Cingular Commercial Analysis
The late 90s and early 2000s are thought to be an iconic time – by a young millennial like myself. It is a decade we think we can remember and a
decade we think we can relate to, but in all honesty I cannot remember a single thing. So when my mom told me about a time when a Cingular
commercial came on and my eyes started welling up with tears, I just could not believe it. How could commercial impact a four–year–old who could
barely speak yet? A year and a half ago I accepted my acceptance into the Red McCombs business school believing that the name, network, and
professors would be enough to keep me interested for the rest of my duration at the University of Texas. But I quickly realized it was not major for
me. This realization left me

Textual Analysis Of A Commercial Essay
The commercial starts off with a blind beggar with a sign asking for money, trying to appeal to someone's sense of pity with a sign pointing that out,
and him not receiving much money, because of what we can only assume to be the general rule of thumb that states that people in commercials only
show kindness in the latter half of the commercial. A young man comes up, writing something that remains unseen to the audience on the unused side
of the board, which seems to catch people's attention more and thus leads to him receiving more money. When the young man comes again, stopping
for just enough time for the blind beggar to recognize him merely by his pants and shoes, he asks what he wrote on his sign, and the man responds
with a general brushing aside of the question, replying with "I just rephrased your sign a bit.", and by then the camera pans on to the sign, which says
"The day is so lovely, shame I can't see it."
There's not a lot to summarize here admittedly, and I think that sort of lends to the beauty of the commercial; the simplicity of the plot, the
almost–entirely monotone setting of the entire thing, the fact that the only...show more content...
Now, obviously, it should be said that the guy's actions should be applauded for rewriting the guy's sign to help others sympathize with him more, but
it should also be brought into question why people don't help out in the first place. Commercials like these indirectly highlight the fact that more often
than not, kindhearted actions should be taken notice of more, or at least be better appreciated, both despite and due to the fact that not a lot of people
really go out of their way to spare a pittance to someone who seems desperately in need, an ethical problem that deserves to be taken notice of more,
and is certainly something bigger than what a short film can tackle in most

Marketing Analysis : Old Spice Commercial Essay
Abstract
This paper will analyze the claims made by Old Spice in a commercial selling their line of body washes for men. It will break down each claim and
the support behind those claims as well as the warrants and assumptions tied to both. It will consider each of Aristotle's three appeals individually and
consider Old Spices intentions and use of each in the advertisement in question. Lastly, it will observe for potential logical fallacies with consideration
to the implications this ad has towards consumerism.
Old Spice Commercial Analysis
Introduction
"Advertising is the art of arresting the human intelligence just long enough to get money from it." (Shah, 2012) The goal of advertising is to capture
their target audience's attention and to create something memorable to sell their product. One advertisement campaign that has managed to do this
quite well is Old Spice a men's body wash brand that is among the top competitors. Successful advertisement is what creates a brand, even if you have
a great product without good advertisement a product cannot be successful. In the advertisement campaign for Old Spice Men's body wash the
advertiser uses sexual appeal geared toward the female demographic, and the use of false cause to play on men's insecurities of to convince viewers to
buy their product.

Comparison of Two Commercials Essay
Outline
Thesis statement: When compared side–by–side, there are differences in the two. Some of these include that the Lexus ad uses predominantly the
logos, or logical, appeal whereas the second uses pathos, the emotional appeal, the target audiences for both commercials, and the effectiveness of
each. 1. Pathos or logos? 1. VW uses more pathos than Lexus. 1. Humor is effective tactic in advertising. 2. By using humor, advertisers make their
product more memorable. 2. Lexus uses more Logos than VW. II. Target audiences. 1. VW targets younger viewers but could be effective on almost
anyone. 2. Lexus targets a more mature, serious audience. III. Effectiveness. 1. VW is more effective because...show more content...
In conclusion, the commercials by Lexus and Volkswagenboth make the viewer consider their product. To do this, they use different methods of
advertising. Also, both companies target different audiences. When all is said and done, they have varying degrees of success in doing so. Advertising
is a fundamental force in today's society, and because of this, companies must provide the most effective commercials with presentation of as many
logical appeals as possible.

Final Draft: Volkswagen vs. Lexus
Over the last few decades, American culture has been forever changed by the huge amount of advertisement the people are subjected to. Advertising
has become such an integral part of society, many people will choose whether or not they want to buy a product based only on their familiarity with it
rather than the product's price or effectiveness. Do to that fact, companies must provide the very best and most convincing advertisements as possible.
Those companies have, in fact, done

Analysis of Commercial Advertisement
Television commercials are television programming produced by any organisation to provide message in the market about their product or services. It
is one of the most popular methods to attract customer and provide them information about their products or services.
Here we would be analysing TV commercial to understand it and its effects and whether it is proving for what it are made.
We have heard a very common slogan named as "RedBulls Gives You Wings". It is the very popular television advertisement of RedBulls energy drink
with many advertisement prints and different characters. We have seen the advertisement in which a bird pisses on a man and after that man took out a

