1. TITLE: SVT/PV Engineer 1B
LOCATION: Ciena India R&D
REPORTS TO: Senior Manager – SVT/PV
POSITION SUMMARY
Successful candidate will be responsible for developing system solution test plans and procedures, and execute
system level testing of Ciena’s Packet Optical Transport products with a focus on Layer2 ,Packet & MPLS
based solutions. Requirements include Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or
Optical Communications with 2+ years of experience in production and systems test roles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 Development and execution of system solution test plans/cases in some or all of the following areas: Layer2
feature areas, IP/MPLS, packet-optical solution (Packet over OTN).
 Confer with hardware and software engineering personnel to resolve problems related to specifications and
associated test plans/procedures.
 Analyze test results and prepare test reports.
SKILLS
 Expertise in L2 technologies or MPLS .
 MS or BS CS/EE 2+ years of experience
 Fluency and experience in data communication systems, networking, Ethernet switches, and real world
topologies in general.
 Ability to develop test plans, procedures, acceptance and regression tests from functional specifications and
system requirements
 L2/L3 protocol knowledge for few of them :
o MPLS (LER/LSR),MPLS-TP,(L2VPN-VPLS),GMPLS
o IGMP,IPv6
o OSPF/ISIS
o 802.1q (VLAN)
o 802.1p(User Priority) w/L2 QOS-CoS
o 802.1ag(CFM)
o LACP
o LAG
o Other L2 Features – Auto-negotiation ,Flow Control, Port mirroring, Ethernet Ring protocols
(RAPS), STP, RSTP
 Experience with traffic generators such as Ixia, Spirent, Shenick (DiversifEye) and Agilent N2X for simulating
real-world scenarios including conformance, performance, and scalability testing for Carrier Ethernet
features.
 Hands-on experience with large L2/L3 topologies.
 Ability to resolve complex issues and adequately document test progress and results to provide
weekly/monthly/annual metrics.
 Knowledge of basic software test processes.
 Proficient with a wide range of test equipment.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

2.  Bachelors or Masters in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Optical Communications or relevant work
experience.
 2+ years of experience in production and systems test.
