Here are the Top 5 reasons for environmental degradation explained by Mr Pradip Burman. We people need to act now to save the environment https://www.pradipburman.in/
2. Overconsumption of
resources
Defined as the disintegration of earth through
overconsumption of natural resources which
significantly eradicates wildlife and plant diversity,
environmental degradation is the serious aggravation to
nature’s turf.
Although there is no single issue that can be circled
out from the rest, it is our dysfunctional relationship with
nature and humanity’s constantly growing greed that is
at the root of this pernicious problem. It’s a
consolidation of expanding human population,
increasing monetary development, overused natural
resources and polluting technology that depletes the
natural resources and compromises future generations.
The consequences are extremely detrimental yet
overlooked and seldom ever paid heed to. Being part of
the collective, we must take responsibility for our
‘individual’ actions, but before that it is important to
know the issues that we partake in causing this
3. Overpopulatio
n Thanks to the recent developments over the
years, medical advancement has caused
mortality rates to plummet resulting in
increasing lifespan. However there seems to
be no end to the rapid population growth that
results in excessive consumption and burdens
the overall ecosystem.
Even when we consume reasonably, more
population simply means more food, more
cloth and more shelter for millions of people.
In an effort to curb this growing population
and spread awareness about family planning,
Mobius foundation launched ‘Project Aakar’ to
educate rural communities and change their
attitudes towards contraceptive measures.
4. Land disturbance
A more basic cause of environmental
degradation is land damage. Numerous weed
plants like garlic mustard, are both foreign and
obtrusive. A rupture in the environmental
surroundings allow the weed to grow and spread.
Assuming control over nature they eliminate
the co-existing plant species which gradually
results in a space predominant with a plant that
does not partake in a symbiotic relationship and
drains the environmental life. These weeds are
extremely dangerous because of their invasive
nature and must be destroyed before they
significantly impact whole ecosystems.
5. Pollution whether it is in air, water, land or
noise is harmful for the environment. Whether it
is the deteriorating air quality, water quality or
soil quality; all of them are interlinked to our own
personal health.
Landfills
Pollution
More consumption, more waste and more
irresponsible disposal methods can destroy the
environment. Harmful waste generated by
households, industries, factories and hospitals
pose a serious risk to the health of the
environment and the people who live there. Waste
in landfills when burned releases toxic gases and
can cause a serious impact on the environment.
6. Deforestation
One of the most concerning reasons behind
environmental degradation is deforestation
which is caused by the rapid urban crawl,
wherein the cleaned land is further used for
agriculture, animal grazing, harvest for fuel
wood and logging.
This perpetuates global warming as
decreased forest size puts carbon back into the
environment.
If we are not aware, we are contributing to
this global issue.
However once we take full responsibility for
our actions and unite as a community to take
environmental actions, we will sow the seeds of
a better, brighter future for the next generation.