Market share and strategy – RedBull had dominated the market of energy drinks all over the world. Its main mission is to provide an energy drink

college students or working people to maintain their energy and keep doing their work with full enthusiastic way.The Red Bull brand had created a
great impact on the mind of its customers by its product results and pricing strategies which make it a larger energy drink on the market.("The Top 15

competitors energy drink. RedBull had produced many advertisementsas TV commercials and also increases their sales with the help of magazines,
internet and billboard advertising. Advertisements in magazines are limited because there are only few magazines which suits to publish RedBull
advertisements in them. Internet advertising will gain the response of the particular audience as it truly depends on people using online services.
Billboard advertising is also a very good method for attracting customers, but it should be placed at the places

Budweiser Clydesdale's Commercial Analysis
Brotherhood Budweiser Clydesdales commercials are always one of the most recognized commercials during a super Bowl. They have been
aired every year starting on Super Bowl XX in 1986, because of this, many consider Budweiser ads as part of Super Bowl tradition. From the
many, I chose the one aired on Super Bowl XLVII (2013), titled "Brotherhood". Not only was this one of the top Budweiser commercial but it
broke record over other commercials as one of the most shared Super Bowl Ad. "Brotherhood" is about a farmer who raises a horse (Clydesdale)
from its birth, creating a beautiful relationship with it as it grew up. Although he has cared for his horse since birth, he sells it to Budweiser's
Clydesdale. Three years later, the farmer was reading

Example Of A Commercial Essay
What makes the commercial romantic is by showing a couple go through all of their years together kissing and showing love for each other. They
represent love in the best way they go from teenage kids to grey haired grandparents loving one another. This is a good representation of love because
it shows them loving each other for years no matter how old they both are. What makes the picture romantic is the two people kissing and the words
above them "back home for keeps." You can see in the picture ad that the man in a military uniform. They represent howlove can wait for someone

are often left out of the popular picture of romance. These two groups of couples are often seen as controversial. Most of the couples shown on
billboards, commercials and magazines are normally caucasian heterosexual couples. Cheerios came out with a commercial that had a biracial couple
and they had a child together. A lot of people saw this commercial as very controversial and it is not normally seen on ads for a

Commercial Analysis: Life Alert
While replaying the Life Alert commercial I had a 76 year old African American male walk by my computer and ask what I was watching. He
happens to be a retired police officer who provides security for the building where I work and is also a theology professor at a local community
college whom I've known for over six years. I explained to him the idea behind the assignment and I received an expected reaction. Being a
working senior citizen who works two jobs and is still very active he found not only the Life Alert portrayal comical but he also referenced other
commercials targeting older adults as well. He joked and laughed about the way older adults including him are stereotyped and said in his case and
many others those portrayals are far

Essay on Commercials and Advertising
Analyze This
Did you ever sit and analyze the kinds of commercials that are played on the television? At designated times, different people are targeted. Or how
about the ways the grocery stores are set up with the candy, soda, and magazines near the check out area. Items in a store are put in certain places for
a reason. These are all clever selling techniques that manufacturers come up with to get people to buy their products.
Around 2:30 until about 5:00, the kids come home from school, and the cartoons and other kids shows are on. So why not show commercials for the
latest Barbie doll or hot wheels playset....show more content...
Now you get hungry so why make dinner when it can be done for you?
Taking a child to the grocery store can be the absolute pits. You're going down aisle five (the cereal aisle) and your four year old sees a box of
frosted flakes with some new pokemon toy. He starts throwing a fit, not because he wants the cereal, but because of the cool toy inside. Of course
you get suckered into buying it so your child doesn't scream anymore. Or you go into the supermarket just for milk. Well the milk is all the way in
the back of the store. On your way back, you pass by some cookies, bread and yogurt, and they're all on sale. Of course you can't resist purchasing
them. It's a great deal. One item always turns into five.
Scenario number three is you're at the mall shopping in World Foot Locker for some new basketball shoes. Near the pair of sneakers you like is aposter
of Michael Jordan wearing the same pair you were just looking at. You think to yourself, "Michael Jordan is wearing them, he's famous and a great
basketball player. If I wear them, I'll be great too." Another way to sucker you into the sale. Or you're driving home from work around rush hour
/dinner time, and what's on the billboard, but an advertisement for Mc Donald's with a juicy looking hamburger. And it's only a mile down the road.

