COMING UP
The Lady Buffs will hit the road this weekend for their
first true road matches of the season with a pair of
Top-20 opponents as they take on #17 Tarleton State
on Friday night at 6 p.m. in Stephenville followed
by a Saturday matchup with #11 Angelo State on
Saturday at 2 p.m. in San Angelo.

#17 TARLETON STATE
The TexAnns are guided by 13th year head coach
Mary Schindler who has led TSU to three straight
NCAA Postseason appearances and the program’s
first LSC Championship in 2015.
TSU enters the weekend with an overall record of
8-4 (2-1 LSC) following a four set win over #11 Angelo
State on Wednesday night in San Angelo. TSU
topped Texas Woman’s in their LSC opener before
falling at Texas A&M-Commerce in a five set thriller.
The TexAnns are led by LSC Preseason Offensive
Player of the Year Hailey Roberts who has registered
a league-leading 201 kills (4.58/set) on 524 swings
with 79 attack errors to hit .233 on the season.
Jordyn Keamo paces the TSU offense with 398
assists (9.05/set) while Adrianna Knutson leads the
way defensively with 176 digs (4.00/set).
TSU has registered 600 kills (13.6/set) on 1,686
attempts with 248 attack errors to hit .209 as a team
so far this season. They average 12.7 assists and 1.3
service aces per set while tallying 731 digs (16.6/set)
and 90.0 total blocks (2.0/set) on the season.
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against
the TexAnns, 42-7 in a series dating back to 1993.
Tarleton has claimed the last five meetings between
the two teams. WT is 19-3 all-time in Stephenville,
dropping their last two trips to Wisdom Gym.
LAST MEETING VS. TSU
- Tarleton State 3, West Texas A&M 0 (10/29/16)
West Texas A&M committed 17 attack errors and hit
just .146 as a team as they fell in straight sets to the
TexAnns of Tarleton State (16-25, 21-25, 17-15).
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Cori Haley
with nine kills on 32 swings with four attack errors to
hit .156 on the afternoon followed by Crystal Thomas
and Taylor Kress with six kills each, Selena Batiste
dished out a team high 21 assists while Lauren
Britten led the Lady Buffs with 11 digs.
#11 ANGELO STATE
The Belles are led by 10th year head coach
Chuck Waddington who has led ASU to six NCAA
Tournament Apperances including last year’s South
Central Regional Title.
ASU enters the weekend with an overall record of
8-4 (0-3 LSC) as they dropped their first three LSC
matches to Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas Woman’s
followed by a four set loss to #17 TSU on Wednesday
night in San Angelo.
The Belles are led by Brianna Sotello who has
registered 172 kills (4.1/set) on 411 swings with 54
attack errors to hit .287 on the season. Meghan
Parker paces the ASU offense with 361 assists
(8.6/set) while Michaela Sifuentes leads the way
defensively with 219 digs (5.21/set).
ASU has registered 592 kills (14.10/set) on 1,569
attempts with 211 attack errors to hit .243 as a team
so far this season. They average 13.4 assists and 1.5
service aces per set while tallying 699 digs (16.6/set)
and 97.0 total blocks (2.3/set) on the season.
The Lady Buffs lead the all-time series against
Angelo State, 56-19 in a series dating back to the
1980 season. The two teams split last year’s season
series with the home team claiming the win in both
matches. WT is 21-9 all-time in San Angelo, dropping
their last two matches at the Junell Center.

- Angelo State 3, West Texas A&M 1 (10/28/16)
Then #10 Angelo State started fast and outlasted the
rival West Texas A&M Lady Buffs (15-25, 20-25, 25-
22, 22-25) in front of 584 fans at the Junell Center.
The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Cori Haley
who tied a career high with 18 kills, Selena Batiste
dished out a team high 44 assists on the night with
16 digs for a double-double while Lauren Britten led
the way defensively with 29 digs.

2017 LADY BUFF VOLLEYBALL GAME NOTES
HOME DOMINANCE
West Texas A&M is fortunate to have one of the
best home environments in all of NCAA Volleyball,
in any division. The WTAMU Fieldhouse is more
affectionately known as “The Box,” is home to
19 Lone Star Conference Championships, 13 Re-
gional Titles and three NCAA Division II National
Championships. “The Box” boats one of the best
home winning records in the NCAA on any level
of competition. The Lady Buffs are 460-73 at
The Box since the 1980 season for an incredible
winning percentage of 86.3%.
WT HEAD COACH JASON SKOCH
WT head coach Jason Skoch, a four-time LSC
Coach of the Year, is now in his ninth season at
the helm of the Lady Buffs, carrying an overall
career record of 378-84 (.817, 12th year) including
a 242-65 (.787) mark in Canyon. Skoch has led
the Lady Buffs to seven appearances in the NCAA
Postseason with three South Central Regional
Titles and a National Runner-Up finish in 2009.

