IMPROVING PEOPLE
Improve people to improve society. This begins with improving thoughts.
You select the thoughts you seek, receive, store, remember, avoid, block, and forget.
Your current and stored thoughts form much of your identity. They also impact every cell,
emotion, and action of your being.
Use thoughts to improve.
• Seek and receive healthy thoughts. For example, be selective about television shows you watch
and music you listen to. Avoid unhealthy ones, such as those that are sad, scary, angry, or
violent. Also limit exposure to negative news, but be adequately informed.
• Use healthy television shows and music as medicines. For example, watch funny shows to
cheer up, and listen to healthy music to be uplifted, energized, or calmed.
• Make healthy attitudes, emotions, and actions happen automatically by repeatedly storing,
recalling, and acting on self-commands.
At times avoid all thoughts of others for a while, and experience only your own thoughts.
At times have focused thought or no thought, to help experience greater peace. You can use
silence, meditation, and music to help produce those states of mind.
Have the courage to question everything. Especially question entities that limit freedom to
question.
Think for yourself. Independently investigate.
Have an open mind. Be able to consider something without necessarily accepting it.
Learn from diverse sources. Assess them for any bias.
Avoid entities that limit freedom to learn.
2
Promote love of learning. Learn and teach. Support sources of learning and knowledge.
Be humbled by the vast unknown.
Use facts and reason to reach conclusions.
Know and own yourself. Be aware of, and accountable for, your thoughts and actions.
Have appropriate thoughts and actions. There is a time and a place for almost everything.
Practice the Golden Rule. Treat others how you want to be treated.
Do not commit sin. Sin is needless harm done to others or self.
Do good. Have good thoughts and good actions.
Obey government laws of your location.
Society is mainly influenced by repeated thoughts from television, movies, radio, audio
recordings, video games, and social media. Some of this causes excessive fear, which benefits
some governments, some religions, some industries, and some banks. Some of it results in
violence.
Produce a more peaceful society by not watching violent shows and movies, not listening to pro-
violence songs, and not playing violent video games. Collectively our thoughts impact our
culture. Boycott anything having or promoting needless violence.

STATE of DEMOCRACIES
Two-thirds of the world’s people are governed by experiments in democracy, from republics to
direct democracies. Many of the experiments are degenerating because:
3
• the small proportion of society able to afford public election campaigns is decreasing, due to
the large and growing wealth gap
• the cost of using mass media for campaigns is high
• most voters are influenced by mass media, which is controlled by very few
Some experiments are becoming police states to cope with growing social problems, mainly
stemming from increasing poverty at home and abroad.
This change usually starts with increasing government powers of surveillance and law
enforcement, as well as reducing people’s legal rights.
WAYS to IMPROVE DEMOCRACY
Use legal rights to improve government: question, learn, inform, assemble, protest, vote, become
representatives in government, hold referendums, and conduct boycotts.
Improve government by conducting new experiments. Conduct them first at local levels, and
experiment in the most successful at higher levels. Poll the public about results, and publish poll
findings.
In some experiments, require term limits for more offices, increase the use of councils, and
increase the use of sortition (random selection from eligible candidates) to select representatives.
The world's first recorded democracy (Athenian) used sortition to have fairer representation in
government and to reduce influence by the rich and famous. Sortition was also used to select
jurors. In many modern democracies, jurors are still selected using sortition.
Use an executive council instead of a president. In ancient Athens, people knew that decision-
making by only one person (e.g., a president) is easily corrupted. So they used only councils.
Each council member served as chairperson for an equal time during the council’s term.
Since 1848 Switzerland has used a Federal Council (having seven members) for the executive
body of its federal government. Each member is elected to a four-year term by Parliament. A
"president" is elected to a one-year term and performs only ceremonial duties. An executive
council is also used by Bosnia-Herzegovina, Andorra, and San Marino.
