1. To Whom It May Concern:
It is without a doubt in my mind that I recommend Nick Klein to you. As a Director of
Training for DECA U Guelph’s chapter, I have had the honour of mentoring many students as
they commence/continue their journey to becoming business professionals. However,
immediately after mentoring Nick for the first time, I noticed one thing in him that others lacked:
appreciation for communication. While providing feedback to every aspiring professional is a
requirement to the position, Nick’s communication came in the form of requests and questions
regarding areas of weakness and the best measures to improve them. His active engagement to the
constructive feedback that was provided allowed him to shine through the crowd and truly stand
out as a strong competitor.
Due to his engagement, his growth was astronomical. After each and every mentoring
session I had with Nick, his passion to improve upon his skills was always present. His dedication
to training, and his understanding of the skills that it supplied him, left me feeling truly rewarded
in my position. His transferability of skills was immaculate; he could pass the same skills through
every case, regardless of how different the situations were. His team dynamic with his partner
grew into such synergy that it became unparalleled to other competing teams. While his skills and
knowledge were important for each case, his communication with his partner was paramount to
his success.
More important than knowledge, and by far Nick’s strongest trait, is his personality. He
showed respect for every delegate, whether they were executive members or not. He did not once
invalidate a delegate’s opinion, no matter how dissonant it was to his own, but rather took the
opportunity to gain insight that he may not have previously had. Nick’s ability to truly listen to
others, including his partner, allowed him to flourish, as he became one of the top delegates for
our chapter. I cannot stress how crucial it is to have this skill as a business professional, and Nick
demonstrates it effortlessly in all that he does.
Nick’s skills will be applicable to any and every success that he pursues. Where his
charisma commands attention, his knowledge commands respect. His understanding both of
materials and of other individuals only furthers the truth of the matter; that Nick is a strong team
member. Should you need any further proof of Nick’s character, I urge you to contact me
personally through my mobile phone at 905 269 5138, or through my email address at