Sprite Commercial Analysis
Cold Like a Sprite Soda Introducing the newest Sprite commercial of 2017. LeBron James featuring Lil Yatchy and a few other people in a Super

being introduced in 1961, it still holds the world's leading lemon lime flavored soft drink. LeBron James and the character he is the audience wouldn't

Super Bowl Commercial Analysis
Question of the weeks, peer reviews, and analyzing commercials: All these may seem like parts of the syllabus in W131 but it ended up being more
than that. The day to day tasks in the class have made me a better writer and thinker. College is the highest form of education and has high standards
for the work done for them. This class has taught me skills that can take my glob of half ideas on a page into essays that share the message I'm trying
to tell people.
During project one, we were asked to discuss our feelings towards writing. I felt like I was doomed from the beginning. I slowly read the instructions
multiple times to myself and out loud hoping that one word would bring a memory to the surface about my feelings towards writing. However,...show

Just like the project before I wasn't consciously aware of all the types of writing we have. When asked to analyze a commercial I was perplexed.
"We are in a writing class, not a film class. Why are we doing this" I asked myself. Then I thought about commercials and how much money people put
into them. This wasn't just something they filmed freestyle. There were writers that planned every single line and placement. I though back to my
communications class, we spent weeks talking about the rule of three, placement and power of color. All these were nonverbal methods of
communication and have to be though out in order to be successful. I looked deeper into why companies spend money on commercial and how they
used writing tools in their script that transferred to the commercial itself.
We were assigned the task of taking an issue on a social issue as project 3. I was ecstatic because I finally got to use my writing skills to point out
an issue that was close to my heart. I chose factory farming because that was the main reason I chose to stay vegetarian for so long. I used the skills
we learned to prewrite to make sure that my essay had an overall theme. During this project the importance of citations was stressed since we were
using quotes and facts. I used to use a lot of quotes or none at all but after reading in our textbook about the 10% ratio of quotes, I've learned to

Commercial Analysis: The Vietnam War
The commercial begins with a charade of cars heading to a hotel in a Middle Eastern country. A commander steps down from the vehicle and walks
inside the hotel surrounded with body guards holding a brief case handcuffed to his wrist. At the same time a visual of helicopters are flying in the
air on top of a field, two soldiers inside the helicopters look at themselves as if they are in extreme pressure, scared and ready for war. A military
war tank is seen driving around the city where you can witness abandoned, destroyed buildings by the war. A figure of a man hidden in the building
hides as the tank passes by. Then, China is seen on the screen with thousands of uniformed soldiers and the president and the first lady of China are

extreme pressure. The woman are strong in its own way, but show the kindness, the love, and the influence on a powerful man. The logo is only
showed at the end with the AXE spray being sprayed on the man. In my opinion the AXE deodorant spray makes them feel powerful, controlled under
extreme situations. A man that is willing to show his love for those he cares for even if they seem dangerous and intimidating. It brings in them a true
sense or power, responsibility and self–control. I really liked this commercial. Thumbs

Chevy Commercial Analysis
This video conveys a deeper meaning for the automobile brand Chevrolet. This commercial portrays a brand of automobile that is more than just a
material possession. The message states that a Chevrolet truck is part of the family, creates unforgettable memories, and lasts for many years. This

man and his family are worried that they are going to lose a part of their family if the truck cannot be repaired. The repairman makes a statement to the
man about getting a new truck and when the man discovers an old photo in the glovebox he realizes that the truck is worth more than any amount of

Hyundai Commercial Analysis Essay
The Hyundai commercial caught my attention due to its interesting plot. It seems to be a typical car advertisement until you look at it with deeper
thought. The situation reveals something totally opposite of what they actually meant to do. Hyundai may have known exactly what they were doing,
putting an advertisement out there that would not be easily forgotten. However the impact of this message can be an extremely negative image for
Hyundai. The image they end up portraying can cause extremely negative publicity or send people the wrong message. Portraying the message that
committing suicide is both acceptable and can be extremely easy.

This is saying that suicide is okay, and they should not be sending this out. Suicide is already a rising issue in our society and we don't need to
make it socially acceptable. It seems to glamorize the act of committing suicide instead of showing the true effects of suicide. Also, true side
effects of suicide effects more than just the people killing themselves, it travels over into the lives of friends and family. People who are entirely
innocent begin to blame themselves for the act of one person who chose they didn't want to live any more. It shows us that it is actually a peaceful
way for one to kill themselves. Nevertheless, the man never struggles or experiences any pain that we can see. Hyundai shows us a nice house and a
shiny new car no apparent signs of him having a reason to commit suicide. This message shows people that committing suicide is something you can
do, as if it's acceptable. Suicide is not something that should be considered acceptable in any way. It affects more people than just the one committing
the act. This advertisement also opens up new options for people who couldn't precisely chose how they wanted to kill themselves; perhaps the only
thing keeping them back was the fact they were scared it would hurt and now they have an advertisement that makes it look easy and painless.

