Vasukamal challenged all the accepted
rules of a residential building design.
The existing residential buildings are
very simple with the regular shape and a
standard size of each unit. Each of them
is uniform without character. Vasukamal
was an attempt to recapture the clarity of
those early residential buildings, together
with some of the lost characteristics of
the living style.

The funnel shape of the building creates
natural shelter which achieves optimum
energy performance by minimizing
the surface area exposed to direct sun
light, while the balconies maintain the
characteristic of each apartment. Each
of the balconies will have more than
270 degree extensive views. The various
depths of the balconies develop the
parabolic curves of the building profile.
Each of the balconies contains flower
beds and decks with evergreen plants,
providing fresh air to the residents.

Beyond its technological innovations,
Vasukamal also sought to harmonies
the nature’s aesthetic sensibilities,
particularly through the use of water
features. At the foot of the entrance,
waterfalls on the podium turn out to
be the water walls on the both sides of
the passage that leads to the public and
private lobby.

Bandra Ohm is a 140m tall residential
tower in India, designed by world
renowned architect James Law of
James Law Cybertecture International.
The design concept of the tower is
inspired by the ripple effect generated
by water droplets, which is also known
as the capillary wave. The image of the
ripple emphasizes fluidity and this idea
is reflected in the tower’s design. The
outline of the tower demonstrates the
fluidity and dynamic nature of the ripple.
The outline and the ripple pattern can be
conceived as an abstract representation
of the symbol Ohm (Ω). The ripple effect
usually generates a vortex-like space in
the center. The tower design is trying
to recapture the essence of this space
by creating a large void in the middle
along with a special designed clubhouse
form. With approximately 30 storeys of
residential units, Bandra Ohm aims to
provide a luxurious living environment
and experience to the residents.

The architectural concept of this tower
is a circular core with the residential flats
as 3 rectangular box moduli located
evenly around the core. The box moduli
are rotated by 2 degrees relative to the
modulus at the floor below.

To promote a good living environment,
trees and green planters are essential.
Green balconies are integrated into each
apartment unit and around the building.
The green space generates fresh air for all
the residents and functions as a heat
buffer zone that helps reduce solar heat

designed by world renowned architect
James Law of James Law Cybertecture
International at the heart of Mumbai.
Uniquely this dynamic 160 metre tall
tower is designed to provide ultra
modern office spaces for a wide range
of business occupants including the
creative industries of the Indian movie
business. Not only can the building form
provide different views and experiences
from the office space inside, the diagonal
façades are installed with LED screens
for film and graphic projection. Tilted
at different angles, the envelope of the
