17. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Technology
In a highly digitized and connected world
mainly driven by smart devices, work is no
longer limited to reporting to the office.
On-line jobs can be done at home.
18. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Outsourcing
Today more than ever, companies try to cut
on cost and save resources. One practice by
which they are able to do these is by
outsourcing.
19. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Outsourcing
Outsourcing is getting portions of work done
through outside suppliers rather than
completing it internally. The call center
industry is an example of an outsourcing
practice that continues to expand in the
country.
20. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Changing workersâ attitudes and values
Different generations exhibit different
qualities, attitudes and values. Recent years
have focused on striking a balance between
work and life. Workers need to love their
work but should have other interests outside
the office, too.
21. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Demographics and diversity
With better medical care, people are living
longer and life expectancy increases. In the
next 10 years, five generationsâ
traditionalists, Boomers, Gen X, Gen Y and
Gen Z â will be working together. Different
generations must be able to capitalize on
their tools while working harmoniously with
one another.
22. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Globalization
Companies are extending their businesses on
an international scale. Some companies are
on a 24-hour operation scheme to meet the
demands of their clients and the global
market. The dispersion of work
geographically makes it possible to get work
done.
23. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Seven Câs
of Lifelong
Skills
24. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Critical Thinking and Doing
This skill requires you to look at a problem
with âdiscerning eyesâ. You should be able
to see the flaws and errors and decide on a
solution. In a myriad of information, you
have to develop this skill of discriminating
what is important and relevant.
25. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Critical Thinking and Doing
This entails research, analysis and decision
making. Application completes the steps.
You need to follow calculated steps and
manage the implementation of your
decision.
26. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Creativity
Successfully turning new and imaginative
ideas into reality is needed to create and
design best fit solutions. This includes
innovation that generates unique products
and services or even, new ways of doing
things.
27. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Collaboration
No one lives and survives alone. You need to
engage and work with others to survive.
Empathy which is putting yourself in other
peopleâs shoes is needed for understanding.
Compromising and community-building can
only be achieved through looking at someone
elseâs perspective and situation, as well.
28. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Cross-Cultural Understanding
Everyday millions of people around the globe
travel for education, leisure, business and
profession. Keeping yourself level headed
and respectful of the many differences
among cultures will enable you to live
peacefully with the peoples of the world.
29. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Communication
You are not only communicating to be
understood but also, to be not
misunderstood. Therefore, another skill that
must be developed is your ability to craft
ideas and messages and deliver them in a
manner that is clear and purposeful.
30. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Computing / ICT Literacy
Effective use of digital devices will enable
you to communicate, collaborate and
advocate. You must keep yourself abreast
with the many advances in the technology to
keep yourself relevant.
31. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs
Career and Learning Self-
Reliance
Throughout your life you must be able to
able to grow, redefine and reinvent yourself.
This means being able to develop yourself by
managing change and adapting to it. Just
like what Heraclitus said, âthe only thing
that is constant is change.â
33. GRADE 12 CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAM: DISCOVERING THE Câs

1. What are the five (5) global trends that affect the
global workforce? How can knowing them help you as a
Grade 12 student?
2. How will lifelong learning help you in succeeding in
life and career?
3. Do you agree with Heraclitus when he said, âthe
only thing that is constant is changeâ? Explain.

At the end of this module, you are expected to:
1. determine the different sources of information
relevant to curriculum exits;
2. evaluate the different sources of information relevant
to their preferred curriculum exit;
3. match the knowledge and skills to the job market
demands and possible curriculum exits; and
4. value the importance of a chosen track/strand.
40. REFLECTION

your curriculum exit fits with your
current abilities or skills?
â˘Do you already have the enough
information? How can you say so?
41. REFLECTION

