Senior Day
About Midwestern State
Midwestern State enters the final weekend of the
regular at 22-22 and 9-15 in the Lone Star Confer-
ence. The Mustangs are still alive to qualify for the
conference tournament. To do so, they must sweep
this weekend’s series. Last weekend MSU split a
home series with Texas A&M-Commerce. On Tues-
day, they lost twice to Central Oklahoma in their
final home games of the season.
Last Time Out
Texas A&M-Kingsville dropped the series at
Tarleton State three games to one. With the losses
and combined with other results in the Lone Star
Conference, the Javelinas have been officially elimi-
nated from making the conference tournament.
The TexAnns won the first game 17-2 in five innings
and took the second 6-4 after it was suspended
with one out in the bottom of the fourth. TAMUK
split Sunday’s doubleheader as both ended by the
score of 5-4.
Loren Donaldson and Rachael Longoria led the Blue
and Gold with five hits in the series. Donaldson had
a home run and four RBI while Valerie Ramirez and
Longoria plated two apiece. Ariana Munoz drove in
three as she hit her first collegiate homer.
In the circle, Karri Smith went the distance the final
three games of the weekend. She compiled a 1-2
record with a 2.14 ERA and five strikeouts. Carlie
Clark started game one but was rocked for four
runs on two hits and walks and recorded just two
outs. Bella Rosas threw the final 3.1 innings of that
contest, surrendering 13 runs on 16 hits. She did
record a strikeout in her lone appearance.

recorded nine home runs, 32 RBI and scored 27 times.
Katelyn Vinson is fourth in the LSC with 16 homers while
also driving in 42 and scoring 33 runs. Katy Vandewater
has also reached double-figures in dingers with 10 and
paces the Mustangs in RBI (43). Both are hitting over .300
at .313 and .311, respectively.

Haley Howerton. Paige Stevens is second with 11 swipes.
Taylor Bermudes is next on the squad with six steals.

the field, MSU has committed 58 errors for a .954 fielding
percentage.
In the circle, Tayler Jerrick has a staff-low 3.55 ERA and
team best three shutouts. For the season she is 6-7 in 16
games, 14 of them starts, and has tossed 88.2 innings. Her
63 strikeouts is tied for the most on the staff with Katlyn
Holmes, who is 9-8 with a 5.86 ERA. Holmes’108.2 innings
are are team-high while she has also been credited with
all three of the Mustangs’saves. Rounding out the hurlers
is Erin Knox. She is 7-7 with a 5.56 ERA in 84.1 innings,

innings. Their 32 complete games is second in the league
behind Angelo State. The Mustangs have struck out 172,
issued 124 free passes and have hit 16. Opponents are
hitting .309 against them with 50 doubles, 29 home runs
and 11 triples.
All-Time vs. MSU
MSU maintains a 19-5 series lead over the Javelinas. The
Mustangs have won 12 straight and 16 of the last 17
meetings. TAMUK’s last win came on Feb. 12, 2011 by
the score of 1-0 at Hubert Field. In Kingsville, MSU is 7-3
including a three-game sweep in 2012.
Rain, Rain Go Away
For the fifth time this season rain has forced the cancel-
ation of games. Wednesday the Javelinas’s doubleheader
at Houston-Victoria was washed away after heavy rain
hit the field an hour before first pitch. The eight other
twinbills that have been canceled this year were against
Angelo State, Huston-Tillotson, Texas A&M International
and Texas A&M-Commerce.
TAMUK Eliminated for LSC Tourney Contention
With their three losses to Tarleton State and other results
through out the Lone Star Conference this past weekend,
TAMUK was officially elminiated from qualifying for the
conference tournament. The Javelinas haven’t played in
the LSC Tournament since the 2009 season. They can play
spoilier this weekend when they host Midwestern State.
Historic Tie
The Javelinas recorded a tie for the second time in school
history in the series finale against Texas Woman’s. The
game ended 1-1 with an out in the top of the sixth. It just
so happens that the first tie came against the Pioneers
in Denton, Texas on Mar. 17, 2006 by the score of 2-2 in
10 innings.
Season Split vs. SEU
For only the second time since 2011, TAMUK split the
season series with St. Edward’s. The Javelinas and the
Hilltoppers split both doubleheaders in Austin and
Kingsville. The last time the Blue and Gold split versus
SEU was in 2013.
Clark Named LSC Pitcher of the Week
With her performance last week on the rubber, Carlie
Clark was named the Lone Star Conference’s Pitcher of
the Week. She went 3-0 with a 0.67 ERA, 13 strikeouts,
three complete games and one shutout. It is the first
weekly conference award for the sophomore.
Sweep of Zias
Texas A&M-Kingsville entered into the hunt for a spot in
the LSC Tournament with the sweep of Eastern New Mex-
ico. It was the first time the Javelinas took every game in
a series in conference play since March 12-13, 2010. That
series also took place at Hubert Field against the Zias.
Home Sweet Home Part 1
The Javelinas love to play games at Hubert Field. This
season they are 11-1 after sweeping the four-game series
from Eastern New Mexico. TAMUK is batting .370 and av-
eraging 5.7 runs a game. On the rubber, Javelina pitchers
have combined for a 2.36 ERA, 65 strikeouts and a .275
opponents batting average.
Home Sweet Home Part 2
Carlie Clark has been dominate on the rubber at Hubert
Field in 2015. In six starts, she is 5-0 with five complete
games, two shutouts, a 1.41 ERA and 38 strikeouts. Away
from Kingsville Clark has struggled, going 0-3 with an
8.72 ERA and has struck out just eight.

Weather Effects Schedule Again
Last week inclement weather hit the South Texas
area and caused changes to TAMUK’s schedule. A
doubleheader with Huston-Tillotson was canceled
while two games at St. Mary’s were rescheduled
from Tuesday to Thursday.
St. Edward’s Doubleheader Postponed
March 10’s scheduled doubleheader at home with

pushed back a day, the twinbill was later resched-
uled for April 8.

6-5 record. It was the first time they have finished
the first month of the season with a winning
record since 2009 when they went 14-6. The 2012
Javelinas came close, going 8-8 in the first month
of the season.
Bombs Away
TAMUK blasted four homers in the final game of
the Southeastern Regional Invitational against
Southwestern Oklahoma State. The home run
total is the most by the Javelinas in a game since
also hitting four at Eastern New Mexico on March
25, 2011.
Boyett Goes Yard Twice
Haley Boyett hit two dingers against the Bulldogs,
half of TAMUK’s total in the game. She is the first
Javelina to hit two in a contest since Adela Gomez
at Midwestern State on April 20, 2013. The school
record is three off the bat of Sarah Norman at
Southern Arkansas (Feb. 9, 2002).
Single-Game Caught Stealing Mark
Three times the Javelinas were thrown out try-
ing to steal in the season opener against Texas
A&M International. The mark tied the school’s
single-game school record. The last time the Blue
and Gold were thrown out thrice in a game was
February 1, 2008 versus Texas Woman’s in San
Antonio, Texas.
Season Openers
Texas A&M-Kingsville improved to 11-8 all-time in
season openers after defeating Texas A&M Inter-
national 4-2. They had previously lost two straight

from its orignal date of Feb. 3. With rain on Tues-
day, the two head coaches decided to move the
doublehder to Wednesday, Feb. 4.
Opening at Home
When beginning their year at Hubert Field,
TAMUK is now 8-3. The Javelinas increased their
winning streak to six straight dating back to 2004.
