• This compelling legal drama revolves around the city’s best lawyer, Harvey Specter, an
egotistical, uncompassionate, charmingly witty Harvard graduate who will do whatever it
takes to win.
• Men are the focal points of the ‘Suits’ plotline, but ‘strong’ female lead Jessica Pearson is
integral to the drive of the plot. As both a character of color and a woman in her 40’s, Jessica
Pearson’s triumphant characterization is already positively but politically charged. Fittingly,
as the superior of the two main protagonists, Jessica is quickly introduced as a ‘strong’, very
successful woman.

sufficient profit centers aroundthem.

16. Strategies
• Despite the lawyers, the drama presents dynamics focused on
leadership, relationship and negotiation.
• In the series, Harvey Specter has tremendous legal and negotiation
powers.
• The purpose is to participate in all the process of purchase of the
potential client, converting all the knowledge in content to the top,
middle or bottom of the funnel, be those influencers or the decision
makers.
17. Strategies
Take time to think.
• M&A negotiations are challenging and require deep thinking and attention to detail.
During negotiations, having everything planned in advance can be your game
changer.
Improvise
• This is very much the rule of negotiation in cases where you already have an upper
hand. When the other party offersyou something that may even be to your benefit,
or wants a certain kind of help or coordination from you, make them work for it.They
will ultimately value what they’re getting even more.
18. Strategies
Play the man, not the odds.
• A good negotiator always goes to the depth of these without pouncing on a sugar-
coated offer.“I don’t get lucky.I make my own luck“, is the man’s motto, and that
happens when you’re prepared.
Do not give into flames.
• A key negotiation and corporate dealing skills are must.As a corporate lawyer, you
will have to deal with frame battles all the time, and if you fall into the other lawyer’s
frame, you are sure to drown yourself and your client during the negotiation.
19. Conclusion
• The series establishes the characters very solidly opening pathways for many story lines which
make it the perfect fit for understanding the organizational structure and operation of a law
firm.
• Having a more vertical structure and clarity of who reports to whom and having only one person
accountable for responsibilities in the firm helps create a more streamlined and efficient law firm
that gets things done.
• Learners can further their understanding of different management and leadership styles
as the three main ‘leaders’ in the episode carry out different leadership styles and these
leadership styles can be seen in practice.
• Corporate governance is a complex topic that can be further understood by watching this
episode of suits as it deals with some issues such as accountability, fairness, integrity
and discipline.
• Changing the higher order management of the firm not only changes the whole culture and
style of the firm but the mentality of the employees also changes.
• In the series, when Robert Zane becomes the managing partner, he dictates his mindset,
imposes the priority of cases and also decides which affairs that be taken forward by the firm.
• This series, hence, is a great watch to understand the change in management or structure of an
organization and the events that follow. It proves why choosing right structure for organization
is very important for a company.
