3. Battle Overviews
The two battles of Saratoga were a major occurrence in the
American Revolution. The first battle, September 19, 1777, the
Americans were attacked and neutralized by the British forces
under General John Burgoyne. However, the cost was dear, at
the next attempt to attack failed, and the Americans
Triumphed.
4. Battle Overviews
The American victory was a sign of strength. The French
recognized this, and joined the war as allies to Britain.
(Tales tell that Washington was so pleased with the alliance he
forgave two men enlisted for execution due to desertion).
