ParkProcess, a subsidiary of ParkUSA, designs and manufacture products including dewatering containers, filtration equipment, oil/water separators, blending/mixing equipment and plants, polymer mixing and injection systems, chemical dosing systems, and other solids/liquids separation systems. The industries served by ParkProcess products include municipal, industrial and oil/gas markets. The municipal industry is served through ParkProcess representatives in the US and Canada, while the industrial and oilfield markets will be handled directly by ParkProcess.
2. What are Dewatering Containers?
Dewatering containers consist of a water tight box, an internal filter
system and drainage ports.

3. The Purpose of the
Dewatering Container
Purpose:
To reduce the cost of disposal by separating liquids from
solids
Reduce transportation costs
– no hauling of water
To meet federal or state requirements
Recover the liquid as a product
Clarify the liquid phase
Dewater:
Fly ash, mud, sewage, septage, slurry, liquid waste, food processing waste, pulp, grit,
chemical waste, drill cuttings, clarifier bottoms, DAF sludge, lagoon sludge, storm water
waste, cooling tower sludge, manufacturing liquid waste, industrial waste, construction
site waste water, cement waste, grease trap waste and sludge from a host of other
applications.

5. Dump Hopper – Handled by a standard forklift
Front Loader – Handled by a garbage truck
Roll-Off – Handled by a roll-off truck

6. Available Models
- Container with permanent filter
(Support Panels – Perforated Plate)
- Container with disposable filter
(Support Panels – Combination of Perforated
Plate and Expanded Metal)

8. GritCats are dewatering boxes with reusable filter media. The GritCat is
designed to be used with gritty, or sandy type waste streams that typically
do not require the use of a coagulant or flocculent for dewatering. Other
types of waste made up of large particles can also be used in the GritCat,
i.e. stringy and fibrous solids.
Applications:
Bar Screenings
Hydrocyclone Underflow
Grit Screening Devices
Sand Screws/Screw Classifiers
(other sizes available upon request)
For gritty, sandy solids

9. GeoCats are dewatering boxes that use disposable filter media. The GeoCat is
designed to be used with sticky, slimy, slightly oily, non-uniform, non-specific,
colloidal, or simply hard to dewater sludge where flocculation is not an option. The
GeoCat is also useful for dewatering operations in which the residual sludge cake
would present a clean-up issue, as the disposable filter is discarded with the filter
cake.
Applications:
Vac Truck Waste
Sumps
Grit Removal Devices
Catch Basins
Lift Stations
Sizes:
DH 1-5 cubic yards
FL 2-4 cubic yards
RO 15-30 cubic yards
(other sizes available upon request)
For non-uniform, fine and difficult to dewater solids

10. AquaCats are dewatering boxes with permanently mounted plastic filter media. The
AquaCat is designed to be used with light gravity sludge and slurries made up of very fine
particles that require the addition of a flocculent for effective dewatering.
Applications:
Water Waste Treatment Plant Sludge
Aerobic Digester Sludge
Clarifier Sludge
Racetrack Sludge
Arsenic Sludge
Alum Sludge
Sizes:
DH 2-5 cubic yards
FL 3-6 cubic yards
RO 15-40 cubic yards
(other sizes available upon request)
SBR Sludge
MBR Sludge
WTP Sludge
Waste Hauler Sludge
Septage
Grease Trap Waste
For application requiring the addition of polymer to condition sludge prior to dewatering

11. Different Capacities Available
Capacity is calculated by the amount of water that will fill the hopper in cubic
yards.
Actual cake capacity will be less because of the internal filter support system
which takes away from usable cake volume.

12. General Sizing of
Dewatering Containers
May be influenced by –
Amount of sludge to be dewatered
Size restrictions at facility
Equipment available to handle the dewatering container
Cost of the container

14. Polymer Blending and Injection System
BATCH MIXING SYSTEM
Batch Tank System Advantages:
• Added time needed to “uncoil” the
long chain of polymer molecules
• More effective reaction with sludge
solid particles
• Cost savings over a long period of use
www.ParkProcess.com
15. INLINE MIXING SYSTEM
Advantages of the inline system:
• Small compact systems for
confined areas
• Low initial cost
• More time effective due to instant
mixing

16. General Information
PolyCat & MixCat
Polymer needs to be diluted to a 0.5% solution
Most sludge flows to be treated are in the 50-100 gpm range
Most dosage rates of polymer will be in the 100-200 ppm range
Dosage Rates
1% sludge - 100 ppm
1.5% sludge - 150 ppm
2% sludge - 200 ppm
Polymer Lab tests tend to produce better results than field results

17. GritCat
Filter media is cleanable and reusable
Variety of choices of filter media in different mesh sizes
Stainless steel wire mesh
Polypropylene mesh
Nylon Mesh
Polyester Woven
Filter media type and mesh should be chosen per application
Filter media is typically cleaned with water hose or pressure washer
Filter media comes in panels and can be removed for extra cleaning or
replacement
General Information
www.ParkProcess.com
18. GeoCat
Disposable filters are typically made of non-woven geo-textile available in different
weights
Customer needs to ensure landfill will accept the filter bags
Makes clean-up after dumping easy
Installation of new filter bags is a quick operation
Before dumping the filter media, bags hanging over top rails are unhooked and
thrown over the filter cake
Will filter some waste streams that can't be filtered by permanent filter
General Information
www.ParkProcess.com
19. AquaCat
A WWTP produces 1/50 of its MGD in sludge
1 MGD plant is limit for 1 dewatering box
Most WWTP sludge to be dewatered is in the 1%-2% range
Formula – Gallons of 1% Sludge / 700 = minimum cubic yard capacity of Aquacat
Always a good idea to have a sample of sludge sent in to be tested to determine
best polymer and dosage rate
Oversize container for less frequent dumping

21. Weight Figures
Weight capacities of dewatering boxes
Dump Hoppers: max capacity 6,000 lbs.
Front Loaders: Normal max capacity 5,000 lbs. (depends on the
particular garbage truck)
Roll-Offs: Cake Weight Capacity is related to legal load limit for
highway (40,000 lbs. is a high number)
For Gritty Sandy Waste – 50% Solid Cake weighs – 2,500 lbs./yd.
For Flocculated Bio Solids – 15% Solid Cake weighs – 1,600 lbs./yd.
For other Dewatered Waste – The weight depends on Specific Solids in
the Cake.
Total load can’t exceed capacity of container
