Malaysian society in applying good values and the spirit of love for the country
1. Introduction
Malaysia is well known for its plural society and living in a multiracial group. This
harmony has proven that Malaysians have unity in living under the same roof. This
unification has also created the well-being and freedom of religion, the way of life and
intercourse among the races found in Malaysia. In appreciating the enjoyment of today,
Malaysians, especially the younger generation, are less likely to practice good values and
thus have a sense of love for their own country. This can be seen through the transmission of
various unhealthy activities among the younger generation towards their own country such as
disrespecting national anthems, raising racial issues and so on. As mentioned by Khairul
Anuar Shamsudin, Jessica Ong Hai Liaw and Ahmad Azan Ridzuan (2015), the transmission
of incorrect issues related to racial sensitivity and so on through the use of technology has
worsened the situation, but also various other issues such as social polarization, also tolerance
of religion has also been exploited and led to the emergence of ethnic conflicts. Hence,
discussions on Malaysian society in applying good values and the spirit of love for the
country will be peeled in the appropriate context.
2. The good value and spirit of love for country
In maintaining prosperity and harmony today, the people in Malaysia have made the
Rukun Negara a guide and hold in their lives. In fact, the elements contained therein are
termed in every religion such as the need for mutual respect, affection for the people and
practice tolerance in life. In line with that, the application of good values and the spirit of
love for the land should be nurtured from every generation so that today's independence can
be maintained.
2
2.1. Definition of good value
According to Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye (2017), the behavior and attitude of
Malaysian society has now made the values and ethics of politeness practiced since
ancestors as a way of life. In fact, various campaigns and programs have helped to
foster good and noble values among Malaysians. However, good values such as
politeness, patience, humility, respect and tolerance are less practicable in the
Malaysian society, especially the younger generation. Pure values can be defined as a
good treatment, civilization and humanitarian relationships in relation to humanity,
nature and God. Meanwhile, according to Anita Abu Hassan, Mohd Isa Hamzah and
Mohd Mahzan Awang (2014), pure values are a detailed practice or behavior in
human life, for example it encompasses positive values and characterizes the
civilization that leads to culture and dignity in life a society. It is not only learned but
it must be understood in forming one's character and integrity.
2.2. Definition of the spirit of love for the country
The Malaysian community through religious beliefs has been suggested to
defend and love the homeland so that inter-racial unity can be sown. Hence, it is the
responsibility of every individual in Malaysia to prove that the progress of the
country in various fields, whether social, economic, political, religious, cultural,
literary, educational, and so on can be achieved with the spirit of love for the nation.
As stated by Sitti Hasnah Bandu, Abdul Razaq Ahmad and Mohd Mahzan Awang
(2015), the spirit of love for the country or patriotism is important in the formation of
a society in the country. For example, previous history has proven that this spirit of
patriotism has helped previous fighters rise and defend the state from colonial power.
This practice of patriotism has become the practice of every generation for the
continuity of the nation's progress and development
.
3
2.3. Young Generation Role
The younger generation is a clout to the previous generation and is a
determinant of the direction of a country. If the younger generation is not sown with
good and noble values, then a country will be pawned and re-colonized. According to
Zambri Mohd Isa (2018), the younger generation is 15 years old and up to 39 years
old and the number of younger generation in Malaysia in 2017 is over 14.5 million.
The young generation who are strong and steadfast in their stand and have critical
and critical thinking are important to ensure that there are strong and powerful pillars
in leading the country forward in the future. Therefore, the people in Malaysia need
to understand that the younger generation has undergone a change in the aspect of
civilization where, for example they no longer practiced the practice and ethics of
pure values in life but rather their own life.
3. The importance of nurturing good value and spirit of love for country
The Malaysian society, especially the younger generation, is an important part of a
nation because today's younger generation needs to face the challenges of an indefinite period
of modernity demanding change in the form of life. In this regard, the importance of
cultivating good and good values and the spirit of love for the country within the Malaysian
society will be described in the perspective of the role of learning, the role of the media and
the role of society.
3.1. Role of Educational Institutions
The spirit of patriotism and love for the nation is not easy to be born in an
individual but it must be nurtured and embedded in oneself since childhood so that
the souls of the younger generation will be in harmony with that feeling. As such, the
role of educational institutions in shaping the identity of the younger generation is
undeniable as educators are the closest individuals to this generation. Subadrah
Madhawa Nair and Rajeswary P. Sinasamy (2017), in the modern era of modernity,
the younger generation, especially students, lack the spirit of patriotism as they are
4
less interested in understanding the history seen to enhance the patriotism of the
students. For example, this formation not only involves themselves but teaches the
true meaning of life as an independent people. This is something very important
especially in the light of the young generation because they need to realize that the
peace and prosperity of the country they harbor today does not come for free.
