4. ► As part of the Government’s Construction 2025 Strategy,
BIM aims to contribute towards significant savings for clients
and communities including up to :-
• 33% lower costs in design and construction
• 50% reduction in time from inception to
completion
• 50% reduction in greenhouse emissions
► Academic studies on BIM projects suggest a 10%
construction cost reduction through clash detection on the
contract value and a 7% reduction in average project time.

5. 1st January 2016 compliance deadline
► The UK Government has made it mandatory for all
central government construction contracts to be
compliant to Level 2 Building Information Modelling
(BIM) from 1st January 2016
► Level 2 is a proven managed 3D environment using
separate discipline “BIM” tools with attached data and
integrating commercial data.

6. ► The advantages of BIM to clients also include:
• Better client briefs and reduced scope creep
• More supply chain design engagement
• Opportunity for more offsite manufacture and
prefabrication
• Better visibility of forward program
• Replace adversarial with collaborative cultures
• Better alignment of design, construct, occupy and
manage
