4. A Few Simple Checks!
• P-Pain Control or sedation. Ask your patient if they need
something for pain or if they need to be made more
comfortable.
• E-Elimination or toileting. Ask patients if they need to be
toileted before lights out or nighttime sedation.
• Environmental check or scan. Ensure that the rooms are safe
for staff and patients. Check to see if the area is free of
equipment and night lights are on.
• Key Items in Reach. Glasses, water and special items should
be placed within reach. Make sure the call bell is also within
the patients reach!
