Black History Reflection
It was soon my group's turn to perform on stage. The Black History assembly was upon us and we within my group we were tasked with black
history Past. Present. Future. Some of my group members were assigned Harriet Tubman, Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali, and Barack Obama
among others. When Harriet went I smiled, when Diddy went I laughed, when Oprah went I seized. See I was tasked with Alvin Ailey; World
famous dancer and one of the first black males to do it on a professional level. I didn't know not a thing about ballet so I immediately thought of the
impossible. I only knew how to dance hip–hop, so I researched him and found out the dance style he created and analyzed it. His dance style was
fluid yet robust, as if he was a gust of pure everlasting

Black History Month Summary And Analysis
Worked in collaboration with a local artist and the Artist in Residence, Fran Joy, for the celebration of Black History Month, 2015. The work
involved research of true stories around the globe to highlight atrocities that have taken place with people in the name of religion and color. My work
comprised of a picture of an African American male who is standing with his face and back toward the wall and his hands on the wall to show the
helplessness and need of time to pay attention to unfathomable suffering of people in pain. The picture was a 36 x 17 mounted picture. The work was
on display along with the pictures of others who are real sufferers.

People are living in this World as a human. Every people are against off al cultural directions they are same they born like a similar but cultural
damages family damages are changing them. Before whitening this essay I would like to share one idea which is the Hetherington's essay, "Why does
Black History month receive so little attention in Vancouver?(p.43)"The article suggests that the spatial factor causes black history to be neglected,
therefore making it important for Vancouver to celebrate Black History Month. The article suggests that the only beneficial thing that occurred from
segregation was that "it encouraged people to develop their community". Today in Geography, we discussed the idea of 'good segregation' versus 'bad
segregation'....show more content...
Different dimensions of segregation (or its contrary) are recognized: exposure, evenness, clustering, concentration, centralization, extra factors. People
are affecting the Multiculturalism from many ways such as a person which is the lives in one of the big city from USA in New York and other
person which is the lives in Turkey's Diyarbakir city. Those people exactly not same because the above affecting things. Moreover, I'm totally agree
that assimilation does not rid us of segregation issues. Additionally, while some immigrants arriving in Canada may find these spatially separate
communities helpful, others may find them to be isolating. I believe that regardless of whether you are living in a multicultural, mosaic style country or
an assimilated, melting pot, country; segregation can occur and thus it is important to be continually working towards being an inclusive country. I
abhor French dirigisme and also reject any think that will emphases historical difference such as the Dutch system of polarization a respectable world

Africans–Caribbean or Asian people by putting them in to the marked. (In clarity and Daniel (Eds) 2005,

February is not only the month of hearts, we also celebrate Black History Month. In Hollywood News Source, we always aim to include diverse
voices. We believe that books are significant platform in embracing visibility. In this political climate, it's vital for us to celebrate what makes us

Reflection On African American History
Over the course of this semester, I was introduced to many people, ideas, writings, and discussions that sparked my interest and enlightened me on
African American history. However, I feel like this was just the beginning of my journey of learning the history of my people, as there is still so much
out there to be brought to the surface. Prior to taking this course, I was always ignorant on the topic of African American history and simply made the
connection to slavery. Additionally, I was unaware of other black activist, movements, and struggles that I had the chance to witness for the first time in
this class. I came to a realization of how deprived of this information I was, because other historic events have been deemed more important. A quote
that stuck with me throughout the course that was made by Arthur Schomburg was, "... African history and negro history, are the missing pages of
world history". At the start of this semester we discuss an issue that has poisoned the dynamic of society in the United States since the beginning, white
supremacy. For centuries, members of the white community have simply used the color of their skin to attain and remain in power. In my opinion,
those that use their white privilege to partake in white supremacy are the only ones who benefit from this poison. White supremacy continues to be
fueled in the United States, and plays just as big of a factor in today's world as it did many years ago. There is no retaliation for uproars or

Reflection On Black History Months
In the month of February, I had the opportunity to attend my high school William Turner Technical Arts High school. February is African American
history month and is celebrated annually in the United States. Each year Turner Tech high school dedicates this month to the fighters, heroes, the
outspoken, any and everyone who was involved actively participating for freedom amongst the African American people. Turner tech also focuses on
the people who have not been acknowledged fully for their commitments fighting for freedom. If I was to explain what Black history months means to
me I would simply say "Courage".
Focusing on the humanities of the black history show I attended inspired me to actuaually view the details of how a culture interacts.