T-Mobile 1 Commercial Analysis
In the T–Mobile 1 commercial it starts out with a middle aged man and Kristen Schaal. The commercial was inspired off of the movie 50 Shades of
Grey or the movie 50 Shades Darker, which was made after the initial movie, 50 Shades of Grey. The two individuals enter the "playroom" where
numerous objects are seen hung all over the room. Schaal was being blindfolded as she walked into the room. As the man starts to unravel the blindfold
Schaal gasps in such astonishment of the room. Later on the man starts stating the specific elements Verizon has to offer. The more data the mobile
user uses, the more punishments they will receive. Schaal was thrilled acknowledging this information. The man later whips his whip and describes if

It is logical for people wanting to save money on their phone bill. If the mobile user goes over the limited amount then the cost will start to
accumulate. "Every time you go over your data limit you get punished." Nobody would want to pay outrageous rate and fees. The gasps, excitement,
and the thrills is what created the pathos. Schaal was astonished by all the facts he was saying because she was "into that type of pain." T–Mobile 1
argues that they are a more reliable company with less "punishing" fees thus creating ethos. Symbolism is seen in this also. The red "Verizon" phone
screen seen dangling from the stand represents data being overly used causing the phone bill to inflate. The whip also acts as a form of symbolism
representing the punishment. Another literary term that was involved during this commercial is parody. In general the T–Mobile 1 commercial
imitates the movie 50 Shades of Grey. Irony could also be included during this commercial because the mobile plan can sometimes cause people to be
indecisive on whether they want to feel the "pain" or not. In the commercial it said "Wireless pain is fine if you're into that sort of

Unit 9 Commercial Analysis Essay
Commercial Analysis Critical Thinking Unit 9 The first commercial I chose is from Sweden, and aimed at a Swedish audience, however aside
from statistics, the information given to us could be presented anywhere in the world. The commercial begins showing an obviously European
hillside with grazing sheep and then cuts to a quaint pub at twilight, soft light from the big windows glowing orange against the blue tint of the
nighttime scene, a slow piano melody is heard in the background. The narrator's voice starts speaking, in a thick cockney accent saying" For six
generations, the house of Taman has created an exceptionally smooth experience" the scene cuts to the inside of this cozy pub. All the patrons are

background. The camera zooms in to a rock in the rapids with the water sloshing about it and the scene changes to a glass being filled with Taman
Whiskey. The golden brown liquid gently sloshes around in a circular motion, mirroring the rapids and rocks seen before. The scene is again the pub
with people sitting in comfortable leather chairs and socializing. The camera lingers on a bottle of Taman beside a full glass, piano playing in the
background, the fireplace in the distance, yet visible in the frame. The narrator again: "Taman, smoothness in a bottle". The slogan "Smoothness in a
bottle" appear on the screen in white letters. By this point, all the classic tropes of the liquor advertising industry have been shown, the viewer is lulled
by the music and the narrator's slow gentle delivery, and it appears the commercial is at an

your dreams. For example, Jimmy Kimmel says, "If you want to play the clarinet, maybe don't dress like this, but play the clarinet." In the picture,
Jimmy was in his band uniform from high school holding a clarinet. Tina Fey started making fun of a red rose that she was holding in her picture. The

Bruce Braley Commercial Analysis Essay
The claim in the commercial for Bruce Braley is that Bruce Braley wants to help the people of Iowa. Throughout the commercial Braley uses a
combination of ethos, logos, and pathos to get people to vote for him. Coupled with the use of the video, audio, and text track he provides a
commercial that provokes the audience to think of Braley as the guy to help Iowa. The first track we hear being used is the audio track. To start off
they say his father died and it was the most difficult time in his life. Than they go on to talk about it was Bruce's mom, Marcia, that helped get him
back on his feet and convinced him to follow his dream. Although this does represent Braley's perseverance through tough times it also implies

The word "Braley" whether used in a name or elsewhere is constantly present on the screen. He uses his name "Bruce Braley" as well as his website
"brucebrayle.com" as a way to advertise himself. At the time of this commercial being aired many people might not know who he is, so as a way
to become more known he is trying to get his name out there as much as possible. He also puts his mom's name Marcia Braley in the commercial.
This helps build the connection and relatability between Bruce Braley and his mom, Marcia Braley. The reason this connection is helpful is
because it makes him seem more like his mother who, in the commercial, is displayed as a strong kind woman. This connection implies that Bruce
Braley might also have these same traits as he is her own son. Finally at the end of the video we see an outline of the state of Iowa with the name
"Bruce Braley For U.S. Senate". This use of the visual track is not subtle at all. The director purposely did this to make it seem like if Braley got
voted for US Senate he would be all about helping Iowa in Washington, just like how he is helping Iowans right now in the state of

