The document describes two potential story ideas. The first is about a nameless narrator living in a dystopian future where individuals have no freedom and are constantly monitored. He questions his reality until meeting a man named Friedrich who asks what the outside world is really like. The second story is set in 1984 Afghanistan and follows a Soviet private who defects after witnessing his comrades abandoned and a general collaborating with the enemy. It describes a proposed intense opening scene involving helicopters being shot down.
2. Story idea 1
Just another mindless drone who is a narrator who thinks he’s special and unique just like everyone else
wakes up to the sound of a world government health official waking up everyone on European Area 2,
which was called long ago “Germany”. The drones then called humans are told to put on the mandatory
gas masks and they start exercising; push ups, sit ups, touching their toes while the narrator who is the
main character is trying to remember what day it is, what hour, what did he do yesterday. He has a hard
time trying to recall what he did that day as he has insomnia, he’s never really awake nor is he asleep. This
is a world disconnected from reality, every building is missing a window, the only window into the world is
the telescreen which can never be turned off. This is a world which as they’ve been told underwent nuclear
war and its atmosphere is filled with deadly radiation. It is a world without borders under a world
government. People like the narrator go to work via bright underground tunnels. Everything is clean, the
clothes all people wear are white and clean. Everyone and everything is obsessed with cleanliness. To enter
his endless office job he has to have such clean hands that they shine, he must have a gas mask at all
times, he needs to change shoes every time he enters a new room. Everyone drinks the same branded
coffee, eats the same single serving food; Monday, this, Tuesday that, next Monday this again etc. The
narrator keeps seeing the girl he likes, brown haired, always smiling, simply perfect. He feels much hatred
towards her since he thinks he will never be together with her in the state that he is in. Then, all of a
sudden, a calm and playful voice is heard behind him: “Have you ever wondered what’s above this tunnel,
beyond these building’s, what the world look’s like?” The nameless narrator turns around and sees a fit
young man who is wearing dirty black pants, dirty red dress shoes, a dirty leather jacket and messed up
spiky hair. His name is Friedrich Weber.
3. Film opening sequence
The narrator is in total darkness in a cold concrete room. He is in the unknown.
Then, a calm raspy voice calls out from an unknown location and a candle
slowly lights up. I reveals a suited old man sitting in an old armchair smoking
his pipe in the corner of the room. “Tell me, what do you think is outside these
walls? Is it day or night? Is there such a thing as day or night? Will you be
stunned by the worlds natural beauty, or scarred by its ruthless and
unforgiving nuclear nature as you’ve been told your entire life? Are you really
protected, or are you enslaved? Tell me, what do you think the world looks
like?”. A sound is heard behind the narrator, one that’s creaking like a door.
But it’s not, it is a rectangular hole in the wall above his feet, it is something
from his childhood that was called a window. He looks through, but sees
nothing but darkness, and again he is surrounded by darkness. And in a flash
he is striked by light above his head bringing him into reality.
4. Pros and cons
Pros: Amazing, Intellectual, Genius, Masterpiece
Cons: Hard to film
5. Story idea 2
1984, Afghanistan. After witnessing his comrades abandoned by the Soviet
high command, a private and his friends hijack a helicopter to help the
surrounded forces against orders. However, the helicopter is shot down
and everyone is either dead or dying, one of his best friends even pulling
the pin and sacrificing himself to kill a few afghan jihadists that were about
to finish him off. The private escapes and heads towards the surrounded
village to see what is going on, but he is too late as they lie dead in the
street in a sandstorm when the private first discovers them, he keeps going
and sees the village burning. He discovers the general in charge of that
position friendly and shaking hands with the jihadists as they exchange
info while his men lie dead below him. This was done to obtain info about
the other factions for the soviet high command. Horrified at this, he
decides to build a private army and defect from the Soviet Union, and is in
pursuit to capture the general and take his revenge.
6. Film opening sequence
The opening shot is a moving shot of a river from a top down view, then points up to see the Aghan landscape of
Afghanistan, a helicopter passes directly overhead of the camera and is going forward, the second shot is a tracking shot
of the helicopter from the side as opening credits of the film are presented on the left. The next shot fades to the camera
in front of a helicopter window from the outside from the side of the heli, showing a shadowy figure on the other side,
and zooms in and enters the heli to reveal a soviet soldier worryingly staring in the distance while another one smokes
from the other side with his back towards the camera. A speech begins explaining what is going on while the camera turn
90 degrees showing another soldier sitting and scraping his handle of a pistol with a knife. While the speech goes on, the
shot of a destroyed convoy down below while the heli appears and goes directly over the camera. The next shot is again
in the heli closing up to the cockpit and reveals who was speaking with him turning around and a close up of his face
along with his name is presented on the screen. The camera does a 180 turn back to the soldier with his back turned
smoking and looking outside the window. The commander comes up to him, puts his hand on his shoulder and asks if he
can trust him with the mission as he hasn’t been active in a while, the commander and this soldier know each other well.
“You know I trust you more than anyone to lead my men, they were getting pissed for being held back from avenging
their comrades”, the mysterious soldier turns around and responds “Kept you waiting, huh?”, along with his name being
presented. “Let’s not disappoint them” and light shines on their faces and they glance to the right, the camera turns 90
degrees to show a bright window with the worried soldier next to it. The squad leader goes opens the doors to reveal the
sun rising. “Sunrise”, the camera then follows the heli with a few other helis in the background with the heli on the left and
the sunrise on the top right, as opening credits continue on the bottom right. The camera then follows the soldier that
was sitting standing up and attaching a rope to the heli, and then sitting down. The helicopters stop above a landing spot
and the rope is dropped, and they drop down. Before the squad leader drops down, he is stopped by the commander
who exclaims “Save them.”, the squad leader nods and is and jumps. As soon as he jumps the music already built up to a
climax but instead an RPG strikes the heli and he hangs on to the rope for dear life as the helicopters spins chaotically and
eventually crashes with the screen going black as it does and in the middle the Directors name is revealed.