National African American History Year
Every year, February is to be known as the Black History Month, or formally known as National African American History Month. It is an annual
commemoration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in United States history.
Black History Month had its origins in 1915 when Dr. Cater G. Woodson and his colleagues founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and
History ("African American History Month," 2014). This organization is now known as the Association for the Study of African American Life and
History. Through this organization, Dr. Cater G. Woodson played the greatest role in helping all Americans know the Black past by initiating
"Negro History Week" in Washington, D.C. in February 1926 (Bunch, 2012). Dr. Woodson selected the week in February that included the
birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass due to the fact they were key figures in the history of African Americans ("African American
History Month," 2014). According to Bunch (2012), Woodson believed that "the black experience was too important simply to be left to a small
group of academics." Dr. Cater G. Woodson, a son of a slave, was born in New Canton, Virginia on December 19, 1875 (Bellis, n.d.). Although he did
not enter high school until the age of 20, he continued to study at Berea College, the University of Chicago, the Sorbonne, and Harvard University,
where he earned a PhD in 1912 (Bellis, n.d.). During this time,

Black History Importance Essay
Black History Importance The time has come again to celebrate the achievements of all black men and women who have chipped in to form the Black
society. There are television programs about the African Queens and Kings who never set sail for America, but are acknowledged as the pillars of our
identity. In addition, our black school children finally get to hear about the history of their ancestors instead of hearing about Columbus and the
founding of America. The great founding of America briefly includes the slavery period and the Antebellum south, but readily excludes both black men
and women, such as George Washington Carver, Langston Hughes, and Mary Bethune. These men and women have contributed greatly to American
society....show more content...
Black Americans should be acknowledged for not only their contributions to American society, but also for being a part of American society and
upholding the traditions and values of this country. Black History Month should not be a celebration that comes and goes in our own minds and
homes. Black History Month should not be a remembrance that is acknowledged only when the official day begins. Black History Month is an
accomplishment that we should be proud of in the Black community. Carter G. Woodson chose the month of February for some important reasons.
For instance, Black History Month marks the birthdays of two men who influenced the black population, Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln
according to Woodson. In addition, the Fifteenth Amendment was passed on February 3, 1870, which granted blacks the right to vote. There were a
lot of significant reasons for allowing Black History Week to begin in February. However, I seriously doubt if Woodson would have accepted the
extension of this week in the shortest month of the year. Woodson chose a week in February, because it had symbolic significance. Black History
Week began in 1926. However, it is now 1999 and in seventy–three years Black Americans allowed our contributions to American society to be
extended from Negro History Week to Black History

Black History Month Reflection
February 1st signals the beginning of Black History Month. While there are many disputes arising from this celebration, including its brevity and
timing, being able to have time dedicated to honoring the history of the African population who now call the United States of America home. Even
this, however, is marginalized by the history books. We as a society spend weeks learning about the famous faces of the Civil Rights Movement. We
know all about Dr. Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks. I personally have respect for them and their contributions to black culture. However, we often
overlook other important heroes in our culture. These individuals also fought for change, progress, and equality. But we do them a great disservice by

