It uses non linear editing to show action scenes from various parts of the film to keep the amount of action shown as high as possible to keep the target audience entertained and wanting to see the film to see all the action as it appeals to them. The dialogue is kept to a minimum to appeal to the target audience by keeping the pace of the trailer very high to appeal to the audience. The opening of the trailer starts slow setting the scene and showing all the key stars to appeal to a wider range of audience then the pace increases as the action builds up. Black screens in-between shots raises the tension in the audience and keeps them on the edge of their seat as the shots are being delayed. The black screens also allow the trailer to seamlessly change scenes and settings and also show non linear shots without the audience knowing.
2. What details does it convey to the audience about the film? It conveys to the audience that the film is going to be from the action genre due to lots of explosions, shooting and car chases. It also conveys that the film is a Hollywood blockbuster due to all the big actors/actresses that are in the film. The USP of MI4 is the fact that it is the follow up to the original 3 films that were very successful and appealed to lots of people and people will go on the basis of how good the original 3 are. The intended audience for MI4 is predominantly males however some females may want to watch it due to Tom Cruise starring in the film. It is also aimed for 16-35 year olds because the action appeals to that age range.
