The Senior Project is subject to the plagiarism policies set forth by the district and Creekview High
School.
1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
I will be given an overview of the history of income taxes and the upcoming tax laws changes and
incorporate those changes with a preparation of an individual tax return.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
I have no previous experience in this area of study.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
I will connect this project to the career of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary.
I plan to prepare an individual tax return as my product. First, I must send out a tax package to the
individual. This package will request all the necessary information that will be used in the tax return.
Once this information is received I will set up a detailed client work paper. Then, I will use this
information to prepare a tax return using tax preparation software. Last, I will send the tax return
back to the individual client with a detailed set of filing instructions listing out exactly what needs to
be done to the tax return in order to get it ready to mail. All the confidential information on the tax
return and supporting details will be covered up so I am able to present my product at senior boards.
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
I am going to be faced with the challenge of preparing a tax return, as well as obtaining the
information on the steps I need to take to become a CPA.
6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?

2. If I need to purchase the tax software, TurboTax, which typically costs around $60. This is a software
my family uses to prepare our personal tax return so my mom said I could borrow it from her.