Education was the key to one's social status and was revered as such. We live in the United States of America, the poster boy of socio–economic
freedom and capitalism. Here, the idea is that anyone can work their way up from the lower to upper class; many call it "rags to riches." One of our
founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, was famously able to do so and become one of the leaders of the "New World". However, this class progression
is conditional. Hard work is required. No one knows how many hours Franklin spent studying, learning, calculating, working before his success. As
such, I aspire to similarly transcend my surroundings as a first–generation immigrant and become a successful individual. However, this requires
determination and grit. It also requires a good education. Education is the key to socio–economic success and upward social mobility. It is the key to
advancing one's status in life and Dr. Wilson recognized this. He also recognized the lapse in the American education system when it came to
understanding and appreciating the work of the African population now residing in America. Surely enough, his work would have been mentioned in a
history book had this foul system of white–washing and mass–producing falsified and fabricated portions of our history been

Black History Month
Black history is remembering African Americans and their roles they contributed to the U.S. society. It was in those times that people for color
fought for equality. We recognized them for their accomplishments, achievements, and diversity of African Americans. In my opinion, people use the
premise of black history as only remembering people whom fought for civil rights, not the black scientists, doctors, etc. whom made a difference in
America. It was started as Negro history week by Carter G. Woodson in 1926, then in 1976 President Ford officially recognized February as Black
History Month. But it does concerns me that our people of color are being memorialized once a month and not spoked along with all American history
throughout the year.

Importance Of Black History Month
The purpose of this paper is to inform readers about the importance of the celebration of African American History Month. There is a misconception
about African American or Black History Month. Black History Month is the annual festivals that have been observed in the United States to recognize
the achievements of African American Social Reformers, Civil Rights Activists, and other essentials people in Black History. This paper will focus on
the reasons behind the celebration. I ponder the importance of celebrating African American History Month. I also contemplate on the main reason to
celebrate the event in February.
Black History Month or African American History Month is celebrated every year to recognize the vital role of African American in the United States
History. Black History Month has been honor in February. The main reasons to mark February as a History Month was because the birthday of President
Abraham Lincoln who abolished slavery is in February. Also, the birthday of Frederick Douglass, who was a social reformer and abolitionist, is on the
week of February. The other reason is an African American gain the right to vote in February. Those ideas make February commemorate African
American and American History Month. There are several reasons for the celebration of African American History Month.

Informative Essay On Black History
Black history is an important topic in America, but not to everyone. Black history is a part of American history, but yet it is not treated like American
history. America has so much diversity that we should be teaching the students about everyone's history. It will teach the students how much America
has changed and how it is still the same. Yes, black history should be taught through–out the school year. Isolating black history to just a month is
actually rasict. It's showing that America doesn't think black history is important, because it shows America's flaws. If it wasn't for the antiquity of
African Americans, America wouldn't be the way it is now. The regular American History shows thatwhite people are strong and it makes it seem

Reflection On Black History Month
In light of a multitude of injustices in our world, I wanted to close out this Black History Month and honor some of our favorite Black musicians
and composers with a full episode dedicated to their efforts. Additionally, this is our first show of 2016, which parallels as Cease to Exist's 6th Year
Anniversary. I established the radio program while living in Portland, OR in 2010, and aired the inaugural show January 18th, on Martin Luther King
Jr. Day that year; a pleasant coincidence. By no means is this a definitive or complete collection of what I believe to be the best music created by these
artists, but absolutely some influential tracks among them. This list was culled from many considerations made by the public, and various references

Black History Month Research Paper
Growing up black history month seemed to be something that was rehearsed, I remember in 4th grade my fellow classmates would choose
someone they wanted to be, learn a short dialogue about that person's life and that was it. Then it got creative, pieces of papers handed out to
everyone in the class to color Martian Luther King and Rosa Parks when in all actuality there was more to our history. Over the course of time the
perception of African Americans has continued to be the same and even with a legacy of people who have paved the way for us many people don't
seem to appreciate it. Black history month has lost its value over time especially in my generation. My personal opinion on black history month is that
it is ridiculous, why should the

