How can brands support Paraplanners Powwows: Informal gatherings - designed by paraplanners for paraplanners - to exchange views, learn things, fix things and share things?
29. But the degree to which participants felt invested in
Powwows is something that’s really surprised us.
30. When we asked people
what they thought was
‘brilliant’ about the
Powwow…
31. “The setting, the interaction and
discussion groups, the food; even the
weather. The thing that really did it
for me was the 'unconference' style
where it wasn't just sit and listen to
the guy up-front. We really did talk
and learn from each other. We also
liked the fact it was independent of
either IFP or PFS. It was an event for
Paraplanners by Paraplanners.”
When we asked people
what they thought was
‘brilliant’ about the
Powwow…
32. “The setting, the informality of the
event, the food, the content of the
sessions, the people - their ethics,
enthusiasm and passion - the
organisation of the event, the emails
before and after, the atmosphere, the
group photo, the speakers, the
chocolate.”
When we asked people
what they thought was
‘brilliant’ about the
Powwow…
33. “The general atmosphere of
collaboration, particularly the
Powwow session at the close of play
where we spoke about the future of
the profession.”
When we asked people
what they thought was
‘brilliant’ about the
Powwow…
45. “Powwow Up North
was not like speaking at
a conference or writing
a blog. Yes, we had to
muster up the courage
to stand in front of
twenty-odd people
and rouse them into a
lively debate, to tap
into what they wanted
to talk about. We had
to be prepared to
improvise. More than
that though, Powwow
Up North was our
baby.”

46. Powwows have proved to be a powerful way for
paraplanners to create their own informal gatherings.
47. In fact, we would describe what’s
happened as more of a ‘movement’.
54. And there are more mini-Powwows
in the pipeline for 2015.
55. So, in addition to
the established
mini-Powwows…