3.2. Media Role
The present generation is increasingly influenced by the media as a result of
the ever-expanding transmission of technology in every life. Young generation and
technology are increasingly inseparable; the younger generation is now just
communicating and socializing through more than real-world technology. The role of
the media is seen to be able to impart the mind and guide the young especially in the
presentation of facts and truths. According to Daria Omelchenko, Svetlana
Maximova, Galina Avdeeva, Natalia Goncharova, Oksana Noyanzina and Olga
Surtaeva (2014), patriotism is a form of self-reliance based on love and service for
the sake of the homeland, the integrity and sovereignty of the nation based on
national security sustainable, responsible and obliged in prioritizing the community
as well as in the domestic interest in personal intentions. In essence, the media plays
a role in shaping the socialism of the younger generation as well as fostering
patriotism in itself through the dissemination of information that is based on the
harmony of the nation as an example.
3.3. The Role of the Society
The spirit of patriotism has worsened in the society in Malaysia because of the
lack of awareness of the importance of cultivating this spirit in itself. Today's society
is concerned only with income sources rather than thinking about maintaining and
maintaining its own homeland. In fact, assuming that the task of defending the
homeland should be borne by the security forces to ensure the peace and prosperity
of the nation is an irresponsible act because as a Malaysian, this task should be
carried by every individual regardless of background and rank. According to
5
Francoise Dauce, Anne Le Huerou and Kathy Rousselet (2013), people must
understand the meaning of patriotism as a sense of love and affection and the
country's sense of belonging. The persistence that comes from the role of patriotism
as a supplier of unity in the national group on behalf of a country thus promotes
respect for civic obligations in a society.
4. Challenges to nurture good value and spirit of love for country
For some Malaysians seemingly ignoring peace keeping, they care about national
dignity and harmony that there are those who dared to set aside the blame when speaking and
the story of religious and racial sensitivities. The issue raised is often associated with
disturbance and disorder in the value system at this time mainly due to the influence of social
media in today's digital era. In fact, the younger generation who are increasingly enjoying the
instant environment and the urgency are much encouraged by what is happening in their
environment that causes various parties to compete in the situation. Hence, various parties are
advised to double their role by empowering volunteerism as well as becoming agents of
change in society.
4.1. Influence of environment
To have the spirit of love for the nation and the application of noble values
should be created with an understanding of the historical values that exist in the
environment. History in the Malaysian society inherited from ancestors contains
facts, dates and figures that are relevant to the country, the origins of society, the
formation of nations, colonization and independence. As stated by Dr. Aminudin
Mansor (2015), people are often raised by certain parties on issues related to religion,
education, economics, literature, social, cultural and historical in the hope that the
community will be easily affected by the environment. For example, racial issues
regarding rights and equality. Therefore, the younger generation must first
understand and appreciate the history of the country to shape and educate the spirit of
patriotism among themselves. National history is important to be understood and
treated as an effort towards the development of independent nations.
6
4.2. Less sensitivity by society today
Every society that loves the nation will think and reflect upon the struggles
that have been passed by the previous masters. Achieving independence is not an
easy issue as the ancestors experienced. On the spirit of unity and patriotism has
produced human beings who seek to demand justice and independence to break down
colonial traditions on the administration and development of their own country. As
stated by Ali Altikulac (2016), the values found in the behavior and attitudes of
individuals or communities are influenced by their own level of consciousness.
Where, for example, have values such as being respected, appreciated and admired in
terms of the ability to achieve something and the action in protecting is also a
comparison to another matter and act based on its nature.
4.3. Less exposure by various parties
Mohd Mahadee Ismail, Azlina Abdullah, Mansor Mohd Noor and Noranizah
Hafizah Boyman (2016) have argued that, in maintaining harmony and well-being in
society should be the main agenda by various parties. As is known, a country is
formed by the existence of the land, society, independence, sovereignty, borders and
self-established laws. If certain parties are only looking at the advantages and less
awareness of the importance of nurturing pure values and the spirit of love for the
country, then the Malaysian society will be less aware of the importance of defending
the country itself from the colony either in the form of technology or profit offering
by some parties. For example, the spread of western cultures that is not compatible
with the culture and norms of the lives of the people in Malaysia such as free
association between men and women, unreasonable challenges and so forth.
