8. A brief description of admission to higher
education in Turkey – Flight Training admission
• Student Selection and Placement
System (Turkish: Öğrenci Seçme ve
Yerleştirme Sistemi, ÖSYS) or Higher
Education Foundations
Examination (Turkish: Yükseköğreti
m Kurumları Sınavı, YKS), is a
standardized test for the admission
to higher education in Turkey [1].
Within the Turkish education
system, the only way to enter
a university is through this
examination. 2.4 million high
school graduates took the exam in
2021 [2].

25. All these visionarythinkingandplanning efforts as well as the infrastructure and equipment capabilities of ESTU in civil aviation has led to build up
of a strong operational experience andto intensify aviation knowledgeandmanagementskills under an academicdiscipline. It should also be noted
that these gains and achievements promote research studies in to a muchhigher level. In this sense, the main research topics currently studied or
the ones having potential to be explored, by the ESTU in the civil aviation areainvolve a number of multi-disciplinary as well as innovativeconcepts.
These concepts canbriefly be listed as follows:
26
• Airspace Capacity/Delay Modelling and
Optimization
• Flight Efficiency,Flight Procedures (Continuous
Descent Approach/Operations)
• UAVs andVertical Aviation (Design, Propulsion,
Control, Battery System, Integration into AirTraffic
Management System)
• More Electrical Aircraft, Electric/Hybrid Propulsion
• Climate neutral aviation, Environmental Impact of
Commercial and General Aviation Aircraft

vehicles and mobile robots. The desired vehicle can also be modeled
using a 3D simulation environment Gazebo that can work
compatible with the ROS platform, existing models can be
customized and various tasks can be performed.
• The environment created in the ROS‐Gazebo environment, which
includes an aerial vehicle and/or ground robot, can be run with code