LAWMAKING and SIN
Some government laws are based on morals. Many morals are based on definitions of sin. For
lawmaking use a secular definition (e.g., sin is needless harm done to others or self) instead of a
religious one (e.g., sin is a violation of the will of God).
4
IGNORANCE and ARROGANCE
Currently many are ignorant and arrogant, which harms them and society.
An ignorant person who is too proud to learn remains ignorant. When society has mostly
ignorant, arrogant people, it stops growing and then declines.
Promote curiosity, humility, and learning.
Improve the availability and affordability of all levels of education.
SOCIOPATHS
Avoid having sociopaths in elected and appointed offices of government.
1 in 100 people is a sociopath. Often they work in positions of authority in government, business,
and religion because they easily remain calm and decisive under pressure. They can do this
because they are unable to empathize (to understand and share feelings of others).
DANGER of WORLD GOVERNMENT
Protect freedom by avoiding religions advocating theocracy. Especially avoid those advocating
world government.
All governments have varying amounts of corruption. So consider having a very limited world
government (having much separation from religion) only after significantly reducing corruption
in local-to-national governments.
A world government corrupted into a tyranny would leave nowhere to escape.
IMPROVING QUALITY of LIFE
In industrialized nations, excessive consumption (of everything from fuels to foods) entails
polluting the earth, which now threatens quality of life for many.
The rapid growth of large populations also threatens quality of life. Much of this growth is due to
ideologies against birth control. Some is due to parents’ need to produce many children so that
enough survive high child mortality and can help the family.
World population has grown increasingly fast: 1 billion in 1804, 2b in 1927, 3b in 1959, 4b in
1974, 5b in 1987, 6b in 1999, 7b in 2011, and 8b in 2022.
5
Vast population growth increases poverty, which can increase: religious and racial tensions,
crime, disease, migration, terrorism, revolution, and war.
Impacts of poverty spread as globalization increases.
Large population growth benefits:
• governments gaining taxpayers
• religious organizations gaining contributors
• businesses gaining cheaper labor and bigger markets
• industries and banks profiting from violent conflict
Humanely control population growth by:
• increasing awareness of harm caused by overpopulation
• improving awareness, affordability, and availability of voluntary, preventive (contraceptive)
birth control
• reducing parents’ need to produce many children by improving healthcare and by increasing
opportunities for education and employment
SELF-COMMANDS

MAKING SELF-COMMANDS
Make healthy attitudes, emotions, and actions happen automatically by repeatedly storing,
recalling, and acting on self-commands.
To make effective self-commands:
• Use short, simple sentences to avoid confusion.
• Use phrases about things happening now, such as "I am," "I have," "I do," or "I feel." Avoid
using phrases about things happening later, such as "I should," "I will," or "I would."
• Mention healthy things that you want.
• Avoid mentioning unhealthy things that you don’t want and words about them, such as "avoid,"
"free" (from/of), "reject," or "stop."
• Avoid using unsure phrases, such as "I could" or "I might."
• Avoid using negating words such as "no" or "not," prefixes such as "dis," "non," or "un," and
suffixes such as "less," "free," or "out." If you use them, emphasize them; because it is easy to
overlook small things that change meanings of big things.
6
Use self-commands appropriately. Get medical help if you feel you need it or if others suggest
you need it.
STORING SELF-COMMANDS
To consciously store self-commands most effectively, be in an active mental state of using your
powers to: be fully aware (using many senses), question, analyze, understand, feel emotions, use
reason, express yourself, and take action; and repeatedly receive, store, and act on self-
commands. Repeatedly hear, see, read, write, say, and remember self-commands.
To subconsciously store self-commands most effectively, be in a passive state of using only
partial awareness (only seeing and/or hearing, such as when you watch TV or listen to radio
programs); and repeatedly receive and store self-commands, such as by listening to recordings of
them.
You can also receive self-commands at a subliminal level (slightly below sensory perception).
