• The fall of Atlanta was a
critical point in the Civil
War, giving
the north more
confidence. The Union
Army under General
William Sherman ordered
the city evacuated and
then burned it as part of
Sherman's policy of total
war. Sherman gave
orders to burnall public
buildings and machine
shops.
3. Battle of Fort Sumter
• Battle of Fort Sumter was
the bloodiest battle in the
U.S.Fort sumter was the
first battle started in the civil
war it began in 1861when
the Southern troops
attacked Fort Sumter with
cannons. The Union men
where out-numbered they
did not have many supplies
left they couldn’t do much
damage to the southern
troops. At 2:30 AM on April
13, 1861 major Anderson
surrendered the Fort.

of Gettysburg started on
July 3, 1863 around 8
a.m in Pennsylvania.
5. Battle of Antietam
• The battle of Antietam
was fought around
Sharpsburg, Maryland
and took place on
September 17, 1862. It
was the bloodiest day
in American history,
with D-day being only
half as bad. It was
certainly the bloodiest
day of the Civil War.

General Grant's military
strategy was on target
as he defeated General
Lee at Petersburg After
the Civil War, Grant
served as the Secretary
of War from August 12,
1867 to January 14,
1868.
8. General Willam T Sherman
• General Sherman was
born February 8, 1820
Sherman was best
remembered for his
leadership during the Civil
War. Beginning with the
battle at First Bull Run he
led troops through Shiloh,
Corinth, Vicksburg,
Chattanooga, Atlanta, the
March to the Sea