Analysis of a Cingular Commercial from the Early 2000s

  • 1. Cingular Commercial Analysis The late 90s and early 2000s are thought to be an iconic time – by a young millennial like myself. It is a decade we think we can remember and a decade we think we can relate to, but in all honesty I cannot remember a single thing. So when my mom told me about a time when a Cingular commercial came on and my eyes started welling up with tears, I just could not believe it. How could commercial impact a four–year–old who could barely speak yet? A year and a half ago I accepted my acceptance into the Red McCombs business school believing that the name, network, and professors would be enough to keep me interested for the rest of my duration at the University of Texas. But I quickly realized it was not major for me. This realization left me Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Textual Analysis Of A Commercial Essay The commercial starts off with a blind beggar with a sign asking for money, trying to appeal to someone's sense of pity with a sign pointing that out, and him not receiving much money, because of what we can only assume to be the general rule of thumb that states that people in commercials only show kindness in the latter half of the commercial. A young man comes up, writing something that remains unseen to the audience on the unused side of the board, which seems to catch people's attention more and thus leads to him receiving more money. When the young man comes again, stopping for just enough time for the blind beggar to recognize him merely by his pants and shoes, he asks what he wrote on his sign, and the man responds with a general brushing aside of the question, replying with "I just rephrased your sign a bit.", and by then the camera pans on to the sign, which says "The day is so lovely, shame I can't see it." There's not a lot to summarize here admittedly, and I think that sort of lends to the beauty of the commercial; the simplicity of the plot, the almost–entirely monotone setting of the entire thing, the fact that the only...show more content... Now, obviously, it should be said that the guy's actions should be applauded for rewriting the guy's sign to help others sympathize with him more, but it should also be brought into question why people don't help out in the first place. Commercials like these indirectly highlight the fact that more often than not, kindhearted actions should be taken notice of more, or at least be better appreciated, both despite and due to the fact that not a lot of people really go out of their way to spare a pittance to someone who seems desperately in need, an ethical problem that deserves to be taken notice of more, and is certainly something bigger than what a short film can tackle in most Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Marketing Analysis : Old Spice Commercial Essay Abstract This paper will analyze the claims made by Old Spice in a commercial selling their line of body washes for men. It will break down each claim and the support behind those claims as well as the warrants and assumptions tied to both. It will consider each of Aristotle's three appeals individually and consider Old Spices intentions and use of each in the advertisement in question. Lastly, it will observe for potential logical fallacies with consideration to the implications this ad has towards consumerism. Old Spice Commercial Analysis Introduction "Advertising is the art of arresting the human intelligence just long enough to get money from it." (Shah, 2012) The goal of advertising is to capture their target audience's attention and to create something memorable to sell their product. One advertisement campaign that has managed to do this quite well is Old Spice a men's body wash brand that is among the top competitors. Successful advertisement is what creates a brand, even if you have a great product without good advertisement a product cannot be successful. In the advertisement campaign for Old Spice Men's body wash the advertiser uses sexual appeal geared toward the female demographic, and the use of false cause to play on men's insecurities of to convince viewers to buy their product. Toumin Method Claims and Evidence The Advertisement has a clear claim, by using this product you can look, smell, and be just like the actor on your television Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Comparison of Two Commercials Essay Outline Thesis statement: When compared side–by–side, there are differences in the two. Some of these include that the Lexus ad uses predominantly the logos, or logical, appeal whereas the second uses pathos, the emotional appeal, the target audiences for both commercials, and the effectiveness of each. 1. Pathos or logos? 1. VW uses more pathos than Lexus. 1. Humor is effective tactic in advertising. 2. By using humor, advertisers make their product more memorable. 2. Lexus uses more Logos than VW. II. Target audiences. 1. VW targets younger viewers but could be effective on almost anyone. 2. Lexus targets a more mature, serious audience. III. Effectiveness. 1. VW is more effective because...show more content... In conclusion, the commercials by Lexus and Volkswagenboth make the viewer consider their product. To do this, they use different methods of advertising. Also, both companies target different audiences. When all is said and done, they have varying degrees of success in doing so. Advertising is a fundamental force in today's society, and because of this, companies must provide the most effective commercials with presentation of as many logical appeals as possible. Advertising has become such an integral part of society, many people will choose whether or not they want to buy a product based only on their familiarity with it rather than the product's price or effectiveness. • 5. Analysis of Commercial Advertisement Television commercials are television programming produced by any organisation to provide message in the market about their product or services. It is one of the most popular methods to attract customer and provide them information about their products or services. Here we would be analysing TV commercial to understand it and its effects and whether it is proving for what it are made. We have heard a very common slogan named as "RedBulls Gives You Wings". Advertisements in magazines are limited because there are only few magazines which suits to publish RedBull advertisements in them. Internet advertising will gain the response of the particular