Listen to quiet audio recordings of self-commands while doing daily activities. Listen to very
quiet recordings while you sleep.
Sleeping while a TV or radio program plays will most effectively program you with its
commands. When you sleep, your mind freely receives audio input; it doesn't screen or resist any
of it. So before you sleep, turn off the TV and radio to avoid any unwanted programming.

They also impact every cell, emotion, and action of your being. Use thoughts to improve. • Seek and receive healthy thoughts. For example, be selective about television shows you watch and music you listen to. Avoid unhealthy ones, such as those that are sad, scary, angry, or violent. Also limit exposure to negative news, but be adequately informed. • Use healthy television shows and music as medicines. For example, watch funny shows to cheer up, and listen to healthy music to be uplifted, energized, or calmed. • Make healthy attitudes, emotions, and actions happen automatically by repeatedly storing, recalling, and acting on self-commands. At times avoid all thoughts of others for a while, and experience only your own thoughts. At times have focused thought or no thought, to help experience greater peace. You can use silence, meditation, and music to help produce those states of mind. Have the courage to question everything. Especially question entities that limit freedom to question. Think for yourself. Independently investigate. Have an open mind. Be able to consider something without necessarily accepting it. Learn from diverse sources. Assess them for any bias. Avoid entities that limit freedom to learn.
  • 2. 2 Promote love of learning. Society is mainly influenced by repeated thoughts from television, movies, radio, audio recordings, video games, and social media. Some of this causes excessive fear, which benefits some governments, some religions, some industries, and some banks. Some of it results in violence. Produce a more peaceful society by not watching violent shows and movies, not listening to pro- violence songs, and not playing violent video games. Collectively our thoughts impact our culture. Boycott anything having or promoting needless violence. IMPROVING GOVERNMENT CONTENTS • State of Democracies • Ways to Improve Democracy • Lawmaking and Sin • Ignorance and Arrogance • Sociopaths • Danger of World Government STATE of DEMOCRACIES Two-thirds of the world’s people are governed by experiments in democracy, from republics to direct democracies. Many of the experiments are degenerating because:
  • 3. 3 • the small proportion of society able to afford public election campaigns is decreasing, due to the large and growing wealth gap • the cost of using mass media for campaigns is high • most voters are influenced by mass media, which is controlled by very few Some experiments are becoming police states to cope with growing social problems, mainly stemming from increasing poverty at home and abroad. This change usually starts with increasing government powers of surveillance and law enforcement, as well as reducing people’s legal rights. WAYS to IMPROVE DEMOCRACY Use legal rights to improve government: question, learn, inform, assemble, protest, vote, become representatives in government, hold referendums, and conduct boycotts. Improve government by conducting new experiments. Conduct them first at local levels, and experiment in the most successful at higher levels. Poll the public about results, and publish poll findings. In some experiments, require term limits for more offices, increase the use of councils, and increase the use of sortition (random selection from eligible candidates) to select representatives. The world's first recorded democracy (Athenian) used sortition to have fairer representation in government and to reduce influence by the rich and famous. Sortition was also used to select jurors. In many modern democracies, jurors are still selected using sortition. Use an executive council instead of a president. In ancient Athens, people knew that decision- making by only one person (e.g., a president) is easily corrupted. So they used only councils. Each council member served as chairperson for an equal time during the council’s term. Since 1848 Switzerland has used a Federal Council (having seven members) for the executive body of its federal government. Each member is elected to a four-year term by Parliament. A "president" is elected to a one-year term and performs only ceremonial duties. An executive council is also used by Bosnia-Herzegovina, Andorra, and San Marino. LAWMAKING and SIN Some government laws are based on morals. Many morals are based on definitions of sin. For lawmaking use a secular definition (e.g., sin is needless harm done to others or self) instead of a religious one (e.g., sin is a violation of the will of God).
