Patterned Prayer
Prayer is a conversation with God, a
pattern of communication, not a formula
or push this button – or ring this bell type
activity. Yet sometimes we might need to
use a "method" to freshen up our prayer
time. We can pray the Psalms or other
Scriptures, or use the ACTS method
(Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving,
and Supplication).
The most popular prayer, The Lord’s
Prayer, contains a remarkably
encouraging and energizing pattern

Patterned Prayer
1. God’s Protection – Do not lead us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one
 Temptation = allurements toward sin, or trials
        and difficulties of believers
 James 1:12-15 (NKJV) 12Blessed is the man who
endures temptation; for when he has been
approved, he will receive the crown of life
which the Lord has promised to those who love
Him. 13Let no one say when he is tempted, “I
am tempted by God”; for God cannot be
tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt
anyone. 14But each one is tempted when he is
drawn away by his own desires and enticed.
        15
Then, when desire has conceived, it gives
birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown,
        brings forth death.
Temptation
 1 John 2:16-17 (NKJV) 16For all that is in the
world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is
of the world. 17And the world is passing away,
and the lust of it; but he who does the will of
    God abides forever.

 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) 13No temptation has
overtaken you except such as is common to
man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you
to be tempted beyond what you are able, but
with the temptation will also make the way of
escape, that you may be able to bear it.