7
5. Suggestion for creating a good value and the spirit of love for the country
The consciousness of all parties in the interest of nurturing the noble values and the
spirit of love for the country is important to defend our own country. Therefore, various
quarters are urged to find a suitable approach in approaching the society, especially the
younger generation today to inculcate good values and ethics within themselves. If this is
possible, various unhealthy problems and activities can be contained. The transmission of
unhealthy and ineffective activities arises from lack of awareness and exposure by various
parties to the younger generation today. Therefore, in ensuring that the younger generation
today can be born as a state coaster sometime later, some suggestions are hopefully helpful
for the purpose of improving existing programs or systems.
5.1. Expand the program of patriotism
The government in collaboration with the local media should seek a more
strategic approach in building relationships between the community and the younger
generation. This is because; the younger generation is easily influenced by mass
media and digital media without thinking about the information received is true or
false. An approach in filtering every uploaded information should be monitored by
some parties so that today's younger generation will not be affected by any
information received. For example, the issue of the celebration of independence
where some readers especially the younger generation easily threw comments
suggesting that they did not appreciate the sacrifice of ancestral struggles. In
addition, various programs need to be created so that the injection of pure values can
be applied in the younger generation.
5.2. The role of Parents, Communities and Education Institutions
Parents are individuals who are closest to this young generation, but the
behavior of parents will affects the attitude of this generation. Therefore, it is
important for every parent to cultivate the noble values and the spirit of love for the
nation in this young generation to ensure that these values continue to remain until
8
they become mature. Furthermore, the community is an observer of every movement
of the younger generation who can act as a source of reference to them. In view of
this, society needs to accept the younger generation by forming harmonious
relationships in a good environment. Meanwhile, the role of the learning institution is
to ensure the formation of the identity of the younger generation continues to be
coupled with the value that coincides with the lives of the people in Malaysia.
Inheriting the practices held by the older generation can create a generation that
always cares for unity and harmony in society. For example, an individual who has
been applied to pure attitudes and attitudes will maintain that behavior until adult and
inherit it to the next generation.
5.3. Exposure to the history of independence to the younger generation
History teaches the meaning of sacrifice and the pain in achieving something
of success. History is also an experience of individuals or groups of individuals who
have achieved success. Similarly, the sacrifice of ancestors in achieving the meaning
of independence that the community needs to cherish after independence, especially
the younger generation. The importance of appreciating and understanding the
history of the formation of a nation can teach the meaning of being grateful for being
able to enjoy a peaceful and peaceful life without being colonized by a particular
party. Consequently, the history of independence needs to be taken into account by
any party concerned with harmony and well-being by providing programs and
mediums to convey the implied and explicit intentions that are in the historical fold.
For example, the younger generation needs to know the hardships and the dangers of
achieving independence by attracting them to the re-acting programs and so forth.
6. Conclusion
The discussion on the Malaysian society in applying the noble values and the spirit of
love for the country has been described in its own unique perspective where every issue
covered is emphasizing the meaning of patriotism and noble values to the people in Malaysia
especially the younger generation. In the context of nurturing pure values and the spirit of
9
love the country has seen from the aspect of the definition of pure values, the definition of the
spirit of love for the country as well as the role of the younger generation. This is because
purely values are always related to the spirit of patriotism and will indirectly affect the
younger generation in defending the sovereignty and dignity of the nation. Furthermore, in
the interest of nurturing pure values and the spirit of love of the nation has been described
based on the role of learning institutions as developing the personality of the younger
generation, especially the students and the role of the media capable of acting by providing a
program of patriotism. Whereas the role of society is to shape and guide the younger
generation towards the better.
The challenge in cultivating pure values and the spirit of love for the country is also
viewed from the aspect of the influence of the environment in which the younger generation
is seen to be less involved in engaging in patriotism activities. The lack of sensitivity by
today's society is associated with a variety of issues that can attract some unhappy people.
There is less exposure by various parties to the younger generation on the importance of
appreciating the sacrifices of previous fighters who are always working to achieve
independence today. Whereas, the proposals provided are by extending patriotism programs.
Furthermore, parents, communities and learning institutions need to play their part in order
for the younger generation to be saturated with pure values and to practice in community life.
The last is the exposure of the history of independence to the younger generation by applying
the appropriate approach to creating a sense of responsibility for defending the beloved
homeland. Each individual has a responsibility to ensure the culture and customs that are
practiced continue to be preserved. Likewise with the pure values and the spirit of love for
the country. Its fading taste will lead to a sense of responsibility to protect the country and
mutual respect will not exist within each individual. Harmony and well-being will give a
sense of trust and strength to continue to respect each other.

