Time is broken up into millenniums, centuries, decades, years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds for our benefit. The benefit to us is separation. We do not have to be held captive by a single division of time, we can separate and walk in a new division. God is the Father of time and He created it to be used in the same way represented in the beginning. Time is to be used for creating.

establish the work of our hands.

Time is broken up into millenniums,

benefit. The benefit to us is separation.
We do not have to be held captive by a
single division of time, we can separate
and walk in a new division. God is the
Father of time and He created it to be used
in the same way represented in the

creating. Today’s message begins a new
series of conversations that we will have
concerning the purpose of our days.

Genesis 2:1-3 (NIV) 1Thus the heavens and the earth
were completed in all their vast array. 2By the seventh
day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on
the seventh day he rested from all his work. 3And God
blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it
he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
Matthew 23:23 (NIV) 23“Woe to you, teachers of the law
and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your
spices—mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected
the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy
and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter,
without neglecting the former.

6. Each Day Is Important
Hebrews 11:24-26 (NIV) 24By faith Moses
(drawn from water), when he had grown
up, refused to be known as the son of
Pharaoh’s daughter. 25He chose to be
mistreated along with the people of God
rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin
for a short time. 26He regarded disgrace for
the sake of Christ as of greater value than
the treasures of Egypt, because he was
looking ahead to his reward.
7. Each Day Is Important
God put me on this earth to
accomplish a certain number of
things. Right now, I’m so far behind,
I’ll never die.
Cartoonist Calvin Hobbes
8. Each Day Is Important
Life is not just a few years to spend on
self-indulgence and career advancement.
It is a privilege, a responsibility, and a
stewardship to be lived according to a
much higher calling.
Elizabeth Dole

Psalm 90:9-10 (NIV) 9All our days pass away under your

our days is seventy years—or eighty, if we have the
strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for
they quickly pass, and we fly away.
Job 14:1-2 (NIV) 1“Man born of woman is of few days and
full of trouble. 2He springs up like a flower and withers
away; like a fleeting shadow, he does not endure.
2 Thessalonians 3:6 (NIV) In the name of the Lord Jesus
Christ, we command you, brothers, to keep away from

What day is for my surrounding
environment?
Can others find rest by following my
example?

1 Peter 4:3-5 (NIV) 3For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. 4They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you. 5But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
Psalm 49:12-14 (NIV) 12But man, despite his riches, does not endure; he is like the beasts that perish. 13This is the fate of those who trust in themselves, and of their followers, who approve their sayings. Selah 14Like sheep they are destined for the grave, and death will feed on them. The upright will rule over them in the morning; their forms will decay in the grave, far from their princely mansions.
