4. Once Pre-assessment (Phase I) is
complete, the Planning Phase begins…
• You’ve completed the pre-assessment phase
of the MPAS PGS.
• Now, you and your supervisor meet to
1. Set your baseline scores
2. Identify your annual goals
5. 1. Setting Your Baseline
• Baseline scores are not evaluations; evaluation occurs
at the end of the process - almost a year from now.
• Baseline scores identify professional growth
opportunities and are based on pre-assessment results
you, your supervisor, and the faculty provide.
• Setting baseline scores is intended to be the outcome
of a collaborative, informed discussion between you
and your supervisor.
• You will use the automated, salmon colored portion of
the tracking tool to capture your baseline scores.
6.
7. • Now that you’ve established your
baseline scores, you and your
supervisor will determine which of the
seven core competencies need to be
addressed by annual evaluation goals.
• This is the point at which you move to
the green Planning Section of the
Annual Planning and Tracking Tool.
8.
9. 2. Identifying Your Goals
Your Plan includes goals that address all your responsibilities.
• Pre-assessment goals based on your baseline scores.
• District goals.
• School goals.
• State mandated goals (35% student growth).
• Stakeholder (faculty) feedback goals.
• Yet-to-be-completed goals from previous evaluations.
10. Making Your Meeting Manageable
At this meeting, we recommend you discuss the entire green
planning section in general terms (slide 7) but limit specifics
to the goals themselves and their relative weight.
It’s important to discuss metrics but only in general terms.
What will success look like? What kinds of evidence make
sense? What will I need for support?
After the meeting, you complete and send to your supervisor
a Draft Plan with specific strategies and tactics, metrics, and
target goals. The two of you iterate that Draft Plan until your
supervisor approves what becomes your Final Plan.
11.
12.
13. When the Draft is approved, you’re
Ready for Phase III:
