Gangapur, Dist: Aurangabad.
Introduction
 Teaching is an academic process it concerted with sharing of
knowledge, experience and implements the concepts and goes beyond
the knowledge level to higher levels of thinking.
 Teaching consist of getting students involved in the active construction
of knowledge and creating the pedagogical, social and ethical
conditions so that students take it individually and collectively.
 Learning activity is gaining knowledge by studying, practicing and
experiencing something.
 To improve the teaching-learning process, it is mandatory to follow
smart ways of approach.
 Now the approach of education institutes is changing the teaching
methods from the conventional teaching to the more advanced ones.
 The role of education is to empower students with their skills and
attitudes that are essential to their success in our knowledge and society
future.
Conventional Teaching-Learning methods
 Conventional teaching is still a backbone widely used in teaching at higher
level of education.
 Conventional teaching customary chalk and talk technique in classroom
teaching.
 This method is based on to delivers content of particular subject or topic to
learners and understanding level of learner can be measured with help of
written examination.
 Conventional teaching involves instruction and the face to face interaction of
teacher and learners to improve knowledge of both teacher and learners and
also provides better understanding.
 Conventional teaching is teacher-centered and can be very effective
particularly for sharing information, faster method for presenting information,
creating interest and student understand best by lessening.
 However conventional teaching is limiting the classroom for more creative
thinking and also little considering individual difference.
Advanced Teaching-Learning methods
 Advanced methods of teaching include ICT, multimedia tool, smart board, E-
classroom, activity-based learning methods.
 The multimedia tools are best medium to the teaching and provide students
life-long learning as it enables the learner to understand the concept by images,
audio, videos, web, apps etc.
 The use of smart board technique gives more content in less time and provides
skill and understanding to the learners.
 This multimedia technique is highly effective and captivates the interest of
many learners.
Brainstorming
 These sessions are a great way to make student creative.
 In this method the students voice their own multiple ideas for a problem as
multiple brains focusing on one single idea, which ensures numerous ideas and
will also involve everyone into the discussion.
 These sessions will be a great platform for learner to express their own
thoughts.
 It is a very useful method for solving problems, decision making, creative
thinking and team work.
 It develops listening skills.
 Set some ground rules for brainstorming sessions.
 There should be no criticism and the wild ideas should be encouraged.
 Equal participation of students should be there in the session and teacher
should bring out on quantity of ideas and not the quality.
Assignment Method
 Give written assignments that recognize students and help in organization of
knowledge.
 Written assignments, articles, problem solving, execution of projects and team
work helps the students to gain theoretical as well as practical knowledge and
make them creative.
Role Play
 The role-playing technique will make students for better understanding and
allows exploring realistic situations by interacting with other people in a
managed way to develop experience.
 The role-playing technique is more effective in teaching literature, history or
current events.
 The role-playing technique is a best process to make students step out from
their comfort zone and develop their interpersonal skills.
 Teaching through role-playing technique in which a artificial situation is
constructed in the classroom and students are given different roles to play.
 This way the students are able to put to practice what they have learned from
lectures, textbooks etc.
 It is an enjoyable and memorable learning method.
Going beyond the classroom learning
 Organize field trips which relevant to the subject or taking students outside the
classroom to learn more than the classroom teaching.
 Some subject or topics are best understood when they are explained on the field.
Learners gain more knowledge when they see, believe, understand and
experience on field.
 Teacher should arrange industrial visits at every year for each class so that the
students should understand what is current requirement and technologies
introduced in industry.
 Students will find this fresh and exciting and they will easily gain knowledge
and remember what you teach them.
Associated learning
 Associated learning is a two-way process whereby students learn from each
other by sharing ideas, knowledge and experience.
 Associated learning is still a fairly new concept within a school or tutoring
setting, but there are many benefits to this way of learning, as students can
accelerate their learning by discussing their ideas with other students and
taking associated activities.
