2. Introduction
• Human biology focuses on the aspects of biology most relevant to
humans, such as physiology, nutrition, anatomy and evolution.
• Human physiology is the science of the functioning of human
organs and the cells that compose them. Human physiology
studies the mechanical, physical, and biochemical functions that
determine the health of an individual.
• Nutrition studies how the body uses nutrients, and the
relationship between diet, health and disease.
• Anatomy is the study of the structure and relationship between
body parts. The body is made up of various different systems,
which needs to work well for optimum health.
• Biological evolution addresses how the human body has changed
over time when genetic inheritance is involved. Evolution covers
the similarities and differences between humans in their body
form, genes, behavior and physiology.