  • 2. 1 Malaysian society in applying good values and the spirit of love for the country 1. Introduction Malaysia is well known for its plural society and living in a multiracial group. This harmony has proven that Malaysians have unity in living under the same roof. This unification has also created the well-being and freedom of religion, the way of life and intercourse among the races found in Malaysia. In appreciating the enjoyment of today, Malaysians, especially the younger generation, are less likely to practice good values and thus have a sense of love for their own country. This can be seen through the transmission of various unhealthy activities among the younger generation towards their own country such as disrespecting national anthems, raising racial issues and so on. As mentioned by Khairul Anuar Shamsudin, Jessica Ong Hai Liaw and Ahmad Azan Ridzuan (2015), the transmission of incorrect issues related to racial sensitivity and so on through the use of technology has worsened the situation, but also various other issues such as social polarization, also tolerance of religion has also been exploited and led to the emergence of ethnic conflicts. Hence, discussions on Malaysian society in applying good values and the spirit of love for the country will be peeled in the appropriate context. 2. The good value and spirit of love for country In maintaining prosperity and harmony today, the people in Malaysia have made the Rukun Negara a guide and hold in their lives. In fact, the elements contained therein are termed in every religion such as the need for mutual respect, affection for the people and practice tolerance in life. In line with that, the application of good values and the spirit of love for the land should be nurtured from every generation so that today's independence can be maintained.
  • 3. 2 2.1. Definition of good value According to Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye (2017), the behavior and attitude of Malaysian society has now made the values and ethics of politeness practiced since ancestors as a way of life. In fact, various campaigns and programs have helped to foster good and noble values among Malaysians. However, good values such as politeness, patience, humility, respect and tolerance are less practicable in the Malaysian society, especially the younger generation. Pure values can be defined as a good treatment, civilization and humanitarian relationships in relation to humanity, nature and God. Meanwhile, according to Anita Abu Hassan, Mohd Isa Hamzah and Mohd Mahzan Awang (2014), pure values are a detailed practice or behavior in human life, for example it encompasses positive values and characterizes the civilization that leads to culture and dignity in life a society. It is not only learned but it must be understood in forming one's character and integrity. 2.2. Definition of the spirit of love for the country The Malaysian community through religious beliefs has been suggested to defend and love the homeland so that inter-racial unity can be sown. Hence, it is the responsibility of every individual in Malaysia to prove that the progress of the country in various fields, whether social, economic, political, religious, cultural, literary, educational, and so on can be achieved with the spirit of love for the nation. As stated by Sitti Hasnah Bandu, Abdul Razaq Ahmad and Mohd Mahzan Awang (2015), the spirit of love for the country or patriotism is important in the formation of a society in the country. For example, previous history has proven that this spirit of patriotism has helped previous fighters rise and defend the state from colonial power. This practice of patriotism has become the practice of every generation for the continuity of the nation's progress and development .
  • 4. 3 2.3. Young Generation Role The younger generation is a clout to the previous generation and is a determinant of the direction of a country. If the younger generation is not sown with good and noble values, then a country will be pawned and re-colonized. According to Zambri Mohd Isa (2018), the younger generation is 15 years old and up to 39 years old and the number of younger generation in Malaysia in 2017 is over 14.5 million. The young generation who are strong and steadfast in their stand and have critical and critical thinking are important to ensure that there are strong and powerful pillars in leading the country forward in the future. Therefore, the people in Malaysia need to understand that the younger generation has undergone a change in the aspect of civilization where, for example they no longer practiced the practice and ethics of pure values in life but rather their own life. 3. The importance of nurturing good value and spirit of love for country The Malaysian society, especially the younger generation, is an important part of a nation because today's younger generation needs to face the challenges of an indefinite period of modernity demanding change in the form of life. In this regard, the importance of cultivating good and good values and the spirit of love for the country within the Malaysian society will be described in the perspective of the role of learning, the role of the media and the role of society. 3.1. Role of Educational Institutions The spirit of patriotism and love for the nation is not easy to be born in an individual but it must be nurtured and embedded in oneself since childhood so that the souls of the younger generation will be in harmony with that feeling. As such, the role of educational institutions in shaping the identity of the younger generation is undeniable as educators are the closest individuals to this generation. Subadrah Madhawa Nair and Rajeswary P. Sinasamy (2017), in the modern era of modernity, the younger generation, especially students, lack the spirit of patriotism as they are
