This document discusses two prototypes for an app to help job seekers manage the recruitment process:
Prototype 1 uses a stage-based approach to guide users on applying for jobs, preparing for interviews, and getting help. It allows users to create company profiles to store information.
Prototype 2 takes a calendar-based approach with automated reminders and tips linked to educational content. It provides sample reminders and tips counting down to interviews. Feedback is provided on what aspects worked well or could be improved for both prototypes, as well as questions and additional ideas.

Manage Recruiter Demands
1. PROBLEM
STATEMENT
…who needs a better
way to manage the
time demands of
recruiters because this
would remove the
stress from the
process and allow the
preparation needed
for best performance
LISA...
...is a fulltime student
in her final year of
University. She gets
very good grades and
is highly motivated
and doesn’t want to
follow the same
career path as her
fellow students
2. Prototype 1
This prototype idea seeks to place job seekers in one of three stages of the process – decide what jobs to apply for; get ready for interviews; or help out if
interviews are already underway. In the case where a seeker knows which companies they’ll apply for, the app offers them the chance to build a central file for
each company that they can use to store all relevant information and dates, along with providing reminders and educational materials.
5. Prototype 2
Qantas interview in
4 weeks – start your
research this week
This prototype seeks to use a calendar metaphor to guide job seekers through their interview process. All they need do is enter the key end dates – eg: first
interview, second interview) and the app will provide automated reminders and tips each week in the lead up to that event. Each tip will link through to
educational content to help them perform better when they interview.
7. Interview tips
1. Plan to arrive early, but only ask to be
paged just before the scheduled time.
2. Take notes with you – it’s not an exam!
3. Etc

got transport covered

Prototype 2
10. + What worked
Prompting to do the research
Getting tips is good
The idea of being able to store everything in a single
folder
Kept simple – easy for it to be to daunting if made more
complex
Improved
Needs to be across all platforms not just phone.
Be able to use this app to make notes during the
interview as well as store them prior
? Questions
Does the calendar function sync with your other
calendars?
! Ideas
Give the tips earlier in the process
Make sure the tips are country/culture specific –
sometimes different countries have different interview
expectations
Provide lots of educational material eg: negotiation skills;
recruitment process
Be able top connect with recent placed grads in the
organisation to get ‘inside info’/tips on process
Prototype 1
11. + What worked
Very easy
Good that you can click through whenever you want more
information about a task
Improved
Don’t leave anything out (see ? Below re: rehearsing)
Be able to store documents/information (more like the
first idea)
? Questions
Does this cover off everything involved in the interview
process? Eg: importance of practicing and rehearsing
Would this work for medical grads who might only have
one or two employment options and a different
recruitment path?
! Ideas
Be able to access documents relevant to the role
Include a ‘to-do’ list that you can tick off – things that
aren’t ticked off generate a reminder.
Prototype 2 – Calendar based