audience as it truly depends on people using online services. • 6. Budweiser Clydesdale's Commercial Analysis Brotherhood Budweiser Clydesdales commercials are always one of the most recognized commercials during a super Bowl. They have been aired every year starting on Super Bowl XX in 1986, because of this, many consider Budweiser ads as part of Super Bowl tradition. From the many, I chose the one aired on Super Bowl XLVII (2013), titled "Brotherhood". Not only was this one of the top Budweiser commercial but it broke record over other commercials as one of the most shared Super Bowl Ad. "Brotherhood" is about a farmer who raises a horse (Clydesdale) from its birth, creating a beautiful relationship with it as it grew up. Although he has cared for his horse since birth, he sells it to Budweiser's Clydesdale. Three years later, the farmer was reading Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Example Of A Commercial Essay What makes the commercial romantic is by showing a couple go through all of their years together kissing and showing love for each other. They represent love in the best way they go from teenage kids to grey haired grandparents loving one another. This is a good representation of love because it shows them loving each other for years no matter how old they both are. What makes the picture romantic is the two people kissing and the words above them "back home for keeps." You can see in the picture ad that the man in a military uniform. They represent howlove can wait for someone after waiting for them for years as they're gone. The audience of the commercial can be young adults to older adults and anyone inbetween. In examples of romance biracial couples and gay couples are often left out of the popular picture of romance. These two groups of couples are often seen as controversial. Most of the couples shown on billboards, commercials and magazines are normally caucasian heterosexual couples. Cheerios came out with a commercial that had a biracial couple and they had a child together. • 8. Commercial Analysis: Life Alert While replaying the Life Alert commercial I had a 76 year old African American male walk by my computer and ask what I was watching. He happens to be a retired police officer who provides security for the building where I work and is also a theology professor at a local community college whom I've known for over six years. I explained to him the idea behind the assignment and I received an expected reaction. Being a working senior citizen who works two jobs and is still very active he found not only the Life Alert portrayal comical but he also referenced other commercials targeting older adults as well. He joked and laughed about the way older adults including him are stereotyped and said in his case and many others those portrayals are far Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Essay on Commercials and Advertising Analyze This Did you ever sit and analyze the kinds of commercials that are played on the television? At designated times, different people are targeted. Or how about the ways the grocery stores are set up with the candy, soda, and magazines near the check out area. Items in a store are put in certain places for a reason. These are all clever selling techniques that manufacturers come up with to get people to buy their products. Around 2:30 until about 5:00, the kids come home from school, and the cartoons and other kids shows are on. So why not show commercials for the latest Barbie doll or hot wheels playset....show more content... Now you get hungry so why make dinner when it can be done for you? Taking a child to the grocery store can be the absolute pits. You're going down aisle five (the cereal aisle) and your four year old sees a box of frosted flakes with some new pokemon toy. He starts throwing a fit, not because he wants the cereal, but because of the cool toy inside. Of course you get suckered into buying it so your child doesn't scream anymore. Or you go into the supermarket just for milk. Well the milk is all the way in the back of the store. On your way back, you pass by some cookies, bread and yogurt, and they're all on sale. Of course you can't resist purchasing them. It's a great deal. One item always turns into five. Scenario number three is you're at the mall shopping in World Foot Locker for some new basketball shoes. Near the pair of sneakers you like is aposter of Michael Jordan wearing the same pair you were just looking at. You think to yourself, "Michael Jordan is wearing them, he's famous and a great basketball player. If I wear them, I'll be great too." Another way to sucker you into the sale. Or you're driving home from work around rush hour /dinner time, and what's on the billboard, but an advertisement for Mc Donald's with a juicy looking hamburger. And it's only a mile down the road. • 10. Sprite Commercial Analysis Cold Like a Sprite Soda Introducing the newest Sprite commercial of 2017. LeBron James featuring Lil Yatchy and a few other people in a Super Bowl commercial. LeBron James, the starting small ford for the Cleveland Cavaliers, was explaining to the audience why he wouldn't tell you not to drink Sprite. That he would ask you did you want to try it. Television advertisements are a vital part inmarketing of just about any product. With Sprite being introduced in 1961, it still holds the world's leading lemon lime flavored soft drink. LeBron James and the character he is the audience wouldn't drink sprite simply because he wouldn't. Why? Because he's an all–time NBA all–star. But then at the end of the commercial after seeing everybody else drinking sprite LeBron admits that he would ask you did you want to try Sprite. Sprite effectively persuades their viewers that they have the better tasting lemon lime soft drink....show more content... Most people know who LeBron James is, and some may not. • 11. Super Bowl Commercial Analysis Question of the weeks, peer reviews, and analyzing commercials: All these may seem like parts of the syllabus in W131 but it ended up being more than that. The day to day tasks in the class have made me a better writer and thinker. College is the highest form of education and has high standards for the work done for them. This class has taught me skills that can take my glob of half ideas on a page into essays that share the message I'm trying to tell people. During project one, we were asked to discuss our feelings towards writing. I felt like I was doomed from the beginning. I slowly read the instructions