Why Is Black History Month Important
A Beam of Light to the Sunshine State In the campus of the college she founded, by the most beautiful beach, humbly and quietly rests a great soul,
Mary McLeod Bethune. Many people wonder why Black History Month is so important. Black History Month is not just a name, it is a celebration
of innovative Black Americans like Mary McLeod Bethune, who didn't let racial discrimination and discouragement stop her from achieving her
dreams against all odds. In 1904, black children in Daytona, Florida received no education, but instead labored tirelessly in the cotton fields. On
October 3, with $1.50, and faith in God, the very determined young Mary McLeod opened the Daytona Literary

Black History Reflection

  • 1. Black History Reflection It was soon my group's turn to perform on stage. The Black History assembly was upon us and we within my group we were tasked with black history Past. Present. Future. Some of my group members were assigned Harriet Tubman, Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali, and Barack Obama among others. When Harriet went I smiled, when Diddy went I laughed, when Oprah went I seized. See I was tasked with Alvin Ailey; World famous dancer and one of the first black males to do it on a professional level. I didn't know not a thing about ballet so I immediately thought of the impossible. I only knew how to dance hip–hop, so I researched him and found out the dance style he created and analyzed it. His dance style was fluid yet robust, as if he was a gust of pure everlasting Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Black History Month Summary And Analysis Worked in collaboration with a local artist and the Artist in Residence, Fran Joy, for the celebration of Black History Month, 2015. The work involved research of true stories around the globe to highlight atrocities that have taken place with people in the name of religion and color. My work comprised of a picture of an African American male who is standing with his face and back toward the wall and his hands on the wall to show the helplessness and need of time to pay attention to unfathomable suffering of people in pain. The picture was a 36 x 17 mounted picture. The work was on display along with the pictures of others who are real sufferers. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Black History Month Nicholson People are living in this World as a human. Every people are against off al cultural directions they are same they born like a similar but cultural damages family damages are changing them. Before whitening this essay I would like to share one idea which is the Hetherington's essay, "Why does Black History month receive so little attention in Vancouver?(p.43)"The article suggests that the spatial factor causes black history to be neglected, therefore making it important for Vancouver to celebrate Black History Month. The article suggests that the only beneficial thing that occurred from segregation was that "it encouraged people to develop their community". Today in Geography, we discussed the idea of 'good segregation' versus 'bad segregation'....show more content... Different dimensions of segregation (or its contrary) are recognized: exposure, evenness, clustering, concentration, centralization, extra factors. People are affecting the Multiculturalism from many ways such as a person which is the lives in one of the big city from USA in New York and other person which is the lives in Turkey's Diyarbakir city. Those people exactly not same because the above affecting things. Moreover, I'm totally agree that assimilation does not rid us of segregation issues. Additionally, while some immigrants arriving in Canada may find these spatially separate communities helpful, others may find them to be isolating. I believe that regardless of whether you are living in a multicultural, mosaic style country or an assimilated, melting pot, country; segregation can occur and thus it is important to be continually working towards being an inclusive country. I abhor French dirigisme and also reject any think that will emphases historical difference such as the Dutch system of polarization a respectable world for what is religious and civic segregation. Every community needs to retain its traditions but we can't simply meet the needs of Africans of Africans–Caribbean or Asian people by putting them in to the marked. Research Paper On Black History Month Black history month has been celebrated for many years in America; People often celebrated the struggle through events or films but not all citizens liked the events or films. For instance, in the book Between The World and Me, the author coates disliked how the people were being shown to celebrate the legacy of African Americans. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. Reflection On African American History Over the course of this semester, I was introduced to many people, ideas, writings, and discussions that sparked my interest and enlightened me on African American history. However, I feel like this was just the beginning of my journey of learning the history of my people, as there is still so much out there to be brought to the surface. Prior to taking this course, I was always ignorant on the topic of African American history and simply made the connection to slavery. Additionally, I was unaware of other black activist, movements, and struggles that I had the chance to witness for the first time in this class. I came to a realization of how deprived of this information I was, because other historic events have been deemed more important. A quote that stuck with me throughout the course that was made by Arthur Schomburg was, "... African history and negro history, are the missing pages of world history". At the start of this semester we discuss an issue that has poisoned the dynamic of society in the United States since the beginning, white