Democracy in India is only partially realized due to several issues. Voting rights are in the hands of the public but external forces sometimes influence elections. Multiple political parties have emerged but lack unity. Democratic structures have also been damaged by low voter turnout. Public awareness of how democracy functions is lacking, and communication gaps exist between voters and elected representatives. Remote, underdeveloped areas face additional challenges in understanding democracy due to issues like illiteracy and poverty. For India to have a true democracy, it requires further development and addressing problems like lack of education, awareness of rights and duties, and external influences that interfere in elections.
