7. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The design was intended to be the dematerialization of the
building to the person who observes from the beach, creating
open plans and glazing to the east, leaving the spaces most
closed to the west. We opted for the creation of a base, yet
soft, to the whole building and terrace area allowing an
elevation over the territory, thus achieving a greater visual
projection on the beach, emphasizing the connection to the
village and to the sea.
We designed a building composed of three volumes that
are tied together at the entrance, which also provides
connection to the outdoor deck, where you access the
building. Each volume consists of different spaces yet they all
complement each other. The public areas are located in both
lower and longer volumes that are open to the East,
projecting himself visually. The third volume, more distant and
closed, integrates the service areas. The entrance is
emphasized by the frame of the most advanced volume,
which extends to the access stairs.
Regarding to the materials selected, we gave special
attention to wood, glass, and white, that relates to the beach,
the mountains and sea, and contribute to customization of the
various spaces and environments. The base of the building
composed of treated timber, based on wooden stakes. The
building structure consist of columns and beams in glued
laminated wood, treated with insecticide, fungicide and hydro
repellent. The coverage is composed of wooden interior lining
with vapor barrier, mineral wool insulation and covered
externally by simple sandwich panels.
The building skin is made of wood panels with two types of
finish, treated wood in natural color and white paint. The
glazing are framed by aluminum in dark gray, and colorless
laminated glass.

13. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This proposal seeks primarily to establish a
coherent relationship with the place. In this
specific project, the location of insertion came a
key factor in its development mainly by the fact
that the sea view and the side with greater
exposure to the sun were on opposite sides. In
this sense we propose a house that, while it is
projected upon the ocean to the north, also opens
in search of sun to the south.
Taking into account the various constraints and
objectives, we propose the creation of a stone
wall that rips the intire house, making the
separation between social and private. This wall is
not only the separation but also works as an
organizing element of the spaces. It is this
element which are concentrated the vertical
access, accentuating it's importance.
The house is developed on three floors, with the
1st basement buried incorporating a garage and
an office, on the ground floor are the spaces of
social, services and private rooms, on the top
floor will be integrated leisure and reading areas,
always overlooking the sea by the mezzanine
over the living room.

19. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This proposal essentially seeks an optimal solution between
the default program and the creation of a consistent
relationship to the site. In this sense, we opted for a building
arranged on four floors, with shops and garage at ground floor
and six dwellings distributed across three upper floors.
The nearest surroundings already has a density of buildings,
mostly of multi-purpose buildings for housing, commerce and
services, which have been consolidating the avenue, which is
also an important road connecting to other clusters and is
therefore one of important factors in developing this project.
The project also took into account various factors considered
relevant in its surroundings, including important elements in the
territory, as is the religious building from the 50's, the Mother
Church of Corredoura, and from a more distant but no less
important, the Castle of Sesimbra .
Also the visual projection on the upper floors of the valley of
the Seven Paths to the south and the mountains, and in
particular the Mill, are important elements that contrast with the
densified urban image. Moreover, the location of building on
the main artery of Santana, which already has a lot of
movement, could become a problem in particular for the
residential spaces.
In this sense, the idea of this building is to create an element
that marks the Avenue, since it is located near the new
roundabout, giving it some formality and sobriety contrasting
with the nearby surroundings, and while most can contemplate
the distant surrounding. This formal character is transmitted
primarily by the more restrained and closed image of the
building, which retains its facade in the foreground, in line with
the Avenue.

23. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Considering the area of intervention, the program
pre-set with the client as well as other physical and
legal constraints, it is proposed the change and
rehabilitation of two existing houses on the property
trying to meet the needs of its future inhabitants, with
particular attention not only to the organization of the
interior spaces as well as in how they articulate with
the surroundings.
One element to note is definitely an old lime kiln that
exists on the place, proposing to his recovery and
rehabilitation so that it is assumed as a reference to
those arriving at the property.
For the alteration and rehabilitation of the two
existing homes, our proposal primarily seeks to
ensure the conditions necessary for its livability and
use by the client and his family, and for that needed
some "fitness" given the existing low areas.
In the mentioned first house, we propose one house
unit spread across three divisions rooms, kitchen and
2 IS, and the second house, also proposed the
creation of one house unit but it spread over only 2
divisions rooms, kitchen and IS.
In relation to outdoor spaces, the proposal also
seeks to emphasize and highlight certain aspects
and features of existing buildings, particularly in terms
of materials and coatings, thus achieving maintain
the characteristics of a country house. However, it
was also our desire to integrate some current
materials, thus achieving not only maintain its original
characteristics but also giving it a more
contemporary and modern look.

27. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
In terms of volume and because of the constraints
offered by the terrain, either by its size or by its shape,
compelled us to be more careful in the implementation
of the house, in particular in its relation to the
surroundings, seeking a spatial and visual continuity
between the inner house, the environment and outdoor
spaces now proposed.
In this sense, we located the social and service spaces
on the ground floor, connected either with the view to
the West or to the central courtyard proposed, and the
top floor, more private, integrating the family rooms ,
which sought primarily to sun exposure and overlooking
the sea.
In this context, and given the very solar orientation,
sought to define two distinct zones in terms of views
and exposure. On the one hand an area that relates to
the West with the view and the other an area more
facing south in search of warmth and sunshine, thus
achieving a recreation area next to the living room and
garden more enjoyable.
Thus, housing turns his back on the east, projecting
visually for the view to the west, and south to the
courtyard, being much more permeable seeking
greater relationship between exterior and interior.

33. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project comes from a reflection on that act of living
itself, taking into consideration the various aspects that
may determine whether it is the needs and wishes of its
future inhabitants or by the place and environment and
how these may influence the project .
In this sense, and looking for a volumetric that
integrated onsite, we opted for a house organized over
two floors, maintaining a relationship in terms of
heights, balanced with the other built environment. We
also sought to protect the house from the adjoining
street, thus ensuring the necessary privacy to the main
interior spaces.
The access to house is made by East / North, thereby
releasing the spaces in the South and West areas for
leisure and garden. Therefore, we propose for the
North / East side, a facade quite closed, with few
openings and on the other hand, in the South / West, a
facade much more permeable, looking not only for a
higher relation between inner and outer spaces, as well
as the enjoyment of the sunlight.
The entrance zone is specially designed in terms of its
location, where we sought to place the lobby in a
central area, thus ensuring a good distribution to the
social and functional areas, as well as a small office
and the stairs to the upper floor where the family
bedrooms are located.
