2. Fibroma
(Benign tumor)

3. Diagnosis :
(Fibroma).
Comment :
1- Benign tumor arising from fibroblast.
2- The tumor is composed of 2 components :
a- Mature fibrous tissue.
b- Immature fibrous tissue that is called collagen in which
fibroblasts are seen.
3- The fibroblast is spindle shaped cells with elongated and tapered
end nuclei.

4. Leiomyoma
(Benign tumor)

5. Diagnosis :
(Leiomyoma).
Comment :
1- Benign tumor arising from smooth muscle cells.
2- The tumor is composed of interlacing smooth muscle fibers and fibrous tissue.
3- The smooth muscle fibers are arranged in bundles that show whorl appearance
and stained deeply pink with H&E stain while on other hand the fibrous tissue is
lightly pink.
4- The smooth muscle cell is cigar shaped with rod shaped nucleus while
the fibroblast cell that form fibrous tissue is spindle shaped with tapered end
nuclei.

6. Thyroid adenoma
(Benign tumor)

7. Diagnosis :
(Thyroid Adenoma).
Comment :
1- Adenoma is a benign tumor arising from glandular epithelium.
2- The tumor is composed of well formed acini or thyroid follicles
of varying sizes lined by normal looking follicular epithelium
(no mitoses or atypia is seen).
3- The follicles are distended with colloid.

8. Adenocarcinoma
(Malignant tumor)

9. Diagnosis :
(Adenocarcinoma).
Comment :
1- Malignant tumor arising from glandular epithelium
2- The tumor is composed of malignant acini of varying sizes and
shape, some of these acini are angulated and fused together.
3- The lining epithelium show signs of malignancy in the form of
pleomorhism, hyperchromatism, increase nuclear/cytoplasmic ratio,
prominent nucleolus, and abnormal mitoses.
