Project : 1.2 MTPA FLNG EPCIC (FLOATING OFFSHORE LNG)
Position held : Lead Stress Engineer-Piping
Stress Team :Comprising of 19 Stress engineers in KL Technip Malaysia and 6 Stress
engineers in Technip Jakarta, Indonesia including total of 5 area leads.
Worked on 3-D environments like PDMS, SP3D, SPR and Navisworks.
Reporting :Piping Lead / Manager (Stress – Deptt.)-Piping
Project in brief :PETRONAS has launched the hull of its first floating liquefied natural
gas (PFLNG 1) facility which is the World’s first FLNG project in sea
designed by consortium of Technip Malaysia, Technip France and DSME
Korea. The project is to execute the Engineering, Procurement,
Construction, Installation and Commissioning (EPCIC) for the
PETRONAS Floating LNG Project of 1.2 MTPA LNG.
Main Activities :Checking Stress analysis involving sea storm conditions from operating to
extreme conditions and during transportation on a offshore floating
environment. The stress analysis in explosion and blast conditions are also
done. Planning and checking stress critical pipe routing and piping load
data transfer for structure design.
All other normal stress analysis including abnormal conditions during
start-up, shut down, defrost, bypass and other upset conditions. The
analysis and qualifications involving different eqpt. Growths,
accelerations, Winds, displacements due to HULL motion and Module
Deck deflections in various sea states like in place static hogging and
sagging due to Ballast conditions, due to wave storm, structural and
module deflections including Modal analysis for natural frequency
check, Surge phenomenon investigation.
Major responsibilities: Checking stress analysis document like, job specifications, work
instructions, specifications and data sheets for procurement and also the
docs. for quality checking, planning and checking pipe routing.
Initial planning of large bore and stress critical piping and its supporting
methodology and finalizing based on detailed engineering and analysis.
Checking piping load data for structural integrity.
Checking the stress analysis calculations, report documents.
Reports and other documents approval by Client, DNV, PMT.
Preparation of load cases. The methodology to use module deflections,
Structural and hogging & sagging deflections in Caesar calculations. The
co-ordination with third party/interdisciplinary for AIV, FIV, BLAST,
FATIGUE calculations and implementing in Caesar analysis. Vendor
meetings, review and approval of all vendor documents. Review of stress

 Preparation of design basis for stress analysis ( GES - stress analysis) as per the design
codes, client requirements etc.
 Preparation of basic calculations and stress analysis files.
 Calculation of Wind profile, Seismic co-efficient, Snow loads, slug force, slug force
spectrum, seismic spectrum, Safety valve thrust forces, preparation of load cases etc.