multiple times to myself and out loud hoping that one word would bring a memory to the surface about my feelings towards writing. However,...show more content... Just like the project before I wasn't consciously aware of all the types of writing we have. When asked to analyze a commercial I was perplexed. "We are in a writing class, not a film class. Why are we doing this" I asked myself. Then I thought about commercials and how much money people put into them. This wasn't just something they filmed freestyle. There were writers that planned every single line and placement. I though back to my communications class, we spent weeks talking about the rule of three, placement and power of color. All these were nonverbal methods of communication and have to be though out in order to be successful. I looked deeper into why companies spend money on commercial and how they used writing tools in their script that transferred to the commercial itself. We were assigned the task of taking an issue on a social issue as project 3. I was ecstatic because I finally got to use my writing skills to point out an issue that was close to my heart. I chose factory farming because that was the main reason I chose to stay vegetarian for so long. I used the skills we learned to prewrite to make sure that my essay had an overall theme. During this project the importance of citations was stressed since we were using quotes and facts. I used to use a lot of quotes or none at all but after reading in our textbook about the 10% ratio of quotes, I've learned to monitor my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Commercial Analysis: The Vietnam War The commercial begins with a charade of cars heading to a hotel in a Middle Eastern country. A commander steps down from the vehicle and walks inside the hotel surrounded with body guards holding a brief case handcuffed to his wrist. At the same time a visual of helicopters are flying in the air on top of a field, two soldiers inside the helicopters look at themselves as if they are in extreme pressure, scared and ready for war. A military war tank is seen driving around the city where you can witness abandoned, destroyed buildings by the war. A figure of a man hidden in the building hides as the tank passes by. Then, China is seen on the screen with thousands of uniformed soldiers and the president and the first lady of China are standing...show more content... It is the most thrilling, emotional, clearly visualized TV commercial I have seen. It illustrates the rhetorical triangle elements such as pathos, ethos and logo. Ethos is dominant in this commercial with the characters. With the male characters, It portraits power, authority, discipline, working under extreme pressure. The woman are strong in its own way, but show the kindness, the love, and the influence on a powerful man. The logo is only showed at the end with the AXE spray being sprayed on the man. In my opinion the AXE deodorant spray makes them feel powerful, controlled under extreme situations. A man that is willing to show his love for those he cares for even if they seem dangerous and intimidating. It brings in them a true sense or power, responsibility and self–control. I really liked this commercial. Thumbs Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Chevy Commercial Analysis This video conveys a deeper meaning for the automobile brand Chevrolet. This commercial portrays a brand of automobile that is more than just a material possession. The message states that a Chevrolet truck is part of the family, creates unforgettable memories, and lasts for many years. This message conveys that sentimental value and memories are worth more than any amount of money that is needed to repair the truck. The emotional man and his family are worried that they are going to lose a part of their family if the truck cannot be repaired. The repairman makes a statement to the man about getting a new truck and when the man discovers an old photo in the glovebox he realizes that the truck is worth more than any amount of money. • 14. Hyundai Commercial Analysis Essay The Hyundai commercial caught my attention due to its interesting plot. It seems to be a typical car advertisement until you look at it with deeper thought. The situation reveals something totally opposite of what they actually meant to do. Hyundai may have known exactly what they were doing, putting an advertisement out there that would not be easily forgotten. However the impact of this message can be an extremely negative image for Hyundai. The image they end up portraying can cause extremely negative publicity or send people the wrong message. Portraying the message that committing suicide is both acceptable and can be extremely easy. The advertisement I've picked ended up being the Hyundai commercial attempting to sell their new air...show more content... This is saying that suicide is okay, and they should not be sending this out. Suicide is already a rising issue in our society and we don't need to make it socially acceptable. It seems to glamorize the act of committing suicide instead of showing the true effects of suicide. Also, true side effects of suicide effects more than just the people killing themselves, it travels over into the lives of friends and family. People who are entirely innocent begin to blame themselves for the act of one person who chose they didn't want to live any more. It shows us that it is actually a peaceful way for one to kill themselves. Nevertheless, the man never struggles or experiences any pain that we can see. Hyundai shows us a nice house and a shiny new car no apparent signs of him having a reason to commit suicide. This message shows people that committing suicide is something you can do, as if it's acceptable. Suicide is not something that should be considered acceptable in any way. It affects more people than just the one committing the act. This advertisement also opens up new options for people who couldn't precisely chose how they wanted to kill themselves; perhaps the only thing keeping them back was the fact they were scared it would hurt and now they have an advertisement that makes it look easy and painless. • 16. T-Mobile 1 Commercial Analysis In the T–Mobile 1 commercial it starts out with a middle aged man and Kristen Schaal. The commercial was inspired off of the movie 50 Shades of Grey or the movie 50 Shades Darker, which was made after the initial movie, 50 Shades of Grey. The two individuals enter the "playroom" where numerous objects