Brief Introduction:
 Nuclear energy: a clean and safe in a long term effects,
promote the economic development.
 Malaysia in 2020 will face a shortage of natural resources,

especially gas
 In 2008: economic crisis as a result of increasing oil price
 Malaysia now is also a net importer of oil
 As a result, Nuclear power plant will be constructed in

2020 as it benefits on economic, environment, and society.
Economic:
1. Employment:
Average 2 400 staffs for construction purpose
A long-term staff account for 400-800

Requirement skills: Engineering, chemist, IT

specialist, Administrative, etc.
Economic:
2. Effective and Efficiency
Uranium: easily transferable and affordable
Cost of power generated from nuclear power plant.

World Nuclear Association found: on average the
electricity price by nuclear is 2.40c/kWh, 3.27cents for
electricity generated by coal, and 3.40 cents by gas.
Less sensitive in price fluctuation; in which only 0.2%
of overall production cost is due to the cost of
Uranium.
Economic
 Compared with coal, 100MW power plant requires

2,ooo,ooo metric tons of coal, but only 30 metric tons
of Uranium.
Beside, it also stocks 100 tons of fuel to run for 3 years.
Not subject to the climate change or weather
fluctuation
 Other forms of alternative power also not compatible
with Malaysia peninsular, including solar and wind
energy.
Environment
1. Air Pollution Standard:
 A clean and safe energy which was called the most
eco-efficient as it have little negative impact on
environment.
 Emit the smoke-like gas: not dangerous or harmful;
especially, not release the harmful chemical element
such as NO, SO, “emission-free energy source.”
 Example is the United State can prevent 681.99 million

metric tons of CO2 in 2005
Environment
2. Habitat for spices and human
 the areas around the plant and its cooling ponds are
clean and safe
Water discharged from Nuclear plants is no contact
with radioactive, contains no harmful pollutant, meet
with temperature standard.
 its cooling ponds enables spices to live
 Even nuclear plant requires quite a lot lands, but if
compared to that of solar and wind power, it is
relatively small: 1000MW plan, 35 000 acres for solar,
at least 150 000 acres for wind power; whereas, only
500 acres for 1900MW power plant.
Environment
3. Waste
 Advantage of small in quantity
Can buried deep in the ground
3.EFFECTS ON THE PEOPLE
Citizens will get more Informed on the
uses of Nuclear Energy
The
Government
THE BENEFITS OF NUCLEAR POWER
PLANT ON SOCIETY
1. Lower Cost of Electricity
 Low Cost of Raw Materials
Uranium
One uranium fuel pellet-the size of the tip of your little finger-is
the equivalent of 17,000 cubic feet of natural gas, 1,780 pounds
of coal, or 149 gallons of oil
2. Lower the Cost of Electricity
 Produce A Lot Of Energy
 Stable Price
-Uranium is used for long period
-Power Plants can run about 540 days before they
are shut down for refueling
3. Motivation to people
 Modern and High-Technology
 Malaysia is not weak
 People work harder
 Feel more loyalty to their Nation