 Student engagement can be vastly improved as students become active
learners rather than passive.
Flipped Classroom
 This technique basically involves encouraging students to prepare for the
topic before class so that the class becomes a dynamic environment in
which students explore on what they have already learn.
 The benefit of this technique is that it allows for students to work their own
pace and implement.
ICT Tools
 Teachers must use of the technology to make the student accessible.
 To enhance the teaching learning process, web-based assignment, video
lectures, online feedback and online courses should be incorporate in the
teaching.
 To improve the performance in teaching, a teacher must use new technique for
every subject or fields. The use of ICT into teaching-learning practice must be
student centric.
 Technology has growth to an extent that different tools available for ICT is
interactive boards, PPTs, computer, laptops, digital projectors, audio video,
visual presentation, flipped classroom, learning management systems like
MOODLE, MOOCs and canvas, websites and social media.
 The teacher has to setup and design a new learning platform should involve
content, pedagogical, technological, academic, practical, and ethical for
effective online based teaching- learning.
E-classrooms
 Teacher must incorporate audio-visual materials in the classroom to improve
imagination and understanding of the learners.
 E-classrooms deliver more content in less time and teachers can give lecture,
post notes, assignments and tests.
 These methods develop learner ability to listen and also help learner to
understand the concepts better.
Smart boards
 Different teaching techniques have emerged in the education system. The
smart board technique is introduced in the teaching.
 The use of images, videos and presentation, learner can easily understand the
complicated concept or subject in less time.
 Teachers also explain complicated topic in simple form using smart board.
Activity based teaching learning
methods
1. Group Discussion:
 Discussion based teaching learning is one of the best innovating teaching in
which exchange of ideas between group members or teacher and students.
 For effective discussion, the students should have prior knowledge and
information about the topic to be discussed.
 In the group discussion learning is more effective; every student gives his/ her
opinion and develops creativity among learners.
 Chair rotating group discussions is another way of discussion to encourage
students to actively listen to selected speakers who follow a pattern of guiding
class discussion and summarizing previous points.
 For more effective discussion student clubs is innovative method.
 The method of starting student clubs helps the students to share their views,
learn from others and student don’t have to rely on rote learning.
2. Educational Gaming’s:
 Learning through the use of games is one of the teaching methods that have
already been explored especially in elementary education.
 The teacher should design projects that are appropriate for their students,
taking into account their age and knowledge, while making them attractive
enough to provide motivation.
3. Debates:
 Student debates are effective way to enhance critical thinking, cooperative
nature, knowledge among the students and engaging students to analyze
different concepts.
 This technique is useful for achieving greater participation in the classroom
and discussing different issues in a structured environment.
 Teacher must use debates method in teaching learning practices as is a great
way for students to develop many important skills.
4. Projects:
 Project method is mainly focused upon application of knowledge gained.
 This method is used in both primary education and higher education.
 This method not only urges the learner to understand the concept and also
helps in dealing with the real problems.
 Teacher should give project work on different topic to individual or group to
understand concept and knowledge.
5. Quizzes:
 Quizzes tool is common and especially used in schools and higher education.
 Quizzes method in education help to increase concentration, identify gaps in
knowledge, and build confidence to retain information.
6. Demonstrations:
 The concepts that are taught in class rooms have to be supplemented by doing
demonstration sessions for experiential learning.
 The teacher should make conversion of topic or lesson to dramatic form or
reconstruction of an event, novel, story etc. which enhance the interest and
understanding of learners.
7 Storyboard Teaching:
 Storyboarding is a great way to teach any subject which requires step-by-step
memorization or visualization highly conceptual ideas especially history
teachers can use storyboard to recreate events in the form of stories, it would
never be forgotten.
 Such activities are visually registered and even complex ideas were easily
taught among students.
 Storyboards can also be shown among students and make them to tell stories
using their imagination which in turn improve their way of communication and
creative skills.
Thank You