supremacy. For centuries, members of the white community have simply used the color of their skin to attain and remain in power. In my opinion, those that use their white privilege to partake in white supremacy are the only ones who benefit from this poison. White supremacy continues to be fueled in the United States, and plays just as big of a factor in today's world as it did many years ago. There is no retaliation for uproars or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Reflection On Black History Months In the month of February, I had the opportunity to attend my high school William Turner Technical Arts High school. February is African American history month and is celebrated annually in the United States. Each year Turner Tech high school dedicates this month to the fighters, heroes, the outspoken, any and everyone who was involved actively participating for freedom amongst the African American people. Turner tech also focuses on the people who have not been acknowledged fully for their commitments fighting for freedom. If I was to explain what Black history months means to me I would simply say "Courage". Focusing on the humanities of the black history show I attended inspired me to actuaually view the details of how a culture interacts. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. National African American History Year Every year, February is to be known as the Black History Month, or formally known as National African American History Month. It is an annual commemoration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in United States history. Black History Month had its origins in 1915 when Dr. Cater G. Woodson and his colleagues founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History ("African American History Month," 2014). This organization is now known as the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. Through this organization, Dr. Cater G. Woodson played the greatest role in helping all Americans know the Black past by initiating "Negro History Week" in Washington, D.C. in February 1926 (Bunch, 2012). Dr. Woodson selected the week in February that included the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass due to the fact they were key figures in the history of African Americans ("African American History Month," 2014). According to Bunch (2012), Woodson believed that "the black experience was too important simply to be left to a small group of academics." Dr. Cater G. Woodson, a son of a slave, was born in New Canton, Virginia on December 19, 1875 (Bellis, n.d.). Although he did not enter high school until the age of 20, he continued to study at Berea College, the University of Chicago, the Sorbonne, and Harvard University, where he earned a PhD in 1912 (Bellis, n.d.). During this time, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Black History Importance Essay Black History Importance The time has come again to celebrate the achievements of all black men and women who have chipped in to form the Black society. There are television programs about the African Queens and Kings who never set sail for America, but are acknowledged as the pillars of our identity. In addition, our black school children finally get to hear about the history of their ancestors instead of hearing about Columbus and the founding of America. The great founding of America briefly includes the slavery period and the Antebellum south, but readily excludes both black men and women, such as George Washington Carver, Langston Hughes, and Mary Bethune. These men and women have contributed greatly to American society....show more content... Black Americans should be acknowledged for not only their contributions to American society, but also for being a part of American society and upholding the traditions and values of this country. Black History Month should not be a celebration that comes and goes in our own minds and homes. Black History Month should not be a remembrance that is acknowledged only when the official day begins. Black History Month is an accomplishment that we should be proud of in the Black community. Carter G. Woodson chose the month of February for some important reasons. For instance, Black History Month marks the birthdays of two men who influenced the black population, Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln according to Woodson. In addition, the Fifteenth Amendment was passed on February 3, 1870, which granted blacks the right to vote. There were a lot of significant reasons for allowing Black History Week to begin in February. However, I seriously doubt if Woodson would have accepted the extension of this week in the shortest month of the year. Woodson chose a week in February, because it had symbolic significance. Black History Week began in 1926. However, it is now 1999 and in seventy–three years Black Americans allowed our contributions to American society to be extended from Negro History Week to Black History Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Black History Month Reflection February 1st signals the beginning of Black History Month. While there are many disputes arising from this celebration, including its brevity and timing, being able to have time dedicated to honoring the history of the African population who now call the United States of America home. Even this, however, is marginalized by the history books. We as a society spend weeks learning about the famous faces of the Civil Rights Movement. We know all about Dr. Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks. I personally have respect for them and their contributions to black culture. However, we often overlook other important heroes in our culture. These individuals also fought for change, progress, and equality. But we do them a great disservice by neglecting their...show more content... Education was the key to one's social status and was revered as such. We live in the United States of America, the poster boy of socio–economic freedom and capitalism. Here, the idea is that anyone can work their way up from the lower to upper class; many call it "rags to riches." One of our founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, was famously able to do so and become one of the leaders of the "New World". However, this class progression is conditional. Hard work is required. No one knows how many hours Franklin spent studying, learning, calculating, working before his success. As such, I aspire to similarly transcend my surroundings as a first–generation immigrant and become a successful individual. However, this requires determination and grit. It also requires a good education. Education is the key to socio–economic success and upward social mobility. It is the key to advancing one's status in life and Dr. Wilson recognized this. He also recognized the lapse in the American education system when it came to understanding and appreciating the work of the African population now residing in America. Surely enough, his work would have been mentioned in a history book had this foul system of white–washing and mass–producing falsified and fabricated portions of our history been Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Black History Month Black history is remembering African Americans and their roles they contributed to the U.S. society. It was in those times that people for color fought for equality. We recognized them for their accomplishments, achievements, and diversity of African Americans. In my opinion, people use the premise of black history as only remembering people whom fought for civil rights, not the black scientists, doctors, etc. whom made a difference in America. It was started as Negro history week by Carter G. Woodson in 1926, then in 1976 President Ford officially recognized February as Black History Month. But it does concerns me that our people of color are being memorialized once a month and not spoked along with all American history throughout the year. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 13. Informative Essay On Black History Black history is an important topic in America, but not to everyone. Black history is a part of American history, but yet it is not treated like American history. America has so much diversity that we should be teaching the students about everyone's history. It will teach the students how much America has changed and how it is still the same. Yes, black history should be taught through–out the school year. Isolating black history to just a month is actually rasict. It's showing that America doesn't think black history is important, because it shows America's flaws. If it wasn't for the antiquity of African Americans, America wouldn't be the way it is now. The regular American History shows thatwhite people are strong and it makes it seem Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Black History Month or National African American History Month is an annual celebration of the achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. The event was first known as Negro History Week. Since 1976, the U.S President officially made it Black History Month. Also, by the late 1960, thanks in part to the Civil Rights Monument and a growing awareness of black identity, Negro History Week had evolved into Black History Month. They sponsored the event to be in the month of february .The event inspired a lot of schools and communities nationwide to make local celebrations, establish history clubs and host performances and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. Reflection On Black History Month In light of a multitude of injustices in our world, I wanted to close out this Black History Month and honor some of our favorite Black musicians and composers with a full episode dedicated to their efforts. Additionally, this is our first show of 2016, which parallels as Cease to Exist's 6th Year Anniversary. I established the radio program while living in Portland, OR in 2010, and aired the inaugural show January 18th, on Martin Luther King Jr. Day that year; a pleasant coincidence. By no means is this a definitive or complete collection of what I believe to be the best music created by these artists, but absolutely some influential tracks among them. • 17. Black History Month Research Paper Growing up black history month seemed to be something that was rehearsed, I remember in 4th grade my fellow classmates would choose someone they wanted to be, learn a short dialogue about that person's life and that was it. Then it got creative, pieces of papers handed out to everyone in the class to color Martian Luther King and Rosa Parks when in all actuality there was more to our history. Over the course of time the perception of African Americans has continued to be the same and even with a legacy of people who have paved the way for us many people don't seem to appreciate it. Black history month has lost its value over time especially in my generation. My personal opinion on black history month is that it is ridiculous, why should the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Why Is Black History Month Important A Beam of Light to the Sunshine State In the campus of the college she founded, by the most beautiful beach, humbly and quietly rests a great soul, Mary McLeod Bethune. Many people wonder why Black History Month is so important. Black History Month is not just a name, it is a celebration of innovative Black Americans like Mary McLeod Bethune, who didn't let racial discrimination and discouragement stop her from achieving her dreams against all odds. In 1904, black children in Daytona, Florida received no education, but instead labored tirelessly in the cotton fields. On October 3, with $1.50, and faith in God, the very determined young Mary McLeod opened the Daytona Literary Get more content on HelpWriting.net