YOUTH MOVEMENT
The Lady Buffs have played in 41 sets during
12 matches so far during the 2017 season. True
freshman Chandler Vogel has started all 12 matches
at libero while four other freshman have made
appearances in the starting lineup so far this season
for the Lady Buffs.
THE LONE STAR CONFERENCE
Entering the week, LSC volleyball teams were 55-47
overall this season. The squads are 15-16 combined
versus Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams,
and 6-5 against the Heartland Conference, which are
the other leagues in the NCAA South Central Region.
AVCA DIVISION II TOP-25 POLL (SEPT. 18)
Southwest Minnesota State picked up 47 of the
possible 48 first place votes in this week’s American
Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II
Top-25 Poll announced on Monday afternoon by the
association’s offices.
The Mustangs sit atop of the poll with 1,199 total
points followed by Concordia-St. Paul (1 first place,
1,153), Lewis (1,086), Palm Beach Atlantic (1.038),
Nebraska-Kearney (991), Minnesota Duluth (908),
Ferris State (871), Cal Baptist (827), Winona State
(695) and Central Oklahoma (656) to round out the
top ten. The South Central Region was represented
by Angelo State (11th), Regis (14th), Tarleton State
(17th), Colorado School of Mines (23rd) and Texas
A&M-Commerce (RV).

87CONSECUTIVE LSC VICTORIES - The Lady Buffs
own the NCAA Division II record for consecutive wins against
conference opponents, WT claimed 87 straight wins against the
Lone Star Conference between September 8, 2006 and September 13, 2011.
During that five-year span, the Lady Buffs claimed five Lone Star Conference
Championships and made three appearances in the NCAA Elite Eight with a
National Runner-Up finish in 2009.
26ALL-AMERICANS - The Lady Buffs have produced an im-
pressive number of 26 All-Americans in program history including
a pair of DII National Players of the Year: Cristina Pereira (1991)
and Sarah Butler-Carthel (1997,1999).
19LSC CHAMPIONSHIPS - To say that the Lady Buffs
have dominated the Lone Star Conference over the past three
decades would be an understatement. The Lady Buffs own a
278-48 overall record in the LSC, winning an staggering 86 percent of their
matches.
13REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - The Lady Buffs
have claimed 13 South Central Regional Titles on their way to the
Division II Elite Eight during their 25 all-time appearances in the
NCAA Postseason.
1,034VICTORIES SINCE 1980 - The Lady Buffs
have dominated Division II Volleyball dating back to the
1980 season. Since that time, the Lady Buffs are 1,034-
382-2 which is a winning percentage of over 72 percent.

Lady Buffs have one of the most storied programs in all of NCAA
Division II. Since 1988, WT has made an incredible 25 appearanc-

3NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - Winning a National
Championship in any level of competition is an impressive feat, the
Lady Buffs have claimed the highest prize in all of NCAA Division II
Volleyball three times in the program’s history in 1990, 1991 and 1997.

