3. Abstract:
Just look around, technology is all around us, we use it every aspect of our life. The
communication media connect the individuals from all over the globe. Usage of technology in
terms of communication media grows the popularity especially in the youth generation z. to
observe the effects of substitute media products on the youth, the case study was designed and by
using the sampling method, the sample of 50 youngsters was selected from the local town,
Karachi. By using analysis the result of the study opens up the fact that the communication
electronic media products act like some sort of dilemma in the mindset of the young mates.
Introduction:
Dilemma refers to the problem with no satisfactory solution or the way out. The social substitute
telecom products such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Whatsapp, YouTube, LinkedIn et cetera,
combine the people to convey the information but on the other side this is the most frustrating
aspect as well as it compel the users to stick to it more than ever before, continuously.
This media started right through the start of the 21st century. It affects the people with different
ages but specifically the young and the teen consumers. The media giants roaring the over the
top services at their will, controlling the mindsets of the users through the intelligent algorithms
designed by the media growth influencers and media official representatives. Well this study is
on the dark side of the use of media apart from the many positive aspects of the same item.
4. Literature Review:
Literation review provided the observation outcomes refers to the item and it helped to select the
exact aims and the methods for the item. It is being said that the Technology that connects us,
control us. Digital media had provided chances and opportunities enough to the generation but
there has to be something strange on the other side of the screen, there are many aspects of
privacy, security and personal protocols the users who is to answer for.
The berson and berson said like; the enough use of the internet refers to the enough linked risk
especially to the audience that has no awareness on the use of the same over the top substitute
products. These media services is being the main reason of the generation gap in many aspects of
the awareness of domestic ethics, lack of social information, how teenagers were responding to it
and what were their guardians perspective about what their pupils facing through.
This case study may sound strange in terms of the report making activity and topic selection, but
this item need some serious attention towards it refers to the youth and students. According to
the Forste; The media could result in bad impact on the grades of the students as quarter of them
use the media during the study time even in the group or class which has bad impact on the
results. It is being stated by Costin and Morris ‘there is a relation between the social applications
and the grades, those pupils having the low results spent their most time on social media
compared to the good grade students who were not into the social circle. These referred
statements evaluate that the electronic media behaves differently on the different users or
consumers, in our study we are to get familiarized about the impact of these media products on
the mindset of the young users.
Methodology:
Primary Data Source:
In this research, about 50 persons were selected as a simple random sampling from the local
urban town because the remote or rural areas still do not have such awareness about the various
uses of social circles as compared to the urban infrastructure, and the mindset of the urban
people are more likely to be familiarized about the norms and ethic of the over the top media
services, at some minor extent.
The questionnaire was designed to observe or collect the initial we can say primary data from the
sample bunch of 50 persons between the ages of 16 to 30. The questionnaire is designed on the
scaling, Likert Scale (Strongly Agree, Agree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree, there may be a
neutral option as well) was used. After the collection of the primary information, the
observational statistics were measured by analysis techniques.
5. Secondary Data Source:
The extra vital information has to be collected from the external sources from the internet, some
secondary information from the various open sources like the articles, journals, books and
documentaries. These external secondary sources are used to compare the primary data collected
already and to find out what are the points and aspects that are yet not known.
Result:
In this item, 50 persons (youngsters) have randomly picked for the collection of primary data.in
these fifty persons, 60% are with ages ranging from 16 to 20 years and 35% are from 20 to 24
years and the remaining 5% are older up to 30 years old. And if we talk about the gender
classification, we have 65% Male and 35% Female participants.

6. Discussion:
Responses of the each question/item are represented according the age groups in the Table 1.0.
The statistics ponder that out of the sample of 50 people, 30 participants with the ages from 16 to
20 years and the 20 participants from the age group of 21 and above responded to the
questionnaire, out of which the youth age group from 16-20 are more likely to be not aware
about the social norm and they are quite enjoying the joys of the over the top services provided
by the giants of the internet. In most of the questions they are in favor of these substitute media
products, but at the few questions that are seem to be more obvious facts open to the world that
cannot be ignored, the young participants disagree on that points as those given statements
cannot be agreed. So the teenagers we can say are on the center line perspective of the study
item.
If we ponder over statistics of the age group of 21 years and above, we shall observe that these
users or consumers, almost 70% Percent of them are in favor of the raised subject, obviously
they are in that process from the long time as compared to the teenagers. And they come to know
the facts and figures that are being going behind the reality screen as they go through the usage
and consumption of this subsidiary over the top services. When the time comes of the
statements/questions that clearly state the subject favor, the 70% of those 20 participants from 21
to 30 years respond without any hesitations in the favor of the item discussed in the
questionnaire. 11 of them strongly agree in favor and 6 of them agree the statements. While there
is no one in that category who strongly disagree which clearly reveals the impact of the social
media on the mindset of the youngsters and teenagers. And at an extent this issue leads to the
some serious drama and dilemma, but these extreme cases are very rare in our society. The
western societies are more likely to experience the extreme dilemma and frustrations.
