The Midwest is all of Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and spreads out
around those locations. It is considered the Midwest because when the first
colonies of America settled that was as far west as America went at the time.
Seeing that the Mississippi River, and the Great Lakes are both part of the
Midwest, it served a large role in the development of movement across
America.
Midwest was a big part of movement. It has the Mississippi River and the
Great Lakes: specifically Michigan Lake. Since Michigan Lake was there, Chicago
became a big city. Later, when America got railroad systems, Chicago
developed into a huge train hub; because it is on a big lake and it was already a
popular city. When the interstate came around in the 1950’s, Chicago once
again found itself a major hub of traffic.
In the Midwest, there are not many mountains. The Midwest combines hilly
areas with flat lands which make for good farm land. All of the region
experiences all four seasons. There is both types of trees: coniferous and
deciduous and a decent amount of lakes, with a good precipitation.
The culture in Midwest is mostly working class with the exception of
agriculture, along with industries such as factories. The people are bit faster,
and even talk faster. You would find that most people are Lutheran or Catholic
with the reasoning that it is a European influence.
New England stretches from Maine to New York City. It forms the
northeastern tip of the United States. The term New England comes
from the English settlers. They named the places after what they
were familiar with.
New England has dense population near the coastline and sparse
population inland: The reasoning is because New England is on the
Atlantic Ocean. During the railroad era New England had a good
amount of railroads. When the interstate came around, New
England got more population because of the easier access to New
England.
New England is cold and gets lots of precipitation. New England is
very hilly, almost mountainous, along with both types of trees:
coniferous and deciduous. Also, New England is coastal and the
inland has lots of farmland.
There is a high amount of business in New England and people who
live their speak very fast and drop their R’s. The lifestyle is fast
paced and diverse, and most people are Christian.
The Southwest expands through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and the
lower half of California.
In the Southwest, the population is mainly sparse. This is due to there
being no reason to go down to the Southwest because of the lack of
farmland and expansive desert and mountain region. When America built
railroad systems circa 1850, the Southwest constructed a few railroad
lines. In the 1950’s the Southwest developed a network of highways.
The geography in the Southwest is mostly flat, yet in some places the
Southwest it is mountainous but not on as great a scale as the Colorado
Rockies but there are mountainous areas. Climate wise, the Southwest is
warm, arid and seasonal. Parts of the Southwest are coastal including
lower California and Eastern Texas. In the areas that are not
mountainous, you would find some coniferous, although mainly
deciduous types of trees. Throughout the area, due to lack of rainfall,
cactus grow in large numbers.
The lifestyle of people in the Southwest is another way the region is
unique. Most people in the Southwest speak slowly, with a drawl. There
is a lot of agriculture in the Southwest. However there is no dominant
religion, so it is considered to be independent. Lifestyle in the Southwest
is diverse and independent.
The Mountain region expands through Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Colorado,
Wyoming and Montana.
In the Mountain, the population is sparse because of all the mountains making
it difficult to get through and bad for farmland. Since the Mountain region is
had to get through, the Mountain region had a couple of railroad lines going
through it, so it was easier to get through the Mountain region. When the
interstate came around, the Mountain region established roads.
The Mountain region is very rocky. Since the Mountain region is very
mountainous, the region can be warm and very arid but does it does snow in
the region, and can be the land can be green or desert. Where the land is
green you would find deciduous and closer to the mountains you would find
coniferous.
The economy in the Mountain region is mainly agriculture involving cattle and
there is a lot of tourism in the Mountains. The lifestyle is diverse, independent
and slow. The dialect in the Mountains is even slow and laid back. In the
Mountain region, the religion is diverse and independent.
The Pacific Northwest expands to Washington, Oregon and the top of
California.
The population in the Pacific Northwest is dense in the port cities,
otherwise sparse. The reason that port cities have more population is that it
is on a waterway for transportation. During the 1950’s , when railroads
came around, the Pacific Northwest produced railroads. Once the
interstate came around, the Pacific Northwest manufactured roads.
The Pacific Northwest is mountainous. Since the Pacific Northwest is
coastal, the Pacific Northwest receives of precipitation. Usually, the
weather in the Pacific Northwest is temperate. Even though there is lots of
precipitation, coniferous trees are commonly found in the Pacific
Northwest.
Lifestyle in the Pacific Northwest is diverse, progressive and they do not
rush with things. The Pacific Northwest is cultural, new and independent.
Dialect in the Pacific Northwest is slower, polite and friendly. Pacific
Northwest’s independent with reasoning that it is a Spanish catholic
influence.
The Atlantic spreads from the East Virginias to Florida.
The Atlantic is on the Atlantic ocean. Once railroad systems came around, the
Atlantic fabricated railroad lines. After when the United States developed the
idea of the interstate, Atlantic assembled roads.
Geographic features of the Atlantic states include, the Atlantic ocean,
Appalachian Mountains with flat landed areas and lots of rivers/lakes. The
Atlantic is known for it’s heat and humidity. Because of Atlantics heat and
humidity, common types of trees are coniferous (such as palm trees), but in
the northern parts of the Atlantic, it is seasonal.
With the Atlantic being coastal, the population is very dense. The Atlantic is
cultural along with lots of finances. The lifestyle on the other hand is fast
paced, diverse and independent. Even though the Atlantic is not part of New
England, most people when speaking they will drop their R’s and talk faster.
The Great Plains are located from North Dakota, to
Oklahoma and spreads out around those states.
There is a lot of lakes in the Great Plains. Railroads
were built in the Great Plains. After, when the
interstate was coming around, the Great Plains built
roads.
In the Great Plains it can be cold yet seasonal. Also
Great Plains it can either be wet or really dry. The
Great Plains are very flat and have a massive amount
of lakes.
Religion in the Great Plains is mostly traditional and
conservative Also their lifestyle is slow paced, and
conservative. People in the Great Plains extend their
vowels, and speak slower with almost a drawl.
The Deep South is far east of Texas, Louisiana, Alabama,
Mississippi and Georgia.
Many swamps can be found in the Deep South.
Railroads were built in the Deep South. After, around
1960, the Deep South created roads.
In the Deep South it is very hot, humid and dry. Since of
the mucky weather and swamps, not much people live
there and the population is sparse. There are both
coniferous and deciduous trees.
Lots of people in the Deep South are friendly, slow and
conservative. There is a lot of religion in the Deep South
because the Deep South is right near the bible belt.
However, most people are Christian. People talk in the
Deep South, slow, mannered and with a slight drawl.

It has the Mississippi River and the Great Lakes: specifically Michigan Lake. Since Michigan Lake was there, Chicago became a big city. Later, when America got railroad systems, Chicago developed into a huge train hub; because it is on a big lake and it was already a popular city. When the interstate came around in the 1950’s, Chicago once again found itself a major hub of traffic. In the Midwest, there are not many mountains. Since the Mountain region is very mountainous, the region can be warm and very arid but does it does snow in the region, and can be the land can be green or desert. Where the land is green you would find deciduous and closer to the mountains you would find coniferous.