Entering his ninth season at West Texas A&M in 2017, head coach
Jason Skoch looks to build upon the great success of his first eight
years as the Lady Buffs’ leader.
The 2014 campaign was another dominating run thru the Lone Star
Conference for the Lady Buffs as they went a perfect 16-0 in league
play to claim their 19th LSC Championship while registering a perfect
league record for the 16th time since the 1986 season. The Lady Buffs
participated in their 10th straight and 25th overall apearance in the NCAA Postseason. Skoch was
named the LSC Coach of the Year for the second straight season and his fourth overall award
since joining the league prior to the 2009 season.
2013 saw the Lady Buffs continue their dominance of the Lone Star Conference as the team
went a perfect 16-0 in league play to claim the program’s 18th LSC Title. WT hosted the South
Central Regional Tournament at “The Box” as they claimed the program’s 13th Regional Title, the Lady Buffs advanced to
the National Semifinal match before falling to BYU-Hawaii in a five-set thriller. Skoch was named the American Volleyball
Coaches Association (AVCA) South Central Region Coach of the Year as well as the LSC Coach of the Year for his efforts.
The 2012 season saw the Lady Buffs claim the LSC Tournament Title after a thrilling five set win over Angelo State in San
Angelo, Texas followed by WT taking the South Central Regional Championship to make the program’s 12th appearance in
the NCAA Elite Eight held in Pensacola, Florida. WT finished the season with an overall record of 33-5.
In 2011, the Lady Buffs went 34-3 including a 19-1 mark in the LSC for their sixth consecutive and 17th overall LSC
Championship. WT made its seventh consecutive trip to the NCAA postseason, Skoch picked up his second consecutive LSC
Coach of the Year honor. The Lady Buffs put their mark in the NCAA Record Books in 2011, recording the longest conference
win streak in Division II history of 87 matches from Sept. 8, 2006 – Sept. 17, 2011.
In 2010, the Lady Buffs finished the season with a 27-9 overall record and a flawless 14-0 mark in the LSC. The team won
its fifth consecutive LSC Championship and 16th overall. WT reached the NCAA Postseason for a sixth consecutive season
before Emporia State in the opening round of the South Central Regional Tournament. Skoch was named the LSC Coach of
the Year.
In his first season with the team in 2009, Skoch (rhymes with ‘coach’) led the ultra-successful Lady Buffs to fourth-
consecutive and 15th all-time Lone Star Conference title, 20th NCAA Regional tournament appearance and 11th NCAA
Regional title, and 11th NCAA Elite Eight appearance. The team experienced their fourth National Championship match
appearance in Lady Buff history and finished second behind three-time national champions, Concordia-St. Paul, finishing the
season with a 39-4 record.
Skoch currently boasts an incredible career win-loss record of 370-81 (.820) in his 12 years as a head coach, including a
234-61 (.793) mark in his eight seasons at the helm of the Lady Buffs. Before coming to Canyon, Skoch served as head coach
at Truman State. While with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association-member, he guided the Bulldogs to four-
consecutive top-10 rankings in the AVCA final poll.
While at Truman State, he compiled a 137-22 record (.861), made five consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament,
developed 11 All-America student-athletes as well as two MIAA Most Valuable Players. The Bulldogs
were MIAA regular-season and tournament champions in both 2006 and 2007, and spent a portion
of the 2005 campaign ranked number-one in the national polls. Additionally, the Bulldogs have
been ranked in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Poll every week during his tenure as head coach.
While still at Truman, Skoch recruited the 2009 AVCA National Freshman of the Year, Megan
Sharpe.
In 2007, Skoch’s squad set season records in kills, hitting attempts, assists, digs and blocks
en route to a 36-6 overall record, an MIAA tournament title, a No. 1 seed in the South Central
Regional, and a trip to the National Sweet 16. The 36 wins were the second-most in
program history, as the team won the MIAA East division for the second-straight season.
Truman went 13-4 in 2007 against teams ranked in the top-25, including a 6-3 mark against teams in the top-10 at the time of the match. The
Bulldogs went 5-3 in matches that went five-games and were swept just once - at the hands of eventual national champion Concordia-St. Paul in the
first weekend of the season.
Skoch has demonstrated success from the outset of his Truman tenure, as in his first season at the helm, Truman finished second in MIAA play
and won the MIAA postseason tournament. After opening the season ranked second in the preseason national poll, the squad jumped up to No. 1
one week later for the first time in school history. They held the top spot for six weeks in 2005. He capped off his first season at the institution with
a South Central regional title before falling in the Elite Eight against host and national-No. 1 Nebraska-Kearney.
The Bulldogs rolled through the MIAA in 2006, going undefeated and once again capturing the MIAA tournament championship. The season
was culminated with Skoch being named MIAA Coach of the Year. The squad spent five more weeks atop the national poll late in the season, and,
after being recognized as the MIAA Coach of the Year for the first time, Skoch’s squad was again selected to host the South Central Regional.
Skoch came to Truman after spending one season as an assistant coach at Mississippi State University. He was part of a first-year coaching staff
which led Mississippi State to an improvement of 11 wins overall and tied a school record for the most wins in Southeastern Conference (SEC) play.
Skoch also had previous NCAA Division II experience as he was an assistant coach at Central Oklahoma in 2003. Other coaching experience
for Skoch includes spending one season as head coach with the Stillwater Volleyball Club and the Kaeppa Oklahoma Charge Volleyball Club. He
is a former player with club teams at Penn State University, the University of Memphis and Oklahoma State University.
Skoch earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State in 1998, with a major in statistics and a minor in mathematics. He earned a
Master of Science in Statistics from Penn State in 2001.
Skoch and his wife, Karen, reside in Canyon with their children: Jay, Kyle, Kade and Emmie.