  • 5. 4 less interested in understanding the history seen to enhance the patriotism of the students. For example, this formation not only involves themselves but teaches the true meaning of life as an independent people. This is something very important especially in the light of the young generation because they need to realize that the peace and prosperity of the country they harbor today does not come for free. 3.2. Media Role The present generation is increasingly influenced by the media as a result of the ever-expanding transmission of technology in every life. Young generation and technology are increasingly inseparable; the younger generation is now just communicating and socializing through more than real-world technology. The role of the media is seen to be able to impart the mind and guide the young especially in the presentation of facts and truths. According to Daria Omelchenko, Svetlana Maximova, Galina Avdeeva, Natalia Goncharova, Oksana Noyanzina and Olga Surtaeva (2014), patriotism is a form of self-reliance based on love and service for the sake of the homeland, the integrity and sovereignty of the nation based on national security sustainable, responsible and obliged in prioritizing the community as well as in the domestic interest in personal intentions. In essence, the media plays a role in shaping the socialism of the younger generation as well as fostering patriotism in itself through the dissemination of information that is based on the harmony of the nation as an example. 3.3. The Role of the Society The spirit of patriotism has worsened in the society in Malaysia because of the lack of awareness of the importance of cultivating this spirit in itself. Today's society is concerned only with income sources rather than thinking about maintaining and maintaining its own homeland. In fact, assuming that the task of defending the homeland should be borne by the security forces to ensure the peace and prosperity of the nation is an irresponsible act because as a Malaysian, this task should be carried by every individual regardless of background and rank. According to
  • 6. 5 Francoise Dauce, Anne Le Huerou and Kathy Rousselet (2013), people must understand the meaning of patriotism as a sense of love and affection and the country's sense of belonging. The persistence that comes from the role of patriotism as a supplier of unity in the national group on behalf of a country thus promotes respect for civic obligations in a society. 4. Challenges to nurture good value and spirit of love for country For some Malaysians seemingly ignoring peace keeping, they care about national dignity and harmony that there are those who dared to set aside the blame when speaking and the story of religious and racial sensitivities. The issue raised is often associated with disturbance and disorder in the value system at this time mainly due to the influence of social media in today's digital era. In fact, the younger generation who are increasingly enjoying the instant environment and the urgency are much encouraged by what is happening in their environment that causes various parties to compete in the situation. Hence, various parties are advised to double their role by empowering volunteerism as well as becoming agents of change in society. 4.1. Influence of environment To have the spirit of love for the nation and the application of noble values should be created with an understanding of the historical values that exist in the environment. History in the Malaysian society inherited from ancestors contains facts, dates and figures that are relevant to the country, the origins of society, the formation of nations, colonization and independence. As stated by Dr. Aminudin Mansor (2015), people are often raised by certain parties on issues related to religion, education, economics, literature, social, cultural and historical in the hope that the community will be easily affected by the environment. For example, racial issues regarding rights and equality. Therefore, the younger generation must first understand and appreciate the history of the country to shape and educate the spirit of patriotism among themselves. National history is important to be understood and treated as an effort towards the development of independent nations.
  • 7. 6 4.2. Less sensitivity by society today Every society that loves the nation will think and reflect upon the struggles that have been passed by the previous masters. Achieving independence is not an easy issue as the ancestors experienced. On the spirit of unity and patriotism has produced human beings who seek to demand justice and independence to break down colonial traditions on the administration and development of their own country. As stated by Ali Altikulac (2016), the values found in the behavior and attitudes of individuals or communities are influenced by their own level of consciousness. Where, for example, have values such as being respected, appreciated and admired in terms of the ability to achieve something and the action in protecting is also a comparison to another matter and act based on its nature. 4.3. Less exposure by various parties Mohd Mahadee Ismail, Azlina Abdullah, Mansor Mohd Noor and Noranizah Hafizah Boyman (2016) have argued that, in maintaining harmony and well-being in society should be the main agenda by various parties. As is known, a country is formed by the existence of the land, society, independence, sovereignty, borders and self-established laws. If certain parties are only looking at the advantages and less awareness of the importance of nurturing pure values and the spirit of love for the country, then the Malaysian society will be less aware of the importance of defending the country itself from the colony either in the form of technology or profit offering by some parties. For example, the spread of western cultures that is not compatible with the culture and norms of the lives of the people in Malaysia such as free association between men and women, unreasonable challenges and so forth.
