2. Camera
Wide shot, 180 degree rule
• In the start of the trailer the scene
opens with a long angle which was
used to establish the setting of the
film.
• These wide and long angles also
allow the audience to feel more
immersed and impressed by the
sheer scale of where the film is set
in, especially in historic films based
on facts.
The 180 degree rule was used in
scenes where characters interacted
with each other to establish to the
audience a setting for where the
characters are standing and to
maintain continuity.
3. Camera
Close ups
• Close ups where used in the film
as they can not only focus on
certain things for the audience to
focus on but can also be used to
close up on faces to show their
emotions in the current scene
5. Sound
• There is a constant score of a large orchestra playing music that changes
varying on the action taking place on screen, if a lot is happening the music
would speed up and become louder and in calmer scenes of dialogue the
music would completely stop to allow for the scene to develop the
characters.
There are often large
masses of people in one
place. This use of diegetic
sound makes the scene
more realistic and
immersive rather than
leaving the scene quiet and
empty.
6. Sound
• A voice over can be used to tell a
back story to the audience to let
them have some background
knowledge about the films
setting. In this film the voice over
was used to introduce the
characters and their actors.
7. Editing
• Cuts were used very often in the trailer
as they would want to show some of the
most important parts.
• These cuts change in perspectives to
show the following scene in a larger
scale.
Using a match cut, cuts from one
scene to a similar scene to create
suspense. This sort of cut was used to
create suspense in an inspirational
speech, cutting between the speaker
and the listeners.
