation. Of course, there are many other schools that also offer an MD/PhD program for graduate students, but Columbia University is my top choice of colleges. The MD/PhD program will allow me to attain a solid background both in the hospital and in research laboratories. This will be a necessity for my career goals, as I wish to work in a research lab somewhere in the city, possibly at Columbia or in the facilities that coordinate with the work going on there. Asides from Columbia, I am preparing to apply to several Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Long Term Goals Essay Item 1.1: What are your longer–term goals relating to your undertaking of higher education studies, and how do these relate to specific information you obtained from your self–analysis in Assignment 1 Part B? My objective is to be registered as a graduate associate engineer by the year 2019. The first step in gaining this goal is to begin a 2 year engineering degree by semester 3 in 2016 and complete it in full–time mode. While working on Assignment 1 Part B; it showed that I was very interested in being creative and solving problems, it also indicated that I enjoyed having a secure field of employment. • 14. My Long Term Goals Helping in impoverished communities has been a goal of mine for many years now. I go on mission trips to Jamaica for two weeks at a time, every year, for the past three years. These mission trips have shaped me into the person I am today and they have also carved out the path in which I want to lead my life. For many years now, I have wanted to work in a place like Jamaica and provide medical care. This is obviously a long–term goal, because who would let an 18 year old give them medical advice? Having said that, I have a plan on how I am going to accomplish this goal. Built into this plan is many different short–term goals, but in the end my long–term goal is to become a doctor and work in developing countries like Jamaica. I have been wanting to become a doctor...show more content... Mr. Berry was my biology teacher my sophomore year and is currently my AP biology teacher. He has helped me in so many ways that I can't even keep track. Mr. Berry teaches with so much passion about biology that I can't be anything other than interested. He is one of the many reason I am so interested in the way the human body works. He lit a fire in me that has yet to be extinguished. From the day I stepped foot into sophomore year biology to right now currently in AP biology, I have yet to be anything less than extremely fascinated in the wonderful world of biology andmedicine in particular. Long–term and short–term goals are great, but only if I have a plan to accomplish them. Luckily enough, that is exactly what I have. I am a very driven and self–motivated individual. I know that if I set my mind on accomplishing something, I will accomplish it. I want to become a doctor in order to help impoverished people all over the world in developing countries. I am not just a dreamer, I have a plan in place to accomplish this goal. My mind is set and there is nothing stopping Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Long-Term Goals: A Case Study I adapted this idea to see what were my client's immediate goals: what they wanted to accomplish in the first few weeks, her intermediate goals: what she wanted to accomplish when she left the program, and her long–term goals: what she wanted to accomplish overall in her life. This helped me determine the best course of action for my client. My client's immediate goals were to decrease the amount of anxiety medication (Benzos) she was prescribed, to begin intensive therapy twice a week and to start the process of working through her Twelve Steps. Like most clients, her motivation ebbed and flowed; it took her two months to simply get through steps one and two. Step one was particularly difficult, because it asked her to recognize a higher Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. What Is Your Long Term Career Goal My long term career goal is to earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and become an essential part of a professional team. Whether in a hospital or outpatient surgical center, caring for patients is my priority. I am especially interested in a cardiac unit or an endoscopy lab. After graduation, my objective is to pass the state board exam (NCLEX) and then bridge to Registered Nurse, while working as a Licensed Practical Nurse. I received my General Education Diploma in 1989, but continued to be a "stay–at–home" mom to raise my children. After they were grown, I took a job at a daycare to finance my Certified Nurse Aide training. I earned the certification with an "A" then began working in a nursing home for 2 years. I completed all my prerequisites Get more content on HelpWriting.net

My short term goals are to graduate Riverland Community College with my Associate's Degree in Nursing this December. I plan to work very hard and prepare to take my nursing licensure exam at the beginning of next year to become licensed as a registered nurse. I will then transfer to Metropolitan State University to complete my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Some long term goals I have for myself is to achieve my Master's Degree in Nursing. In the mean time I want to work as a nurse and use my skills and learn as much as I can on the job and to gain experience in the nursing world In high school I participated in the National Honor Society (NHS) program. I plan to put my experience and qualifications to use by applying for an accredited veterinary college. Upon acceptance, I will strive towards earning a Doctor of VeterinaryMedicine degree (DVM). If I do not gain acceptance into a veterinary medicine program, then I will steer myself more towards the forensic science fields. A degree and certification in veterinary medicine is appealing and preferable to me. • 19. Long Term Goals Essay Long–Term Goals 2) Where do you see yourself professionally in 5 years? In the past, I have volunteered with a variety of organizations such as Rebuild Joplin Head Start, as well as local nursing homes. Volunteering locally has allowed me to see and understand the prevalence of large–scale problems existing within my own community and has encouraged me to want to solve local issues as a route towards my career in nonprofit work. For instance, with the Cross–Generational Sharing program I worked to develop, the Nursing Home Law Center came out with a statistic stating that over 50% of senior nursing home residents do not have family support and may never have someone visit them. As a result, I wanted to provide the residents with a communication outlet they might enjoy, as well as encourage activities where students could build relationships with the residents. Seeing the smiles the smiles volunteers could bring to their lives showed me the difference one can make when bringing volunteers together and working towards a common goal.
