2. Assistant Project Engineering Manager.
Duties, Accomplishments and related skills:
- Oversees, monitors, and prepares engineering drawings for inclusion in design data, ensuring
the submittals follow the requirements and format stipulated in Reclamation
Manual/Instructions.
- Perform plan surveying processes in the projects sites
- Prepares and/or reviews preliminary design data and estimates, topographic maps, foundation
and structural data, hydrologic data, environmental considerations, right-of-way requirements,
waste and borrow areas, and utility crossing agreements, for compliance with goals and
objectives and advises others on the design team in proper interpretation and application of the
design data.
- Prepares final designs for project features involving different sites, sizes and layouts of a
variety of structures such as buildings, canals, canal and river intake structures and head works,
tunnels, pipelines, siphons, pumping plants, bridges, irrigation systems, sewage and waste
treatment and disposal facilities, roads, recreational facilities, drainage facilities and related works
and systems for erosion, flood control and for salvage and efficient use of water to be
constructed, which may include preparing drawings, sketches, computations, work statement or
specifications, a bid schedule, and a government cost estimate.
- Compiles and prepares engineering information and data relating to design changes due to
unforeseen field conditions encountered during construction. Reviews contract specifications
and prepares and compiles the necessary comments and information for solution of design
problems and, if required, prepares final designs.
- Utilizes AutoCAD, Revit and other engineering software to prepare designs as well as
standard Microsoft Office products to prepare and present design specifications and supporting
documentation and data.
- Prepares engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, blueprints,
aerial photographs and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related
topographical and geologic data.
- Performing earthworks of open drains execution, estimating excavation and filling quantities,
and carrying out plan land surveying processes.
- Lining of open channels waterways with limestone and concrete.
- Execution of Agricultural tile drainage network projects over an area of more the 40,000
