2. ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING – AN
INTRODUCTION
Electrical Engineering is one of
the fastest growing fields that
involves study and application of
electricity and electronics.
It is the most interesting branch of
engineering because it involves
study of computer, electrical and
electronics and communication.
Electrical engineering deals with
generation, transmission and
distribution of electricity.
5. Power Grid – Providing Electricity to entire city

12. WHY UNEMPLOYMENT ??
• Large number of students
passing out each year, from
various courses – traditional, as
well as professional
• Many good organizations are
struggling to find and recruit
good employees
• ‘Employable’ people are having
abundant employment
• Not many institutes in India are
able to bridge this demand-
supply gap
17. HABITS TO BECOME A EMPLOYABLE
ENGINEER.?
• Join engineering ”TECHNICAL” clubs and organizations
while in college.
• Get into research.
• Get an internship/training.
CGPA is one of the important factors that matters for
getting selected to a company. Interns, research interns
involving work in the area of the work of the company is an
important criterion to get recruited into companies.
Companies test the knowledge of the person in the area of
the profile the company offers.
• Network with others.
• Do well in classes.
• Manage your time.
18. SOME EXTRA TIPS
• Study your subjects of your interest thoroughly.
• Do prepare in groups, it will help you in clearing
your doubts and also it will improve your
interview skills.
• Focus on Core Subjects.
• Try to visit some industries.
• Try to learn something extra apart from your
branch subjects
• Basic concepts should be clear.
19. “SKILL INDIA” MISSION
KEY FEATURES
• Skill development of the youth in such a way so that they get employment and
also improve entrepreneurship.
• Provides training, support and guidance for all occupations that were of
traditional type like carpenters, welders, blacksmiths etc.
• Tailor-made, need-based programmes for specific age groups which can be like
language and communication skills, life and positive thinking skills, personality
development skills, management skills, behavioural skills, including job and
employability skills.
• Innovative course methodology, which would include games, group discussions,
brainstorming sessions, practical experiences, case studies etc.
GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES FOR
ENGINEERS
20. Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY)
• Key objectives of this scheme are to cover the skills
training of about 24 lakh people.
• NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework): to decide
specific skill needs.
• NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation): to assess
the specific skills trainings to be imparted, on the basis of
demand in recent skills gap by a study for 2013-17 period.
• Central ministries and state government departments
were consulted and the inputs of various industry and
business heads were also considered.
• Currently, about 1000+ job categories are being catered to
by the skills training imparted under the scheme.

26. CURRENT TREND IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING?
Let’s take a look at some of the most exciting new ideas
in the field.1.
High Efficiency Photovoltaic Cells:-
One of the enduring challenges of modern electrical
engineering is to find an implementation of
photovoltaic technology that is efficient, effective
under varying operating conditions, and highly
resistant to damage – while not being cost-
prohibitive.
Green Energy Electrical Power Converter:-
Once you collect energy, converting it for use in the
electrical system is an essential next step. A new
power converter developed in the Department of
Electrical Engineering at the University of Arkansas
will now make it easier for users of to shunt excess
energy into the power grid..
27. Smart Electrical Grids:-As energy systems
become more complex and energy sources
become more diverse, smart grids are growing in
importance worldwide. Smart grids integrate
innovative electrical technology at multiple levels
to improve flow control, detect malfunctions, and
automate service delivery.
A hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) :-Is a type of hybrid
vehicle that combines a conventional internal
combustion engine (ICE) system with
an electric propulsion system (hybrid vehicle
drivetrain).
Eye Tracking Technology:-As many
consumers develop an adversarial relationship to
conventional digital advertising, eye tracking
becomes essential – not only to deliver
commercial messages, but to better understand
what information is of greatest interest.

28. Wireless Wearable Tech. The idea of the “Personal Area Network”
has been around in computing science for a long time, but it’s only
now becoming a practical reality. Devices can now operate on a
smaller scale than ever and interface seamlessly with the wider
environment. Wearable devices have been developed to
authenticate access to vehicles and machinery, improve reading
comprehension while engaged in exercise, and provide without the
use of a phone.
Graphene. As electrical engineers reach the performance
constraints caused by the fundamental properties of matter,
advances in materials science become essential. Graphene is
perhaps the most important recent innovation. Graphene consists
of a single layer of carbon atoms one million times thinner than
paper. It’s so thin that it is actually considered two-dimensional.