  • 4. 4 IGNORANCE and ARROGANCE Currently many are ignorant and arrogant, which harms them and society. An ignorant person who is too proud to learn remains ignorant. When society has mostly ignorant, arrogant people, it stops growing and then declines. Promote curiosity, humility, and learning. Improve the availability and affordability of all levels of education. SOCIOPATHS Avoid having sociopaths in elected and appointed offices of government. 1 in 100 people is a sociopath. Often they work in positions of authority in government, business, and religion because they easily remain calm and decisive under pressure. They can do this because they are unable to empathize (to understand and share feelings of others). DANGER of WORLD GOVERNMENT Protect freedom by avoiding religions advocating theocracy. Especially avoid those advocating world government. All governments have varying amounts of corruption. So consider having a very limited world government (having much separation from religion) only after significantly reducing corruption in local-to-national governments. A world government corrupted into a tyranny would leave nowhere to escape. IMPROVING QUALITY of LIFE In industrialized nations, excessive consumption (of everything from fuels to foods) entails polluting the earth, which now threatens quality of life for many. The rapid growth of large populations also threatens quality of life. Much of this growth is due to ideologies against birth control. Some is due to parents’ need to produce many children so that enough survive high child mortality and can help the family. World population has grown increasingly fast: 1 billion in 1804, 2b in 1927, 3b in 1959, 4b in 1974, 5b in 1987, 6b in 1999, 7b in 2011, and 8b in 2022.
  • 5. 5 Vast population growth increases poverty, which can increase: religious and racial tensions, crime, disease, migration, terrorism, revolution, and war. Impacts of poverty spread as globalization increases. Large population growth benefits: • governments gaining taxpayers • religious organizations gaining contributors • businesses gaining cheaper labor and bigger markets • industries and banks profiting from violent conflict Humanely control population growth by: • increasing awareness of harm caused by overpopulation • improving awareness, affordability, and availability of voluntary, preventive (contraceptive) birth control • reducing parents’ need to produce many children by improving healthcare and by increasing opportunities for education and employment SELF-COMMANDS CONTENTS • Making Self-Commands • Storing Self-Commands • Examples of Self-Commands MAKING SELF-COMMANDS Make healthy attitudes, emotions, and actions happen automatically by repeatedly storing, recalling, and acting on self-commands. To make effective self-commands: • Use short, simple sentences to avoid confusion. • Use phrases about things happening now, such as "I am," "I have," "I do," or "I feel." Avoid using phrases about things happening later, such as "I should," "I will," or "I would." • Mention healthy things that you want. • Avoid mentioning unhealthy things that you don’t want and words about them, such as "avoid," "free" (from/of), "reject," or "stop." • Avoid using unsure phrases, such as "I could" or "I might." • Avoid using negating words such as "no" or "not," prefixes such as "dis," "non," or "un," and suffixes such as "less," "free," or "out." If you use them, emphasize them; because it is easy to overlook small things that change meanings of big things.
  • 6. 6 Use self-commands appropriately. Get medical help if you feel you need it or if others suggest you need it. STORING SELF-COMMANDS To consciously store self-commands most effectively, be in an active mental state of using your powers to: be fully aware (using many senses), question, analyze, understand, feel emotions, use reason, express yourself, and take action; and repeatedly receive, store, and act on self- commands. Repeatedly hear, see, read, write, say, and remember self-commands. To subconsciously store self-commands most effectively, be in a passive state of using only partial awareness (only seeing and/or hearing, such as when you watch TV or listen to radio programs); and repeatedly receive and store self-commands, such as by listening to recordings of them. You can also receive self-commands at a subliminal level (slightly below sensory perception). Listen to quiet audio recordings of self-commands while doing daily activities. Listen to very quiet recordings while you sleep. Sleeping while a TV or radio program plays will most effectively program you with its commands. When you sleep, your mind freely receives audio input; it doesn't screen or resist any of it. So before you sleep, turn off the TV and radio to avoid any unwanted programming.