â˘What value/s can you derive from this
module that you can apply in planning

42. EVALUATION
42
My Career Information Sheet
Procedure:
⢠Distribute the Career Information Sheets.
⢠Instruct the learners to map out other preferred
alternatives aside from their preferred curriculum exit.
⢠Let the learners answer the questions as provided in the
Sheet by writing it in the intended box/cell.
45. Learning Objectives
At the end of this module, you are expected to:
⢠Analyze information gathered through people
with the chosen career or curriculum exit that will
affirm decisions made in choosing the career or
curriculum exit;
⢠Evaluate the role of people with the chosen
career or curriculum exit in terms of beliefs,
attitudes and skills; and
⢠Make career road map as an expression of
commitment to oneâs chosen career or
curriculum exit.
46. Info-Bits
⢠First hand information can be a very rich source of
information.
⢠It is the information (the beliefs, attitudes and skills)
and success stories that you get from the people
whom you want to be in the future could make you
more enthusiastic in pursuing your goals.
⢠This is also called observational learning.
47. ⢠By shadowing a person or the âMore
Knowledgeable Otherâ or MKO (Vygotsky, 2014)
in his place of work and by asking pertinent
questions it is believed that these new
information will help you in cementing your
decisions to pursue your chosen career.
48. ⢠Informational observation also strengthens the claim
of the creative job hunting principle (Woodcock,
2014) where it says that the best way to choose a
career is to talk to people doing the job.
⢠There is a lot of truth in the statement that you donât
really know what itâs like until you have been doing it
for a while.
49. ⢠The idea of the observation is to promote
learning context where you play an active role
and become responsible for your own learning.
⢠Choosing the right course is a big decision and
it is important to get it right, as it can impact
future success.
⢠Career awareness and self-awareness go
hand-in-hand.
50. ⢠As Stephen Covey says from his
famous book The 7 Habits of
Highly Effective People, Begin
with the end in mind.
⢠You visualize what you wanted
to become and you are already
on you first step of achieving
your goals.
52. Crafting A Career Road Map
What is a Career Road Map?
⢠According to an article by Cao
(2013) a career road map outlines
specific steps to undertake for
moving from one step to another in
ways that will facilitate growth and
career advancement.
⢠This could be an illustration or
diagram that could easily be
understood by the individual who
crafted it.
53. Career road maps are flexible
enough and could be revisited
and revised over time or as the
circumstance warrants in order
for you to keep track of your
progress or to address issues
that hinders the achievement of
your goals.
54. The career road map, upon
accomplishing should be
communicated to
parents/guardians or significant
people whom you think in one way
or the other will be involved in the
attainment of the desired goal.
55. Here is a sample template of a career road
map.
57. Assignment
⢠Make a survey of the existing company or enterprise in your
locality and ask for their own vision, mission goals and core
values.
⢠You may use the template to accomplish the task.
59. OBJECTIVES:
1. Formulate mission statements in relation to
life and career decisions aligned to the
curriculum exits;
2. link life and career decisions to the current
demands and trends in the regional and global
level; and
3. appreciate how life and career decisions may
contribute to national development.
60. LECTURETTE
Personal mission statement according to Stephen R. Covey
enables a person to connect âwith (his) own unique purpose and the
profound satisfaction that comes from fulfilling it.
This statement provides an individual with a clear direction of
where he wants to go and what he wants to achieve. As learners are
about to embark on their career in any of the four curriculum exits,
such statement will allow them to focus on the path they will follow
with conviction in the face of any challenging circumstances.
For a personal mission statement to become fulfilling, it has to
make a difference in other peopleâs lives or organization. This means a
person will seek his purpose not only for himself but how he can
contribute best to the world in general, his family, his prospective
employer, his friends, and to the community.
61. LECTURETTE
The Departmentâs labor market study, Projects JobsFit: DOLE 2022, reflects
the regional industries key employment generators and current occupational and
courses trends and demands in the local and global scenario (please refer to
Appendices 3 and 4).
What the learners must also realize and sincerely understand is that the
country is banking on them to contribute to the national development. Needless
to say, the government has invested on them as human capital, with the hope
that in the near future, they will partake in the noble mission to build the country
and usher it to the progress that it has visualized for the people and the nation.
As such, the learners are highly enjoined to commit themselves to live up to
their personal mission statement in making a difference to other peopleâs lives
and give contribution to the community at large. When learners collectively align
their personal missions to this end, the vision of nation building through them
becomes attainable.
