2. SEMICONDUCTORS
Semiconductors are materials whose
electrical properties lie between
Conductors and Insulators.
Ex : Silicon(Si) , Germanium(Ge)
Two-types of semiconductor :
1. intrinsic semiconductor
2. extrinsic semiconductor
3. P-TYPE SEMICONDUCTOR
A p-type material is one in which holes are
majority carriers i.e they are positively charged
materials (+++++++)

4. N-TYPE SEMICONDUCTOR
A p-type material is one in which electrons are
majority charge carriers i.e they are negatively
charged materials (- - - - - - )
Pentavalent impurities

5. DIODES
Electronics devices created by bringing together a
p-type and n-type region within the same
semiconductors lattice.
Used : Rectifiers , LED etc.
