1. What I have learnt from ‘mapping’
The task was to watch three opening sequences and I had to map out fromthe
start to the finish about what the you see that is important and is significance to
what the full length movie will be about. There are around 25 to 30 title credits
which appear majority of opening sequences.
 Establishing shot is mostly shown at the beginning
 The title of the film and release date is towards the end
 3-8 actors starring in the film
 The main actors names will appear
 Production company
 Black screen at the start and end
 Few sequences shown
Movie opening sequences are important because it advertisements the film which
will be released within a week or months’ time forpublic viewing. The trailer is
made in order to make the public be aware of what they will expect from the film
and make them curious to see it. Most sequences shown have been taken out
from the original movie, so that the public know what scenes that they are
expecting to see. The 3 opening sequences that I analysed all included short shots
from the movie.
