About MOVE Journey at SCHAEFFLER Group
Zero Defect is the benchmark of Schaeffler Group. To achieve Zero-defect company
Schaeffler is having a comprehensive and innovative program at all production
locations throughout the world. This program is known as MOVE, the meaning of
MOVE at Schaeffler is “More Without Waste”. This MOVE journey has been started
before 10 years and every location have permanent MOVE academy who provides a
practical demonstration of various Lean principles.
Idea of MOVE Multiplier
As compared to the task force, the MOVE team members are less at all the
locations. Hence Schaeffler team has decided to develop internal members who can
be internal change agents within the department/group. In line with this idea MOVE
Multiplier scheme is launched in the organization. Under this scheme, all employees
can voluntarily participate in the process of selection of MOVE Multiplier. To
conceptualize this idea Schaeffler has partnered with Concept Business Excellence
Pvt. Ltd. CBEPL has designed MOVE multiplier evaluation criteria and also evaluate
the participants as per the decided criteria and method of evaluation.
The goal of MOVE Multiplier concept is a selection of interested employees who are
ready to become internal change agents and drive improvements by involving their
particular team members. Accordingly, Timeline of 1 year for the MOVE Multiplier
process is made with key milestones of Kickoff, Promotion, Registration,
Assessment, Qualification, Validation and Sustenance.

Engaging Employees and MOVE Multiplier Promotion
Entire MOVE Multiplier process is for the engagement of more and more people of
the organization, hence the pace of improvements in all processes can be increased
throughout the organization. To promote this activity Schaeffler has designed
posters and display them at prominent locations, also emails are sent to all the
concerns. The registration is voluntary i.e. each individual can nominate
himself/herself voluntarily. From all 4 locations, more than 500 nominations are
received to become a MOVE Multiplier.
Setting Evaluation Criteria for MOVE Multiplier
Schaeffler has decided to have MOVE Multiplier Selection & Evaluation process
through an independent agency, hence Concept Business Excellence Pvt. Ltd.
(CBEPL) is assigned to execute this process. The team of CBEPL has developed
Evaluation Criteria and consensus of Schaeffler has been taken on the same then the
evaluation criteria are finalized. The evaluation criteria are designed based on
various qualities required to become a MOVE Multiplier and these criterias are
knowledge about various concepts of Lean, Communication Skill, Passion, Creativity,
Respect for others, etc. Along with criteria CBEPL has developed the method of
evaluation.
MOVE Multiplier Evaluation Process Execution
Team Schaeffler has made location wise schedules for assessment. The evaluation
was carried out in 22 batches. Per batch, 2 hours evaluation time is allocated. To
make the evaluation process transparent both internal and external (CBEPL)
evaluators are allocated for each batch. The evaluation process is divided into 3
categories. These 3 categories are Personal Introduction, Group Discussion, and
Quiz Paper.
Results & Conclusion
Batch wise final evaluation score sheet is made and all batches’ score sheet is
combined. Accordingly, MOVE Multipliers are selected. The entire process of MOVE
Multiplier selection is completed as per decided timeline and schedule.

The next goal of this entire process is to develop the skill of MOVE Multipliers in
selected improvement topics by the participants. Accordingly, Schaeffler has started
the journey to develop departmental internal change agents.
This was the good learning experience for both Schaeffler India and Concept
Business Excellence Pvt. Ltd.
