 Responsible for managing the portfolio of engineering design
works, refurbishments, upgrades and technology retrofitting
of Saudi Aramco’s largest gas-oil separation plants (GOSP) in
Abqaiq, Uthmaniyah and other areas of operations in Ghawar
field.
 Responsible for the review and appraisal of conceptual and
detailed engineering by GES+ contractors in conjunction with
the proponent, LPD, CSD and other Saudi Aramco specialist
group. Performing review of engineering design deliverables
vis-à-vis Aramco Standards as well as compliance to
International Codes and Standards. Evaluate design scope of
works and the application of sound engineering principles and
cost effective concepts in the design works.
 Responsible for the assessment of cost estimate, material take-
off, technical specifications and Construction Scope of Works
(CSOW) among others.

moraine including mitigation and risk treatment options.
 Detailed design and field layout of pipe route, design of pipe
corridor/road expansion and drainage system for storm water
and geothermal fluid conveyance for zero disposal and design
of pipe road crossing structures for 220MWe Mahanagdong
Separator Station and Redundant Brine Reinjection Project.
 Responsible for financial modeling vis-a-vis economically
viable application of best available technology (EVABAT)
technique for the design of large geothermal pond taking into
account lining durability, mechanical properties, hydraulic
properties and installation and maintenance issues. This is
necessary to provide a cost effective approach to manage
temporary containment of geothermal brine for the eventual
zero disposal system of 1.163GWe geothermal complex.
 Conduct planning, reconnaissance survey and feasibility study
of 80MWe Botong/Rangas-Tanawon Pipeline Interconnection
Project. Considerations among others are made on the access
road and pipe corridor, location of separator station, minimum
earthworks, high NCG content, geohazard risks and tectonic
setting as well as development cost of transmission line.
 Responsible for the general site development design of
40MWe Kayabon Geothermal Power Project. Conduct
optimization technique using the right blend between the
location of power plant and separator station vis-à-vis location
of production and reinjection wells for optimum pipe length
and elimination of pump requirement, minimal earth cut for
access road and pipe corridor, minimization of geohazard
risks, transmission line and future expansion.
 Responsible for the development of numerical model for
landslide mitigation economics that deals with calculated
risks, risk treatment option, implementation plan, monitoring
and review system. This tool is used to assess all landslide
hotspots in all geothermal site based on key parameters such
as generation loss, direct damage to property and likelihood
of occurrence based on detailed geologic and geotechnical
study.

 Responsible for the rehabilitation of Turbine-Generator
powerhouse, cooling tower, structural components of gas
removal system and steam pipelines as well as equipment
foundation and switchyard of 150MWe Bacman Geothermal
Power Plant. Developed a proprietary repair strategy to
address unique corrosion damage mechanisms inherent in
geothermal power facilities.
 Responsible for the development of master plan for the
condition assessment of power plants with an aggregate
capacity in excess of 1.0GWe. Developed strategic inquiry
and checklist leading to the discovery of weak points and key
power plant components that presents opportunities for
improvement.
 Responsible for development of technical specifications for
the civil and structural components including corrosion
protection for both steel and concrete structures for the
40MWe Nasulo and 50MWe Tanawon Geothermal Power
Projects. Derivation of site specific seismicity, hydrology,
geohazard assessment including significant contributions in
the selection of suitable materials with respect to the existing
corrosive agents. These are used as the bases for the front-end
engineering works.
 Responsible for the systematic layouting and tower spotting of
42km - 230kV transmission line for 86MWe Burgos Wind
Power Project based on the given topographic relief, lithology,
existing geohazard, corrosion exposure and right of way
considerations. Commissioned a team for detailed
topographic survey for the final layout and engage
geotechnical engineering specialist to provide detailed
geotechnical and geologic study to be used for the detailed
foundation design.
 Responsible for the formulation of discreet methodology to
find a reasonable value of extreme wind speed necessary for
the right classification of wind turbine generator for 86MWe
Burgos Wind Power Project. This is a critical tool for the
correct application of the allowable capacity of wind turbine
under IEC standard classification that needs to be built in an
exceptionally high wind regime.

 Perform studies on the corrosion resistance of aluminum vis-
à-vis stainless steel and the applicability of aluminum in air
cooler fins for geothermal power plants.
 Developed welding sequence and distortion control procedure
for all structural steel frame system with particular emphasis
on the repair and rehabilitation of the fleet of drilling rigs.
 Analysis of the fundamental properties of organic and metallic
coatings and identify initiation and propagation modes and

This is necessary to provide a cost effective approach to manage temporary containment of geothermal brine for the eventual zero disposal system of 1.163GWe geothermal complex.  Conduct planning, reconnaissance survey and feasibility study of 80MWe Botong/Rangas-Tanawon Pipeline Interconnection Project. Considerations among others are made on the access road and pipe corridor, location of separator station, minimum earthworks, high NCG content, geohazard risks and tectonic setting as well as development cost of transmission line.  Responsible for the general site development design of 40MWe Kayabon Geothermal Power Project. Conduct optimization technique using the right blend between the location of power plant and separator station vis-à-vis location of production and reinjection wells for optimum pipe length and elimination of pump requirement, minimal earth cut for access road and pipe corridor, minimization of geohazard risks, transmission line and future expansion.  Responsible for the development of numerical model for landslide mitigation economics that deals with calculated risks, risk treatment option, implementation plan, monitoring and review system. This tool is used to assess all landslide hotspots in all geothermal site based on key parameters such as generation loss, direct damage to property and likelihood of occurrence based on detailed geologic and geotechnical study.

Fortajada CV - Page 7 of 11 July 2006 – Jan. 2010 Structural Design Engineer / Project-in-Charge (Task Manager) Engineering Design, Procurement and Construction Department PNOC-Energy Development Corporation  Responsible for the rehabilitation of Turbine-Generator powerhouse, cooling tower, structural components of gas removal system and steam pipelines as well as equipment foundation and switchyard of 150MWe Bacman Geothermal Power Plant. Developed a proprietary repair strategy to address unique corrosion damage mechanisms inherent in geothermal power facilities.  Responsible for the development of master plan for the condition assessment of power plants with an aggregate capacity in excess of 1.0GWe. Developed strategic inquiry and checklist leading to the discovery of weak points and key power plant components that presents opportunities for improvement.  Responsible for development of technical specifications for the civil and structural components including corrosion protection for both steel and concrete structures for the 40MWe Nasulo and 50MWe Tanawon Geothermal Power Projects. Derivation of site specific seismicity, hydrology, geohazard assessment including significant contributions in the selection of suitable materials with respect to the existing corrosive agents.
