IMAGES Initiative aim to catalyze and help create transformational
partnerships to encourage actions that reflect an integrated
approach to the three pillars of Sustainable Development.
Vision
To provide policymakers, civil society, development agencies and
researchers with a comprehensive set of innovative approaches and
tested good practices around unlocking women and men’s great
potential in achievement of Sustainable Development Goals and
Africa Agenda 2063.
3. Circularity Africa 2020: Enabling
Circular Economy in AfricaAfrica
A circular economy is an economic
system of closed loops in which raw
materials, components and products
lose their value as little as possible,
renewable energy sources are used
and systems thinking is at the core.
Circularity Africa 2020 is organised by
IMAGES Initiative in collaboration with
recognised green businesses and networks
within and outside Africa. It promises to
be the largest science-policy-practice event
in 2020 which aims at catalysing green
businesses and circular economy for
sustainable development in Africa.

• It will inform and empower participants to turn circular
economy concept into profitable opportunities.

professional networking, mentoring sessions for start-ups,
awards of recognition, solutions-focused exhibitions as well as
opportunity for publication of research and policy-oriented
papers (in Special Issue of BSD published by Wiley).

the African Institute
of Leaders and
Leadership, Nairobi,
Kenya.

Dr Pauline Deutz
Pauline's research interests are
focused on the political and economic
aspects of environmental issues. Her
particular is the building, and
implications, of a Circular Economy
(i.e., maximising the value from
resources and minimising wastes). Her
research in this area includes multi-
disciplinary collaborations with
colleagues in environmental sciences,
chemical systems engineering, and
sustainable Development. She is the
