1. CAREER INTERVIEW QUESTONS
1. What do you do in your job?
I work in a 24 x 7 x 365 environment where I monitor and test troubleshoot servers
and websites for the local area network.
2. What is a typical day like for the position?
The days are very smooth when the servers are runnng, but when there is a problem
with the servers you have about 15 minues to get it up before you have to pass it on to
the next department.
3. What hours do you work?
Currently my hours are from 7:30am to 4:15pm
4. What school subjects are important for this job?
Writing and English skills are important and of course knowledge in the computer
language.
5. How and when did you decide to enter his job?
My interest in this job started in 2005 after my second year in college. I changed my
career interest while in college. My major was originally in psychology.
6. What are the most rewarding aspects of the position? What are the most
challenging components of the position?
The most rewardng is the pay. The challenge for me was getting certified. The test
you have to pass are very demanding.
7. Did you have a career plan that you followed?
Yes, my plan was to go college to learn as much information about my career no
matter how long it takes. Just stay focus on you dream.
8. What major changes have happened in your career area since you have been
working?
2. Technology continues to grow and change. You are constantly learning.
9. Would you change anythng about your job?
No.
10. Did school prepare you adequately for your work?
Yes. I feel competent and prepared.
11. How do you coordinate your family/home/job responsiblities?
Well, I'm a single male, I have no kids and my responsibilities is a no stress zone. I
haven't gave that much thought. I just go to school, study and go to work. Not much
of a personal life right now. I'm dedicated to my career.
12. What personal characteristics are important in your job? (Working with
people, dta, things good speaking and writing skills, working under pressure,
working inside or outside).
Being able to work in a team environment. You must pay attention to detail and have
the abilty to follow written and verbal instructions. Working under pressure is a must
and you have to be ready to work in a timed quick pace environment.