are seen hung all over the room. Schaal was being blindfolded as she walked into the room. As the man starts to unravel the blindfold Schaal gasps in such astonishment of the room. Later on the man starts stating the specific elements Verizon has to offer. The more data the mobile user uses, the more punishments they will receive. Schaal was thrilled acknowledging this information. The man later whips his whip and describes if mobile users are into things...show more content... It is logical for people wanting to save money on their phone bill. If the mobile user goes over the limited amount then the cost will start to accumulate. "Every time you go over your data limit you get punished." Nobody would want to pay outrageous rate and fees. The gasps, excitement, and the thrills is what created the pathos. Schaal was astonished by all the facts he was saying because she was "into that type of pain." T–Mobile 1 argues that they are a more reliable company with less "punishing" fees thus creating ethos. Symbolism is seen in this also. The red "Verizon" phone screen seen dangling from the stand represents data being overly used causing the phone bill to inflate. The whip also acts as a form of symbolism representing the punishment. Another literary term that was involved during this commercial is parody. In general the T–Mobile 1 commercial imitates the movie 50 Shades of Grey. Irony could also be included during this commercial because the mobile plan can sometimes cause people to be indecisive on whether they want to feel the "pain" or not. In the commercial it said "Wireless pain is fine if you're into that sort of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Unit 9 Commercial Analysis Essay Commercial Analysis Critical Thinking Unit 9 The first commercial I chose is from Sweden, and aimed at a Swedish audience, however aside from statistics, the information given to us could be presented anywhere in the world. The commercial begins showing an obviously European hillside with grazing sheep and then cuts to a quaint pub at twilight, soft light from the big windows glowing orange against the blue tint of the nighttime scene, a slow piano melody is heard in the background. The narrator's voice starts speaking, in a thick cockney accent saying" For six generations, the house of Taman has created an exceptionally smooth experience" the scene cuts to the inside of this cozy pub. All the patrons are dressed in sweaters with scarfs and there is a civil, almost idyllic look to everyone. There is a fire in the fireplace, everyone is smiling and everyone is holding a drink and saying hi to...show more content... The scene cuts again to a small rapid with water pouring over the rocks on a green hilly backdrop. All the while the piano music plays in the background. The camera zooms in to a rock in the rapids with the water sloshing about it and the scene changes to a glass being filled with Taman Whiskey. The golden brown liquid gently sloshes around in a circular motion, mirroring the rapids and rocks seen before. The scene is again the pub with people sitting in comfortable leather chairs and socializing. The camera lingers on a bottle of Taman beside a full glass, piano playing in the background, the fireplace in the distance, yet visible in the frame. The narrator again: "Taman, smoothness in a bottle". The slogan "Smoothness in a bottle" appear on the screen in white letters. By this point, all the classic tropes of the liquor advertising industry have been shown, the viewer is lulled by the music and the narrator's slow gentle delivery, and it appears the commercial is at an Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Super Bowl Commercials: Commercial Analysis Some people say the best part about the super bowl is the commercials, here are some compared to each other. The first commercial is called the 'Honda Yearbook'. In this commercial, it shows old pictures of celebrities as young adults. They all tell you something to do that is related to chasing your dreams. For example, Jimmy Kimmel says, "If you want to play the clarinet, maybe don't dress like this, but play the clarinet." In the picture, Jimmy was in his band uniform from high school holding a clarinet. Tina Fey started making fun of a red rose that she was holding in her picture. The people who created this commercial were trying to persuade you to chase your dreams by having celebrities as the main characters to catch someone's attention....show more content... • 19. Bruce Braley Commercial Analysis Essay The claim in the commercial for Bruce Braley is that Bruce Braley wants to help the people of Iowa. Throughout the commercial Braley uses a combination of ethos, logos, and pathos to get people to vote for him. Coupled with the use of the video, audio, and text track he provides a commercial that provokes the audience to think of Braley as the guy to help Iowa. The first track we hear being used is the audio track. To start off they say his father died and it was the most difficult time in his life. Than they go on to talk about it was Bruce's mom, Marcia, that helped get him back on his feet and convinced him to follow his dream. Although this does represent Braley's perseverance through tough times it also implies something else. That is that his mom helped him, so he will...show more content... The word "Braley" whether used in a name or elsewhere is constantly present on the screen. He uses his name "Bruce Braley" as well as his website "brucebrayle.com" as a way to advertise himself. At the time of this commercial being aired many people might not know who he is, so as a way to become more known he is trying to get his name out there as much as possible. He also puts his mom's name Marcia Braley in the commercial. This helps build the connection and relatability between Bruce Braley and his mom, Marcia Braley. The reason this connection is helpful is because it makes him seem more like his mother who, in the commercial, is displayed as a strong kind woman. This connection implies that Bruce Braley might also have these same traits as he is her own son. Finally at the end of the video we see an outline of the state of Iowa with the name "Bruce Braley For U.S. Senate". This use of the visual track is not subtle at all. The director purposely did this to make it seem like if Braley got voted for US Senate he would be all about helping Iowa in Washington, just like how he is helping Iowans right now in the state of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
