survivors are present

triggering to others

• Someone who has been through a sexual/intimate experience(s) that
was against their wishes and/or crossed a set boundary and/or left
them feeling violated, unsafe, harmed or coerced
• Expansive definition, there’s a whole spectrum of survivorhood
• Realizations/feelings around survivors status might be delayed, could
come up weeks, months or even years after the event(s)
• Today’s Focus: mental health impacts of sexual violence, how sexual
violence impacts community, and how community can support
survivors (not going into details about specific events of SV)

  • 7. #OurBodiesOurMinds • Personal definition • Someone who has been through a sexual/intimate experience(s) that was against their wishes and/or crossed a set boundary and/or left them feeling violated, unsafe, harmed or coerced • Expansive definition, there’s a whole spectrum of survivorhood • Realizations/feelings around survivors status might be delayed, could come up weeks, months or even years after the event(s) • Today’s Focus: mental health impacts of sexual violence, how sexual violence impacts community, and how community can support survivors (not going into details about specific events of SV)

We are here to raise awareness around what survivors might be living with, and to learn how we can better support them.