  • 8. 7 5. Suggestion for creating a good value and the spirit of love for the country The consciousness of all parties in the interest of nurturing the noble values and the spirit of love for the country is important to defend our own country. Therefore, various quarters are urged to find a suitable approach in approaching the society, especially the younger generation today to inculcate good values and ethics within themselves. If this is possible, various unhealthy problems and activities can be contained. The transmission of unhealthy and ineffective activities arises from lack of awareness and exposure by various parties to the younger generation today. Therefore, in ensuring that the younger generation today can be born as a state coaster sometime later, some suggestions are hopefully helpful for the purpose of improving existing programs or systems. 5.1. Expand the program of patriotism The government in collaboration with the local media should seek a more strategic approach in building relationships between the community and the younger generation. This is because; the younger generation is easily influenced by mass media and digital media without thinking about the information received is true or false. An approach in filtering every uploaded information should be monitored by some parties so that today's younger generation will not be affected by any information received. For example, the issue of the celebration of independence where some readers especially the younger generation easily threw comments suggesting that they did not appreciate the sacrifice of ancestral struggles. In addition, various programs need to be created so that the injection of pure values can be applied in the younger generation. 5.2. The role of Parents, Communities and Education Institutions Parents are individuals who are closest to this young generation, but the behavior of parents will affects the attitude of this generation. Therefore, it is important for every parent to cultivate the noble values and the spirit of love for the nation in this young generation to ensure that these values continue to remain until
  • 9. 8 they become mature. Furthermore, the community is an observer of every movement of the younger generation who can act as a source of reference to them. In view of this, society needs to accept the younger generation by forming harmonious relationships in a good environment. Meanwhile, the role of the learning institution is to ensure the formation of the identity of the younger generation continues to be coupled with the value that coincides with the lives of the people in Malaysia. Inheriting the practices held by the older generation can create a generation that always cares for unity and harmony in society. For example, an individual who has been applied to pure attitudes and attitudes will maintain that behavior until adult and inherit it to the next generation. 5.3. Exposure to the history of independence to the younger generation History teaches the meaning of sacrifice and the pain in achieving something of success. History is also an experience of individuals or groups of individuals who have achieved success. Similarly, the sacrifice of ancestors in achieving the meaning of independence that the community needs to cherish after independence, especially the younger generation. The importance of appreciating and understanding the history of the formation of a nation can teach the meaning of being grateful for being able to enjoy a peaceful and peaceful life without being colonized by a particular party. Consequently, the history of independence needs to be taken into account by any party concerned with harmony and well-being by providing programs and mediums to convey the implied and explicit intentions that are in the historical fold. For example, the younger generation needs to know the hardships and the dangers of achieving independence by attracting them to the re-acting programs and so forth. 6. Conclusion The discussion on the Malaysian society in applying the noble values and the spirit of love for the country has been described in its own unique perspective where every issue covered is emphasizing the meaning of patriotism and noble values to the people in Malaysia especially the younger generation. In the context of nurturing pure values and the spirit of
  • 10. 9 love the country has seen from the aspect of the definition of pure values, the definition of the spirit of love for the country as well as the role of the younger generation. This is because purely values are always related to the spirit of patriotism and will indirectly affect the younger generation in defending the sovereignty and dignity of the nation. Furthermore, in the interest of nurturing pure values and the spirit of love of the nation has been described based on the role of learning institutions as developing the personality of the younger generation, especially the students and the role of the media capable of acting by providing a program of patriotism. Whereas the role of society is to shape and guide the younger generation towards the better. The challenge in cultivating pure values and the spirit of love for the country is also viewed from the aspect of the influence of the environment in which the younger generation is seen to be less involved in engaging in patriotism activities. The lack of sensitivity by today's society is associated with a variety of issues that can attract some unhappy people. There is less exposure by various parties to the younger generation on the importance of appreciating the sacrifices of previous fighters who are always working to achieve independence today. Whereas, the proposals provided are by extending patriotism programs. Furthermore, parents, communities and learning institutions need to play their part in order for the younger generation to be saturated with pure values and to practice in community life. The last is the exposure of the history of independence to the younger generation by applying the appropriate approach to creating a sense of responsibility for defending the beloved homeland. Each individual has a responsibility to ensure the culture and customs that are practiced continue to be preserved. Likewise with the pure values and the spirit of love for the country. Its fading taste will lead to a sense of responsibility to protect the country and mutual respect will not exist within each individual. Harmony and well-being will give a sense of trust and strength to continue to respect each other. 2974 words
